Chevy (chevheav) | 7 comments This book I read as a kid 20-30 years ago and my memory about it is VERY limited but I distinctly recall a ballerina and posits strong man. I think they lived in a magic dollhouse. I feel like it is very Indian in the cupboard-esque but I don’t know if humans knew the dolls came to life or not and I feel like one of the dolls might have been bad?

I deleted the duplicate threads. One per book request, please.

Vivi | 22 comments The Steadfast Tin Soldier
this one is a childrens story about a tin soldier who loves a paper ballerina

The Doll People
and this one is about living toys that hide that secret and is an adventure type book
The Meanest Doll in the World
the sequel has a princess doll that might be mistaken as a ballerina
both are a bit far fetched but its worth a shot

Chevy (chevheav) | 7 comments Thank you for introducing me to the dolls list.

So far I’ve read the dollhouse murders and knew right away that wasn’t it but still read the book and enjoyed it well enough.
I may never find the book but at least I’ll get some good reads in while searching :)

Rainbowheart | 28699 comments Could also maybe be The Dolls' House. Not sure about the ballerina or strongman, but one of the dolls is bad.

Publisher's weekly:
"the line drawings that rather stiffly depict the humans perfectly capture these small folk. A lively bunch of ex-circus performers, they are a cast readers will hope to meet again."

The Indian in the Cupboard could fit. I don't think this book fits, but there are sequels that I never read. The Indian in the title refers to a toy Native American who comes to life, only for the boy Omri.
