Its a fiction with multiple genres entwined into one- Fantasy/Mystery/Drama. I must say the language is really elite and the plot is fascinating.
The book addresses issues around Theism and religion which I think is quite commendable for an author from India where Religion is kept at a pedestal.
This is not the kind of book that will leave you spellbound after reading the first few pages but it's a book that grows on you.

I read the Immortals of Meluha by Amish tripathi far before, but I felt to talk and motivate others to read the same.
I bought this book and kept it in my bookshelf for a lifetime.
i will be happy if people do the same.

One line from many of the beautiful lines from the book.
“There are many realities. There are many versions of what may appear
obvious. Whatever appears as the unshakeable truth, its exact opposite
may also be true in another context. After all, one's reality is but
perception, viewed through various prisms of context.”

The Dragon Republic is fantastic so far and previous book in series was also very good. This series is based on chinese history where events are inspired from 20th century china while background setting is based on Song dynasty era.
The Forever War is pretty boring though.
I finished two books yesterday.
1) all boys aren't blue - a memoir, an insight into the life of the author and what he went through to come up to terms with his own identity.
2) a soldier of great war - a 70 year old reminisce about his time in WW1.
I found both books to be mediocre.

Starting three books today as i am falling behind on my different challenges.
1) Graceling
2) the sun also rises
3) heroes dies

Moby Dick was the second novel that I read. Played huge role in establishing my interest in reading.

also reading Mandu and The Wren as part of my Romance Challenge.

Immediate Background: As I am moving to Banglore in a week, my college friends decided to get together this weekend before I went south. We had planned two days outing in Lucknow, I had to reach there by afternoon.
You should know: I do not prefer to travel alone; I feel bored, how could you not - sitting there with nothing to do. So what do I do, I sleep through entire journey and somehow it would seem as if journey had have started a moment ago and now I have reached the destination, within a blink of an eye.
I have very recently started reading, and it was not long before that I started reading earnestly. So, what did I do, while travelling to Lucknow, I bought Ghachar Ghochar and started to reading it to pass time, by the time I realised that it was a short story book and I had finished half the book, I had reached my destination.
I will say that Ghachar Ghochar could be anything but this book is not boring at all. And, I finished it on my return journey. Greatly satisfied by myself.

Just finished To Kill a Mockingbird at school for required reading.
Haven't been able to get hands on books, and I'm pretty much broke..

The first one I am reading 1984. I started reading it way back last year but I keep falling out of it. Hopefully will complete it this month.
The second one is House to House: An Epic Memoir of War . I have enjoyed it even though I don't read books of this genre.
The last one A Burning is which I started as a buddy read only yesterday.

I started reading Ruskin Bond recently and I am amazed at how much I like them. The stories are simple but leave a lasting impression. The way he describes the hills and it's surroundings is captivating. I love to read but if one wants to get into reading, I guess most of his books are perfect.

1. Mythology: Uttara Kaanda - An English translation of the popular Kannada book on Uttara Ramayana

Although I feel a bit guilty that I'm reading too many books at once (this was not the case before I joined Goodreads, lol) but it's kinda fun to be navigating such diverse stories.

I loved North and South too and I found it had more depth and more mature than Pride and Prejudice.

Yes sure. I am a huge fan of the BBC North and South Television series for a long time so I decided to finally read the book.

I am loving it so far and feel the same. Jane Austen writing is a bit more romanticized version of the era. Though I like her writing for her humor and I like Persuasion more than Pride and Prejudice.
