YA about a Native American child in a boarding school and it had something to do with ghosts?

I remember reading this in school and I am nearly positive the title involved ghosts in some way. All I remember of the plot was a Native American child sent to a white boarding school and about their struggles to preserve their identity. Read in approx. 2004.

This suggestion may be way off the mark, but it does have a boarding school, Native Americans and ghosts...The Revenant by Sonia Gensler.
