Good evening folks,

Nothing to say tonight..so let's get straight to the next theme then, this week's it's Tim theme, had to reduce & simplify the wording for the heading...cos it wouldn't fit, but Tim wants you to;-

'There Goes The Neighbourhood! - an act from your home town (Straightforward in you live in a city or large town. If you live in Nowheresville, a band formed in a town/city you go to regularly, and within a reasonable driving distance, say 30 minutes in the UK. Anyone in say the Scottish highlands or rural Ireland can have more leeway on that. Say where they're from in your nom post)'

So..looks fairly straightforward, i think, however direct your queries to the man came up with it, if not sure, ta!

Noms and links in the usual fashion, thanxsy muchy.

Having a peaceful first half of the forthcoming week!

theDuke | 6506 comments A band formed by Euros Childs, a native of Pembrokeshire, but grew up in neighbouring Carmarthen (22 miles from me), where he developed his musical interests during his school days. Originally a multi instrument playing three piece, the band has had multiple line up changes & member numbers over the 15 years they existed. Musical style ranges from dreamy pop, alternative rock, folk & psychedelic rock, & recorded in both English & Welsh. Never really made it big..but achieved 8 top 50 singles from 8 albums & several EPs. The band name is made up of an assembly of local slang & a biological term: - Gorky from gawky, school slang for a dimwit, Zygotic - from Zygote - a fertilized egg cell, & Mynci, a welsh spelling rather than direct translation of the word Monkey, and pronouced the same.

So...if i've got this right...they're called Thick Pregnant Monkey!

Apparently John Peel was a fan of them! :-)

Most of their stuff is typically dreamy pop folk rock orientated, but i found this mind bending number, taken from their debut 10" EP released in 1992. This song sounds like it was recorded at Child's home, much to the annoyance of his dad! See what you make of it..

For added local colour it looks like this video was shot at the back of the old heliport (nothing fancy, just a big square of tarmac wi' an H on it) just over t'road from me ma's with the Hallamshire Hospital and Uni Arts Tower in the background.

Spoiled for choice here in Melbourne - now officially the live music capital of the world according to a study conducted in, ahem, Melbourne. All Aussie musos gravitate here eventually. I was going to give you Kylie (or even Jason) but went with Chuck, who always has his tongue firmly in his cheek, and hopefully I'll get points from Lez if no one else.

theDuke | 6506 comments Hello folks,

An electic mix of 14 songs this week, so just the 4 votes apiece this time around.

Weather has been absolutely gorgeous of late, so have got myself into a very early spring cleaning mode. First post winter job of the year...cleaning out the gutters...oh joy! We have got quite few trees near our house, so the gutters need their annual degunking of rotting leaves & dirt, and on the odd occasion...the extrication of the odd tree sapling, from time to time! :)

Fog - Hot Sauce Pony -
https://hotsaucepony.bandcamp.com/

Avalon (The Outlaws of Knocknagore and the Search for the Utopian Dream) - Hawkbastard -
https://hawkbastard.bandcamp.com/trac...

And the main playlist:
https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list...

May the good weather continue...i learned that my dad's old workplace, in Trawsgoed, mid Wales...had recorded a record breaking temperature for February @ 20.3C, the first time ever to exceed 20 degrees centigrade since records began.

Trawsgoed is getting a habit of smashing temp records of late. Last November, the sparsely populated forested area, broke the record for hottest day in November, reaching a barmy 22.4C, and last February, it was briefly the coldest place in the UK, achieving a very icy -13 degrees. Not a record this time, but a stark contrast to this February's temps!

Anyhoo..onwards we go, enjoy the toons peeps.
