What Have You Read - 2019
Char said (in part):I ended up having to DNF Full Throttle Full Throttle by Joe Hill . I can't seem to put my finger on why, but it was just a slog for me-up to 40%. I feel like I gave it enough time.
Perhaps I will come back to it at some point in the future.
I’ve only dipped into this one thus far. I didn’t care much for “Throttle”, but liked “Wolverton Station” and really liked “You Are Released”.

Not long ago I read my first T.M. Wright book called Strange Seed. I wasn't expected much and it blew me away! (It's why I try to avoid getting my hopes up, so I hope I don't do it to others. But check it out if you have time...you may be happily surprised like I was!)

Read that recently right after The Institute. So good.

I loved this one too, David! It was the best one I had read from him in a long time! :)
finished with,,,
unfortunately was a little underwhelmed, was getting confused with the characters (but I have taken a break from reading since having the little one so maybe I am just a little rusty)
Didn't really get going while the end for me but by then was a little too late to redeem or come back!

I was one of the few who didn't care that much for HEX. I thought it was just okay.

I finished Different season by King and loved it. Some great characters in there and Apt Pupil and The body will definitely stick with me.
I finished off Alice by Christina Henry on Halloween and it was so much fun! I mean, dark, grisly and brutal, but FUN. Definitely need to read more by this author!

by Robert R. McCammon. A terrific installment in this historical fiction series. And now the wait for the next book begins!

YAY for McDowell!
I finished reading

Finished reading
last weekend. The story was told in a wildly different way than what I had expected. But it was a gripping tale that had me sneaking in just a few more pages each night before sleep.
I finished listening to
by Ray Clueley. I enjoyed it! (There just aren't enough mermaid tales out there.)

finished off this creepy little tale tonight....
would have been a perfect Halloween story, little fast paced at time but a solid little horror novel, enjoyed it overall.
finished off this odd grisly little book...
lots of folklore, mythology and even some voodoo thrown in, little fast paced but i'll be reading the second one at some point.
two more done for this year. The Reckoning by Sarah Pinborough
A solid haunted house novel. Ends like a lot of good and bad horror films do with the epilogue giving me a good chuckle. 3/5
The Bridge by John Skipp & Craig Spector
Wow. This book is a bullet to the face if there ever was one. I totally understand the waves this made when originally released as it has lost none of its visceral power. A bona fide genre classic, as relevant today as it was yesterday. 5/5
while it has some grisly deaths, I admit it's not really horror, but I really enjoyed the first in the series of this one..... Even put off reading so I could enjoy the book for a little longer, will definitely be reading the next book soon!
