the plot of this book, as much as I can recall, is about a group of people that intersect/interact after a major apocalyptic event (like an epidemic, hence the similarity to The Stand); I believe it's supposed to take place in the Midwest of the US. The main parts that stick with me include a couple of characters searching an abandoned farmhouse that may not actually be abandoned, and a traveling group that stumbles upon a village that has forcibly quarantined the people in it and some citizens try to escape with the travelers. Another part of the book concerns people stranded in an airport and how they survive & make a civilisation in the airport itself, and there's an airplane that lands on the tarmac and there's one survivor, a boy, who eventually gets out and sees himself as some kind of prophet/messiah because of his experience.

We like to have direct confirmation from the original poster. Station Eleven does seem a likely solution.
Is it your book? If yes, we shelve it and mark this thread as Solved. If no, we continue looking~
