so far im on pg 60 and man sometimes eleanor is such a hard ass it annoys me but i like it at the sametime bc it matches her well. the vocabulary in the novel is quite impressive. there is a need for me to define terms i dont understand but this is good!

I had to look up definitions all through this book.
I found this book utterly annoying. I waited and waited for it to get better and interesting, but it never happened. At the end I just swore and threw the book across the table because of the days I wasted of my life reading it which I will never get back. I feel she has some sort of spectrum disorder and that the relatively interesting characters of this book were not explored further. One star.
This is why I love discussing books. I absolutely loved this book. Some parts of it were so funny to me. I don't want to say too much since Elizabeth is reading it, but there's a part when she's at McDonalds, which is just hilarious.
I recently finished this book! I enjoyed it- it wasn't my alltime favorite, but, I liked hearing E's viewpoints of herself and the world around her, especially the interactions with Raymond. I laughed more than once about her descriptions of him being annoying and an inconvenience to her!
I just finished this. I began it with low expectations and I ended up LOVING it. I loved the character development and how Eleanor grew throughout the book. It is sad and humorous at the same time. A few of her words were a stumbling block for me as I had to look up several of them.

I absolutely loved this book...I found myself chuckling to myself so many times.
I absolutely loved this book...the lead is so lonely and lives a life of routine - was nice to see her evolve a bit by the end...a great read
I've never worked at a place where people were rude like her workmates were.
I read the book last year when it was published here in Italy where I live, and even if I liked it I have to say that the author simply cannot handle all those themes in one book, they are just too many. First loneliness, being an 'outcast', rejection and delusion plus the shadow of her mother which I found redundant and confusing trough all the book and that it is explained only at the very end of the novel so that the writer can avoid dealing with it.

The author's use of redundancy was an interesting technique that allowed the reader to sense the "redundancy" of Eleanor's life and its OCD components.
True Kimberly. I hadn't thought about it that way but that's an interesting point.

My major complaint about this book- That freaking bikini wax scene. It was ridiculous and Eleanor was such a jerk.Good things: It was fun to look up some of the archaic words Eleanor uses. Raymond was a great character.
I listened to the audiobook and really enjoyed it.
When I started this book, I really hated it because I really hated Eleanor! But overtime I learned to love her and her relationship with Raymond. Now it's one of my top 2020 reads!I wrote a more in-depth review about this book on my blog!

totally heartbreaking for me as i often suffer from great feelings of loneliness so i cant imagine how someone must feel when the only social interaction you have for years is at work. i really empathised with elenor and i think anyone who feels isolated and lonely will as well
