Hello all,I’m just checking in to see how is everybody doing. Especially for those who haven’t been around: Slytherpuff and Sreshtha, are you there playing with us? :)

I'm great!!! Haven't read this much in a short time ever; it is GREAT!!

Funny how I can feel your enthusiasm in your words :) I’m happy you’re having a good time!
I'm here. Just finished a January read. As I'm on a conference, I won't have a book to read until Sunday.
Hoping to get a couple more finished on the weekend although that's usually less reading time for me.
I hope to finish two of my books on the weekend.... we will see, the weather is Bad, so more time for me to read and not going outside :)
Karen, don't forget to put "Knife and flesh" on your uno shelf :)Our spreadsheet is looking good: we have filled 38 spots with 28 books (5 x Draw 2 which duplicate 5 books), and we still have 60 spots to put 50 books (same idea). Totally doable I would say. :)

Oops! I fixed it. Thanks.
Sorry guys I was on vacation but I’m back and should be more active and read more books!!!I’m almost done with my first and ready to start the next one.
OMG, there is a mini challenge coming. :)Still waiting for the proper anouncement, but our team spreadsheet has already a new tab for it - in case you cannot wait for the details :)
A little heads up: completing the mini means that we have to read 43 books - I'm assuming - counting from the beginning of the challenge until the end of the month. More information should be about to be released, but I'm soooo exciteeed.
The book I just finished (Feral King) has a housekeeper in it. And I'm currently reading a book that has a doctor in it.
Karen ♐ wrote: "The book I just finished (Feral King) has a housekeeper in it. And I'm currently reading a book that has a doctor in it."We cannot use Feral King, since you finished it already, but if you hold on to the book you are currently reading until the 14th, then we can use that. I am assuming the doctor is the main character?
The rules for the mini challenge are here: https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...I will read them myself and then come back with a plan :)
About the mini challenge, the rules are quite straightforward. I think that we could take advantage of the following:◈ Books can be started at any point since the start of the UNO challenge (Feb 1)
◈ Books need to be read after the start of this mini challenge on February 14, 7pm AEDST (countdown is here) and before March 1 at 7pm AEDST (Countdown to March is here)
If everybody holds the books they are currently reading until the 14th, that would allow us to use them for the mini.
I am also adding some columns to our tracking spreadsheet so that we can account for the new letters we are considering, such as A, C, D, etc. These will work exactly as the usual letters Z, O, T, H: a letter needs to be the first letter in the book title, author first name or surname, character name or nickname, or setting. Articles (a/an/the) can be ignored in the book titles; you can also use the first letter in the series name.
If you have any doubts, just post them here.

Okay, I'll hold off. Yes, the doctor is the MC.

"TinEye says its "only" 38% yellow. I can take it to the Captain's group and ask the others what they think.
How do I add to the spreadsheet? It seems to be view only?
Also, I'm reading Scythe and I think the gleanings could be considered murders

Well, some of the other captains say that it does count as yellow cover, others say that it does not. I would not risk it and would put it somewhere else.

If you want to enter something in the planning spreadsheet, you can ask for access (and Diana will let you edit it as soon as she sees your request). The other spreadsheet can only be edited by Diana and me.

Great. I just requested access. Books can only be used for a hand of cards or for the mini tasks right? Not both?

I have one that works for the draw 2 and skips and the other draw two with the 4s.

Hi Slytherpuff,
The tracking spreadsheet is open to everybody, so you should be able to add your books there. Use only the first tab, and fill in every option that the book fits. I'll take care of shuffling the books around and put them in our team's final sheet.

That's the team spreadsheet that only I and Franziska can edit.

Unfortunately not. For the book that you are currently (re)reading to be accepted in the UNO challenge it must have been six months since the last time you've read it. So if you're reading the same book twice in a shorter amount of time, it cannot count twice, sorry.

Just another thing: I see that you already filled in some information about a book you've read. So, for each column, we use A for the author's name, P or L for place/location, C for character's names, and T for title. So on the column for the number 2, where you have T: Tennesse Williams, it should be A: Tennesse Williams. If you could correct the whole row according to this info, it would be great. Thank you.

Last thing: don't forget to add the book to your UNO shelf.
Great. Will do after school today.
I would definitely say yes! But if you want to be sure, I can take this question to the captain's group.
Franziska wrote: "I would definitely say yes! But if you want to be sure, I can take this question to the captain's group."your call. :) I just have been working on the order of the phoenix and thought it would work :)
Also, would Hunger Games count as a novel with murder in it?

I believe it's a yes for muder in the Hunger Games :)
I would also consider elves as servantas. Franziska took the question to the captain's group so that we can be sure!
Mary wrote: "how do you find books tagged as mpg science and mpg mystery?"I don't know if there is a way other than browsing by genre and check individually for each book.
For science I checked the list of "popular science books" at the bottom of this page:
https://www.goodreads.com/genres/science
I myself am tempted to read A brief history of time, but I am afraid I won't give it as much love as I should...
Also I checked that Pipi Longstocking is written by a Swedish author, and even though it is a children's book it has more than 25000 words, so I may give it a go :)

Perfect! Thank you :) At night I am having to grout our children's new tile floors but that should be done by Sunday and I'll be back on my quick reading schedule :)
The answer to the house elves questions is "Yes, if they perform the services of a maid or servant. " As I know Dobby (and the others) do that in the Harry Potter series, there should be no problem.
For the Fantastic Beasts screenplays - I really wanted to read them; however, since they are plays I went to check arbookfind and they are not in there so I cannot find word count. What do you think I should do?

Franziska, can you take this to the captains group? I think they have a way of checking the length of an audiobook and make a guess on the word count.
I'm sorry for all the questions. What is the rule for plays? The one I read has 27844 words.
Slytherpuff wrote: "I'm sorry for all the questions. What is the rule for plays? The one I read has 27844 words."Plays must be over 25000 words, so the one you read is ok :)
Slytherpuff wrote: "I'm sorry for all the questions. What is the rule for plays? The one I read has 27844 words."Slytherpuff, it seems that you started reading “A streetcar named desire” on the 31st of January. At least that’s what you have on GR. Can you confirm if that is the case, i.e., if you started it before February? Because if so, we cannot use it.
