Since I'm doing the Heroes challenge at AMMP, and the detective Uno challenge, found a new avatar which works for both

I don't actually have a favourite detective although Hercule Poirot was my introduction to the world of Mystery. I'm a big lover of the Women's Murder Club and Alex Cross.
Less than 2 days to go to the start CountdownDon't forget books cannot be started until countdown reaches 0
Rina wrote: "I love Hercule Poirot and Sherlock Holmes books. And Lincoln Rhyme."Ah, I have those books to get to (Lincoln Rhyme). Haven't read about that detective yet.
So many types of detectives, so many decades they're set in, so many styles - hard to keep up!
I don't think I have a favourite detective as I don't read much crime these days, but I used to read a lot of Hercule Poirot when I was younger so he will always have a special place in my heart :D

I am currently trying to finish the book I'm currently on so that I'll be ready to go when the timer reaches 0 :D
Yes, I'm waiting to start. Going to try to do some mini-read-a-thons this weekend too. I have some spare time and have been mainly been barely reading in December and January from challenge burn-out and needing a break.
Very excited to get started! Picked out some books for specific cards but the rest will be a surprise for me, I'm just going see whatever I'm in the mood for when I need to pick a new book!
Erin *Proud Book Hoarder* wrote: "Who is everyones favorite fictional detective?”I’m gonna go way back and say Nancy Drew. She’s probably technically not a detective detective, but I was obsessed with those books (and The Hardy Boys) when I was in grade school. I’m not super big on the mystery/detective genre, so I can’t think of any other favorites. :)
So excited to start the challenge!

My two favorite fictional detectives are Jack Caffrey (Mo Haydar's Jack Caffrey series) and Will Trent (Karin Slaughter's Will Trent series)
I want to read Karin Slaughter still, have several of her books but haven't tried yet. Have heard of Wil Trent, but not Jack Caffrey
Woot, we have officially started -- Happy Reading, all!I'm planning on reading pretty much all day today and most of the weekend for a good start, plus I have extra time on my hands for once.

Great Dima, Can you post future books in the books read thread. Linked in post on 1st page 😊

Good morning, Louise! I'm planning to read most of the weekend and yesterday although sadly the reading may slow down other days of the month, but I was amazed how much I loved a m/m romance book I started early yesterday, finished it about 12:30 am last night, and now have read the sequel. The Heat of Love series is definitely my favorite so far, just updated the read thread with both, books it's very unique so far.
I'm most excited about two new releases in a series I love - my favorite Reverse Harem series (Geez, I'm sounding freaky with all these book choices right now, aren't I?) called Moonlight Whispers that comes out the 27/28th of the month. It's the 8th in the series and I'm in love with the series, so can't wait. Also excited about the third book in The Guild and Codex series, Three witches and a whiskey.
Really this just seems like a fun month, I'm excited about almost all the books I have planned out :0)
I'm about to start a mystery by Agatha Christie as well, Ordeal by Innocence. My mother and I watched the mini-series on Amazon not long ago. I'm sure they added modern shocking stuff that Christie usually didn't touch with a ten-foot pole in her books, but I'm curious on the changes. I loved the movie and story, and I love Christie's books in general.
I have to admit I'm not keen on the new Christie adaptations, Poirot for me will always be David Suchet. Currently reading Death on the Nile which I haven't read since I was a teenager. Christie was definitely my first love
Oh yes, David Suchet was amazing. I have recently seen Murder on the Orient Express with Kenneth Branagh and didn't like it - Kenneth Branagh is a great actor but he is not Poirot :-)
How is everyone doing so far. Erin you're a reading demon, I don't know how you do it.My books in progress:
1, 2, 9
1(Blue), 9, 6, 3
Reverse, Skip, 3, 6, 8,
Wow I feel like I'm the slow one in the group...Started 2 books though and to be fair I should easily reach my 4 books/month which is the amount I estimated I would read. So I'm trying not to stress out xD
I always have a slow start haha, I had a pretty busy day yesterday so I only started last night, but hopefully once I finish that first one, it will take off.

Currently reading Death on the Nile which I haven't read since I was a teenage..."David was perfectly cast, I don't get why they keep getting blond actors to play him on some of the newer movies. I know they did for the newest Murder on the Orient Express, and older versions of Evil Under the sun and Death on the Nile. I'm sure there's not a shortage of Belgian actors wanting roles in hollywood, but you know how hollywood is - sighs.
Ordeal by Innocence wasn't a Poirot movie so that was a non-issue in this case, though.

It helps I didn't have any obligations this weekend, and I was reading two books that completely sucked me in lol.
I need to read more today, was on the computer too much yesterday and last night just kind of sitting here, but I did get caught up with some of America's Got Talent lol
I'm not an Audiobook fan, but I'm part of the team challenge at AMMP as well, so would like to finish at least three this month. Right now I have an audiobook started for Coraline by Neil Gaiman.

We have a mix of reading speeds, the important thing is to enjoy what you're reading and not get stressed 😊
Nikki wrote: "I always have a slow start haha, I had a pretty busy day yesterday so I only started last night, but hopefully once I finish that first one, it will take off."Yes, likewise although having a lazy weekend has helped 😉

I finished up a book I started slightly too early for this challenge yesterday, and now I'm 20% into my first Uno book, Queen of Cahraman! Super Bowl Sunday is cutting into my reading time a bit today.
I assume the team members have been matched based on the number of books we estimated that we read per month, so I'm trying not to stress when i read less than you all.Unfortunately stressing is in my nature :P
Louise wrote: "Great Dima, Can you post future books in the books read thread. Linked in post on 1st page"Sure. Sorry.
We're just a few days into the challenge and I can see we're doing great:) I've just come back from 11 days of cruising in the Carribbean without internet but I'm reading:) I'm travelling for a few more days, but next week I'll have access to my computer again. Then I can link properly to the book I'm reading but it's Royally matched by Emma Chase.
I've been away for 3 days, and didn't get much reading done unfortunately, but I'm home now so I should get back into it :D
When it comes to places where the book is set, how general can it be? The book I'm currently reading says its set in England, but not where other than naming the mansion where they are. I guess I can't use England as the place though?
From the FAQFor location, is it just the city, state, country or are locations such as "Snowberry Manor" or maybe a specific lake or mountain name counted?
It needs to be the main setting for the book. So if the book is set in "Snowberry Manor" then that is ok. Whereas if that is just the name of the house, but not the main setting (which may be the city of London, for example) then I wouldn't count it
