Public Domain in 2019

Due to a copyright extension in 1998, there has been a copyright hiatus until 2019 (in the US at least, not sure how this affects other countries). Works from 1923 are now entering the public domain, which amounts to more than 50,000 works.

Are there any you are looking forward to checking out? Thoughts on copyright/public domain restrictions?

My first thought is about all the books that I've previously looked for on Project Gutenberg, and not found. Now (or soon) they will be there, but I saved no record of them, so I don't know what to check for again.

I had no idea that this was going to happen.

And I still don't really understand it, so can't comment on copyright etc.

I knew there was a change, but I didn’t realize this was the year that it up again. It looks like there are works by Edith Wharton, Agatha Christie and Robert Frost. I think the part that makes me anticipate it is that we’re back to a yearly cycle of new works that come readily available. Like you, I have searched for books expecting to find them in the public domain.
