Inspired by Karin’s review I listened to this. So much fun. The audiobook is very well done. I’m not sure how this would work if one did not know the film. Half the fun is in the contrast between the film imagery and the language.

Lol, for some reasons I'm just struggling to imagine this combo results in a five star read just because I don't really know any Star Wars films beyond the original, and because I abide by Shakespeare only because he is a towering figure in literature.

The dramartized audiobook production is what sells it! The person who voices Hans Solo is one of the best, but they are all excellent. I am NOT an avid Star Wars fan!!! I only saw one in the theatre, and only watched the third (#6 in the series) because I was visiting younger cousins who had it on VHS.
This may not be on a par with other books I’ve rated 5 stars. And I’m by no means a Star Wars fan. But in the introduction or afterword - can’t remember which - there’s a bit about how this actually came to be, about storytelling mechanics and classical tales, about how the Star Trek film makes use of these structures and how this inspired the author to translate the film into a Shakespeare play. It is executed so well and the audio adds to that by including sound bits from the film. There is something absolutely hilarious in the juxtaposition of androids and spaceships with Shakespeare‘s language. I could not give it any less than 5 stars.
