Haha...

The lure of it being free and easily accessible has lured a ton of people in, quick... you just couldn't stay away ;)

I would like to know if the story is bomb enough to warrant that much time invested - I’d love some thoughts from y’all who have started it already.

Everyone is kind of starting at different times. Some people have already started, some starting within the next week or two.

This BR is definitely more fluid than most... symptom of the crazy length...

Yeah, it's not on audible. I'm listening to it on Stitcher at the moment, but check the wordpress link to find more audio versions.

I am as far as through Tangle. Honestly, I think this might be a DNF for me. It's fine so far, but I just don't think I'm interested enough to read 7000 pages of this...

You're quite a bit farther than me... I keep finding other things to read... probably not a good sign... but I haven't even finished Arc 2, yet, so I'll give it more time, when my schedule slows down...

I'd say give it a fair shot and read a couple more arcs before giving up. I just looked at your page count post and realized I had gone through ~600 pages and wasn't loving it. At that point, it's not worth it for me.

message 70: by Hailee (last edited Jan 27, 2019 08:14AM) (new)

Hailee | 2762 comments I've finished Arc 3: Agitation last night. I'm still on the fence about it. I am curious about how things will develop especially if Taylor will ever stand up to her bullies but like you said Jenna I'm still unsure whether I want to dedicate 7000 pages to it.

I did a bit of my own maths and worked out that as long as I finish arc 4 before the start of February I can just read one "chapter" of an arc a day and it will take me up to about 3 days before October 31st to complete. It doesn't sound too time consuming that way but I suppose it depends on if I remain curious. I think I'll commit to reading Part 1 (as split up by Iain) and then make my decision as to DNFing or not.

message 71: by Hailee (new)

Hailee | 2762 comments Ok I'm halfway through Arc 4 now and I'm starting to think I'm not curious enough about it to get to the end. I think a DNF is inevitable so why not just bite the bullet and do it now. Especially since there is another book after in the series so even if by some miracle I reached the end of this one the story still isn't done unless I commit time to another 2000 pages. There are so many more books that I want to read over this one.

No... this book is mostly standalone... the 2nd book is just set in the same world, basically...

But regardless, 7000 pages is a bit commitment if you're not loving it...

Also I was surprised about the quality of the podcast, it's really well done! The Interlude after Arc 2 was a little harder to listen too, I don't know how it was edited, but I had to slow down the reading speed back to normal, as I couldn't understand her otherwise, but the rest was really good so far!

message 82: by jess (last edited Feb 03, 2019 01:37PM) (new)

jess (nu6586) | 1729 comments I just finished Arc 2 and Interlude 2. I thought the interlude wasnt written that well. I just felt like Glory Girl’s maliciousness could have been displayed differently. And the dialogue was a little basic, as the kids say these days.

It seems like every other day Ive decided to give up the serial, but then I find myself reading another section. So I dont know where I stand with this. Btw, Im reading this, not listening.

After a week or so of casually reading, I feel the exact same. It's really not great - from what I've read so far - but it's easy to just push on and read another chapter. Especially during idle periods in work! So I'll probably have this ticking away in the background over the year. I'm tempted to check out the audio, but I think I'll enjoy just breezing through a chapter whenever I have a few spare minutes more.

Yea, def on the backburner, but yea maybe like Sean said we will finish it by October!!!

message 86: by Seán (new)

Seán | 602 comments Yeah, I just finished the first arc and interlude on a slow morning in here. I'm likely to have a day like this every week or so, and can just use that to chip away at it. If I'm really not feeling it after maybe 5 or 6 arcs I might drop it, but for now it looks like some easy brain candy.

I'm just not making enough time to enjoy the story...

Last couple weeks, I've gone from a LitRPG binge to 6 BRs I signed up for or randomly joined because they looked interesting / were on my TBR... then February hit and it was time for a bunch of BRs in the series' I started in January... Servant of the Empire, Muse of Nightmares, Metaframe War (weekly)... now I got a bunch of new releases coming out tomorrow, and am looking to binge some Kurtherian Gambit books with Choko, now that she's caught up... it's always something...

I'm just as bad at making time for TV/Movies...

The Amazing Adventures of Gloryhole & Cockblocker... lol

I listened to Arc 3... the decision not to edit out the throat clearing and re-reads the 2 times the narrator's throat got dry / mispronounced, was interesting... but otherwise decent narration...

jess (nu6586) | 1729 comments I was a little less impressed with Ch 4 Shell. But that whole bank robbery was pretty sweet, hard to beat. I am still amazed at all the off-kilter uses of peoples’ power though. That probably trumps everything.

You all still padding along?

Anni | 5066 comments I finished Arc 10 (Part1) :) Yeah!

I really liked the Bonus interlude of Arc 8 (view spoiler) At first I was a little confused because it was placed between 8.2 and 8.3 and not at the end as the other interludes, but it makes sense to read it between those two chapters. (view spoiler)

Starting Arc 9 I was surprised (view spoiler) Sadly the audioquality of the Interludes and Parts with different POVs is pretty bad most of the time, I settled to read them instead...

Bill | 2150 comments I started and am on the Agitation interlude. I’m finding it to be a really easy listen and am surprised at how good the quality is on it. I was expecting it to kind of amateurish with poor sound quality lad that’s not the case.

Now I just need some time to go back and read everyone’s comments.
