Olivia | 2 comments i remember a couple years ago i read a book about a boy (possibly a brother of the main character ?) who disappears one day and is reborn among bees if i’m remembering correctly. the book was really odd and, if i’m being completely honest, a tad disturbing and graphic, especially when describing the rebirth process. i remember a particular scene where the main character (i believe a girl?) was talking about how she doesn’t like bees but they are always in her backyard, and even sometimes sit on the rim of her drink and she has to swat them away. she also talks about how her brother (i think, may be friend?) went missing and she doesn’t know where. there are scenes in the hive itself, describing the bees and what’s going on in there. the cover of the book was white with a gold honeycomb pattern on it. anyone have any idea what it could possibly be?? it’s driving me crazy haha

thanks,
olivia

Olivia | 2 comments never mind, solved!! it’s called “the nest” by kenneth oppel. here’s the online description (i clearly made some mistakes when trying to remember the plot haha):

“ For some kids summer is a sun-soaked season of fun. But for Steve, it’s just another season of worries. Worries about his sick newborn baby brother who is fighting to survive, worries about his parents who are struggling to cope, even worries about the wasp’s nest looming ominously from the eaves. So when a mysterious wasp queen invades his dreams, offering to “fix” the baby, Steve thinks his prayers have been answered.

All he has to do is say “Yes.” But “yes” is a powerful word. It is also a dangerous one. And once it is uttered, can it be taken back? “
