I read this book sometime between 2002-2006, but it might have been published earlier. It was about a girl/princess who could weave or tug on the strings of magic. She could see the web of magic surrounding the world and could tap into it. I think most of the story took place in a forest. And there was a knight/prince who became her love interest/friend. And there might have been something about a witch...

No unfortunately not, there was just one female main character, and she could magic was literally like an unseen web around the world and she could do magic by tugging on them.

You're not getting confused with the Enchanted Forest series by Patricia Wrede are you? The first book has a princess running away to live with dragons. In the second book she meets the King of the Enchanted Forest, who does indeed use 'strings' to do magic.
