The generator picked Naked McMurderFeet for my cat name. I read the book, Dancing Naked in the Mind Field by Kary Mullis. It fits the challenge because the cat’s first name, Naked, appears in the book title; also the cat’s initials from McMurder Feet appear in the book title, Mind Field.

Title:
2 pts – Contains one of the words in your cat's new name. “Naked”

Cover: (based on the edition you read)
1 pts – Has multi colours.

Author:
2 pts – Is living.

Genre: - must be listed on the book’s main page
5 pts – Non Fiction

Pages:
2 pts – 200 to 299 (209 pages)

Bonus Points:
3 pts - Library Lovers Month: If the title of a real book is named (Communion: A True Story by Whitley Strieber and The Affluent Society by John Kenneth Galbraith and others)

Total: 15 points

This was an interesting book. The writer was awarded the Nobel Prize for Chemistry in 1993 and the book was published in 1998. Some of the book is fascinating, but much is very dated and some is just plain weird. For example, the author mocks the link between the burning of fossil fuels and climate change, and the link between HIV and AIDS. He believes in astrology, writes a lot about his use of LSD and other drugs, once saw a glowing green raccoon while not under the influence, and believes he may have encountered aliens. There was too much information about his personal life, especially his opinions about women, some of which made my skin crawl. There was so much strangeness in this book, it was hard to focus on the interesting scientific bits that are still relevant.

The generator picked Chainsaw McMurderFeet for my cat name. (Chainsaw is second cousin to TrudyAn's Naked McMurderfeet :)

I decided to read Witch Way to Murder (Ophelia & Abby, #1) because "murder" is in the title of the book and part of my kitty's name.

Scoring:

1 pt – Is female

Genre
2 pts - Mystery (is on book's main page)

Pages
2 pts – 200 to 299 (I read the ebook. There are no hardcover or regular paperback editions. The Mass Market paperback version has 292 pages.)

Library Lovers Month: If the title of a real book is named - take 3 points. Several real books are mentioned: Hamlet, Nemesis, Murder on the Orient Express and America's First First World War: The French & Indian War, 1755-1763 (I had to look up that last one. Yep, it was real :)

Spunky Old Broads Month: If there is a woman over the age of 60 as one of the characters - take 3 points. Abby is 78-years-old

I got Chainsaw McBurpyTuna, so I decided to read something with the same author's initials (C.M.). Chose Defending Hope by Connor Mccoy.

Points:

Title: 0 points

Cover:
Possibly 1 pts – Has multi colours. Not quite sure what is considered multi colours; tineye gives me the percentages of
42.0 % Seal Brown (Black)
20.1 % Alabaster (Grey)
19.1 % Akaroa (Yellow)
4.7 % Lemon Grass (Grey)
4.3 % Bull Shot (Brown)
3.5 % Alert Tan (Brown)
1.8 % Corn Field (Yellow)
1.6 % Wild Rice (Green)
1.6 % Mandalay (Yellow)
1.3 % Rob Roy (Brown)
Defending Hope (Surviving The Shock #1) by Connor Mccoy

Author:
This turned out to be difficult. The author doesn't have any information on his GR page (he's not a GR author) and I couldn't find any info on him when googling. I would say it's pretty safe to assume that he's still living, since his latest book was published last December, but I have no proof of this, neither any info on his whereabouts regarding California. I can just assume based on his first name that he's male.
2 pts – Is living.

Genre: - must be listed on the book’s main page
0 points

Pages:
1 pts – 179 pages

Bonus Points:

So either 3 or 4 points depending on the ruling regarding the cover.

My cat came out of the generator as Clawsome SmashitySmash. I decided to us the double S from the surname as the initials of my author and went with Fever Dream by Samanta Schweblin.

The book was quite strange. At times it was definitely unsettling in the way the reviews had promised and halfway through I thought it was going to be excellent. Unfortunately (as is often the way with this kind of horror) the ending let it down and I felt it could have delivered more than it ended up managing.

I selected random, and got Laser BirdSmasher . . . for which I read All the Birds in the Sky

Title - 2 - Contains a word from my selected "name"
Cover - 1 - Multi-coloured
- 4 - Grey (corrected)
Author - 5 - Author's last name begins with C, A, or T (Anders)
- 2 - Living
- 1 - Female
Pages - 3 - Read the Kindle, but the Hardcover is listed at 313 pages
Total - 14

I liked it, but kind of a strange book . . . some parts of it had an Artemis Fowl almost YA kind of feel, and then there was sex lol
All in all it was an interesting take on the war between nature and science, and all of the moral implications therein.

I think the cover might be 75% black but since
I can't figure out how to add the cover on either android device I have I am not going to add it to the score.

I liked the book but I think having seen the movie first probably made the book better than it really was. Having all the visuals already in place definitely added to a book where visual descriptions were in short supply.

You can add that additional 3 points to your score, Lori.

Now I know why Stephen King recommended this series. I'm intrigued and want to continue with it.

Robb (aka Nora Roberts) writes the steamiest, and most tasteful, romantic sex scenes. I'm not much into romance, but this was refreshing and enticing... plus Eve is hunting for a serial killer. Mystery and hot sex! What a combination! The audio narration is excellent, too!

My neighbour's cat was re-named Fuzzers PawSlapper, so I made a connection to bears through my 'Fuzzy Wuzzy wuz a bear' rhyme and chose to read a book set in bear country. I read The Wolf Road on audiobook. There are definitely bears around - we meet, track, avoid, fish with and run away from them.

I think that tallies up to 17 points...

I really enjoyed this book. It's set in the wilderness, is dark and wild with thrills, adventure and a few chuckles thrown in. The narrator was excellent too - Amy McFadden really made the book come alive

5 stars for this one.
