Being a mathematician myself, it’s been a while since I discovered and wanted to read “A Mathematician's Lament: How School Cheats Us Out of Our Most Fascinating and Imaginative Art Form”. I checked just now that it is under Science-Mathematics, which works for the mini, yey!

I’m posting my first two books now and reading my third now hopefully I can get a few more in with the long weekend for me.

Just to let you know that I just asked Pixie for the three clues of the riddle, since we finished those three tasks of the mini challenge.

Motivation is money, of course. Administered by a needle: so seamstress and ICU nurse would be the most efficient. Jack would have a good slight of hand due to stealing before. They all were "arguing" which made the nurses leave. But there's also the chance that Donna would have gotten something out of the deal by the collection being sold to the museum. All locked from the inside, which means it could have been stored in clothing or bedding so when he went to bed it would stab him then.

Which leaves the servant (who knew his whole routine every day) and the seamstress with the opportunity to set up that part. However, there is no information about whether they found a needle when they found the body.

Also, the letter could be a plant left by the one person who had the key...Donna. Which would put the letters to the museum.

So, long information short....I'm stuck lol but I would vote Donna.

2) Mary, the dates (started and read) on the book Beautiful Disaster are a bit strange. When I click to view the details I think it is ok, but looking at the shelf they are a bit clumsy. I think this may be GR's fault as it seems to me that you might have read it for a second time this year. But if you can put it pretty, just to make sure there won't be a problem, I would appreciate it. :)

Amanda, would you say that has a red cover? I looked at it and it seemed so to me, I checked with TinEye, and he agrees even though he puts a rusty red that looks brown in places I would call maroon, or burgundy - a bit unsure with the english word - which to me fall into the red category. If you fell that could be a 2 Red for a Wild Draw 4, I will take it to the captains group for assurance.

I think it is time to claim coloured cards, to ensure that we'll have those spots covered.
At this moment we already covered:

9 Yellow

And we have left:
5 Yellow

Plus *3 Wild Draw 4.

Amanda read "Drink deep" which fits either 5 Red or 9 Red; and I'm waiting on her feedback if "Viscount of Vice" is red enough to fit a Wild Draw 4 mimicking a 2 Red.

I can read "Simon vs the homo sapiens agenda" for the 1 Red. I am pretty sure that and "Erotic stories for Punjabi widows" will be my last books for this month.

I think this one works for red cover. I get 50.5% on TinEye and each color with red in parentheses also has red in the name except Fire Brick, which is obviously red.

I haven't finished them yet but I will finish by the end of the month. I wanted to get them in there before I would procrastinate.

Does work for yellow? TinEye results are mostly brown, green and yellow.

I am picking it up from the library today and plan to read it for another February challenge that requires a book set in the Victorian time period.

I put the asterisk because the book Amanda read works for both 5 Red and 9 Red. But in that case I will put Amanda’s under 9 :)

But about the murder, I have a couple of theories, but playing detective is not easy :)

Things to keep in mind: the room was open during the day; Mr. Dutton took naps in the afternoon in the veranda - leaving the path clear for everyone to enter his room.

What intrigues me is why did Elaine keep the letter and was late to bring it to Donna.

All children have a motive, so I though they could have all done it: the nurse with knowledge of the substance; the teenage thief helping to steal it; the seamstress finding a way to inject it without being present through some sort of mechanism.

Then I thought maybe only Elaine did it. She could have sewed a nurse outfit, stole the substance, found a way of putting it in the room and kill her father.

There must be some piece I’m missing that will put things together...

Alissa, is Dark Matter placed in Chicago, Illinois all the time, or is it also Illinois - not Chicago at some point?
Because in case it is Chicago, Illinois, we cannot use it for I :(

I am not sure if the state of Illinois can be used for the place in Dark Matter, since the city of Chicago is listed as a specific setting. You may want to check on that to make sure it will count.

You are correct, that is why I asked Alissa if the whole book was set in Chicago. At first I put the book under a 5 Red, but then since I had to shuffle a lot of things I copied the spreadsheet and worked on a parallel sheet. But our spreadsheet should be good now. I will take a closer look later today :)

I am really bad with the concept of alliterative title. I think "Divided in death" and "Save my soul" could be considered alliterations. Not so sure about "Manners and Mutiny" and "Viscount of Vice", but what do you think?

And by the way, what are the best and worst books you've read so far in the challenge? :)

I will be reading a book with an alliterative title for a couple of challenges before the end of the month - Fatal Frost.

Best book: Divided in Death - I love this series!

Worst book: Old Wounds - It was a boring story, so it was probably a 2½ star rating for me. I will give a book 3 stars if it was OK, 2 stars if I didn't like it and 1 star if I hated it.

I wanted to read more during February (I guess I will finish 2 books until the end of February though), but illness got in my way.

But, nevertheless. Best book: You (started the Netflix show as well. Creepy as hell).
Worst book: Ink (the dystopia could have been SO good - the idea behind it was so promising. But the plot was kind of boring though...)
