Thanks for reading! I use the AI for all of the word games. I asked it about nutrition and bookish lists. The software will only improve with time. See you then.

Seriously after a very long time I have read such a clean novel.
Fantasy. Middle graders would enjoy it more. But I am a kid at heart and so I enjoyed reading this. Some parts were predictable but it's fine.
This can serve as a good icebreaker to those who want a break from dark/crime/disturbing/horror genres ;)

just finished Fried Green Tomatoes at the Whistle Stop Cafe for my Bingo challenge.
AWESOME . that's the only description for it. It's such a wonderful women centric book full of love, happiness, and friendship.
onto silver now and starting my buddy read with Taznen and Luffy

Onto Think Again by Adam Grant"
What were you thoughts on the book? Have you read Recursion by him?

Ohh I went on to buy Dark Matter (like blind-folded) precisely because I loved Recursion so much haha! Even though I had read Recursion like a year back, I could starkly see similar elements which I reckon would mark the authors style of writing.
For example, how the protagonists go through hell which actually repeats itself, every time giving a different result, prolonging the suffering.
How vividly Blake illustrates the emotional vulnerabilities of his protagonists.
How the ending to the book is not actually an ending to the story itself, but leaves us with the idea of the beginning of something new.
How each story deep-dives into something new and unexplored about the universe which make his stories stand out.
I found the book quite entertaining. It was a fast-paced page turner. Although I could predict the flow of the story, it did have its own twists and turns to keep hooked till the end. Overall, its a great book!

I was looking for a fast paced book for my next read and I think I just found it. :)
I also read Recursion a couple of years ago and remember really liking it.

need to start As The Crow Flies that some of us are buddy reading.
Bingo challenge is now lolkignljke Mt.Everest. need to pick it up again.
3. Havana Bay: Martin Cruz Smith

Do join us in the buddy read. It's a nice, smooth, easy to read book, with enough twists and turns to make you turning the pages.

Isn't that your own book? Didn't you read it while editing the draft?

Starting was boring.
Then it picked up a bit.
Now almost at at mid/end ish. Let's see.

Next Books:
'Surrounded by Narcissists' by Thomas Erikson
'Think Again' by Adam Grant

I am planning to read Rebecca next.

I am planning to read Rebecca next."
OMG do you mean Rebecca by Daphne du Maurier ? It's my absolute favorite . So intense , so many twists and turns - it's just a superb book . The old Hindi movie Kohra is based on this book , but they changed the ending to suit the soft hearted Indian audience . When are you planning to read this book . If in July , I would love to join in for a buddy read .

Hahaha Austin ! As far as I can remember I have only read it once , and that too long back . I would love to ( buddy ) read it again . Can't stop gushing about the novel 👌 ! I have a printed copy of the book at home . Why don't you also join in ? Of course, right now Anulekha hasn't responded , so I dont even know whether it's Daphne du Maurier 's Rebecca or some other novel !

Yay 😊 ! Now it depends on whether Anulekha clarifies about the book and the time .

July or early August would be absolutely fine with me , Austin . Gosh , am I going to look forward to this read - haunting ambience , beautiful characterization and fabulous twists and turns of the story . What more can a reader want ? I will post a reminder in the Buddy read request thread around the decided time . Let's see about Anulekha.

You sound very excited Savita. I am looking forward to it too. Now a question for you. Do you like Rebecca more or Tess of the D'Urbervilles?

Haunting ambience, twists and turns! Noted Savita. And I like it that parts of the novel is set in Monaco, a country which I know nothing much about.

Well , I feel Rebecca is a superbly crafted story full of mystery , excitement, adventure and ( OMG , there I go repeating myself ) yes ( 😅 ) unexpected twists and turns .
Tess is an emotionally beautiful story , told by another master storyteller . It doesn't have exciting twists and turns of course . And , be warned , it's got a sad strain .
Austin , if you haven't read Tess then we can do buddy read on Tess rather than Rebecca . Please note , Hardy takes his time to describe the countryside , build up an ambience , craft out characters and build up a lovely , touching story . It's worth cultivating a taste for these great authors .
Please let me know whether you would like to read Tess instead of Rebecca . I am ok with either .

Austin , I suggested Tess because you haven't yet read this book , so I thought you may be more interested in reading it , rather than rereading Rebecca . I don't mind - we can read Rebecca at a later date .

Leena , what a pleasant surprise - do you want to join us for Tess or Rebecca ?

Well , Austin , if you stretch your imagination bit , can't Rebecca fit in the mildly horror genre ? 😁 . In fact , in the hindi movie version there is a suggestion that the palatial mansion is haunted by (view spoiler) ghost 🤯 . Even in the book there is a playful implication , in the first chapter, or is it the prologue , that (view spoiler) ghost still haunts the palatial mansion , Manderly .
Anyway , I won't press on the issue . In fact , if you do select a horror book with a good blurb , I will also join in . 😊

Savita, I have always thought of Rebecca as a romance cum mystery/thriller book. So it has some horror parts as well I see. I read this book 19 years ago in 2004. So I don't remember.
I will try to select a horror book for October keeping you, Luffy, Leena and others interests in mind. I don't think I will pick Rebecca for October. It will be for some other time of the year.

Austin, there are so many new horror writers that let me make u a list, and then we can read it together for Halloween. I really can't like Stephen King, so let's avoid him. Have you thought of The Omen - apparently the book is just as good.

I meant Rebecca by Daphne du Maurier only. I have heard great things about the book.
We can have a buddy read; it would be great. July or August works fine for me.

Stephen King doesn't seem to be that popular with Indian readers. Even I didn't like the two books I read of his. I gave both 1 stars. It was that terrible.
I haven't heard of The Omen. Let me see what it is about.
I am wary of new authors as Savita may not join. She would prefer a horror book that is a classic. Anyway, let's see. I just mentioned a few books that came to my mind. I will explore some more.

Thanks for catering to my tastes in the horror genre, I'll take the possibility under advisement. But I'm curious what book will it be :)

Lolita by Vladimir Nabokov. Darkly funny but runs out of steam halfway into the book. It makes perversion beautiful and vulgarity tender. Rating - 3/5
