H.Rom. British Backdrop. The main MC is a stern/dark character who is nicknamed after a bird of prey. The female lead character is bubbly, bright and clumsy. They meet at the estate of a mutual acquaintance where a party/gathering/ball is being held.

The main MC is a Lord although I'm unsure whether he's an earl or marquess.

The genres include romance and humour.

I didn't read the book, just the description. I thought I would come back to it but I can't find it anywhere because I don't know the title. I think there was some type of estate or country side manor on the cover.

Is it Something Wonderful by Judith McNaught? The nickname of Jordan Townsend, Duke of Hawthorne, was Hawk.
