What Are You Reading? - 2019

Thanks, Margo! Hopefully I will.

hope you enjoy it! A tip for when you start it - try and read as much as you can in one sitting to keep track of all that's going on. :-

No it’s not scary at all, Peggy - more of a what’s going on, whodunit and a bit of fantasy thrown in. Here’s an article on it: https://www.theguardian.com/books/201...

Thanks for the tip! I will make sure to do that.

I will start The Labyrinth of the Spirits tomorrow. I think I'm a little late for the buddy read.

Maybe I should have joined in after all then!

Margo, I wanted to do that too! I had only 40 pages to go, but I was soooo tired. I figured it would be better to save it and read it properly the next day, then to read it half asleep or rush through it to get to bed. I'm working from home today so I can't really read it until 5pm, but the book is tempting me to pick it up!

I'm not sure.. it fitted a few, but I think for me it worked best for the Scottish setting / Scottish author task.

I read the blurb, thought it was interesting, wanted to add it to my wishlist, but it was already there!

(I apologise that sometimes pictures don't show in the app.)

Also, James, who is not typically a reader except for newspapers, has agreed to read several books together this year. He got to pick the first one and chose True Story: Murder, Memoir, Mea Culpa. I was a little put off when, within the first couple of pages, the author tells us he was fired from the New York Times Magazine for passing a story off as true when some parts of it were not. We've decided to continue with it, though; and I'm really excited about reading it together and being able to discuss it. He's also been reading more on his own. I'm not sure if he fell and hit his head, or was abducted by aliens, or what; but I'll take it. LOL

Do you remember when a book with just a few illustrations was a real challenge? I remember a childhod book I really wanted to read, with soooo few pictures that I doubted I'd ever manage to read the gap from one to the next.. Well I did... and didn't look back!
So here I am a 'few' years down the line (ahem). I've started a re-read of the illustrated and extended version of 'Salem's Lot! Find myself thinking "Wow! Illustrations!!" whilst repeating the childhood habit of looking ahead to see the pictures first (I AM trying to fight the urge! Honest!)
Feel like I've achieved the cycle!
.... Just saying!!
I'm going to sooo enjoy this...

My Review: www.goodreads.com/review/show/72804910

I like the sound of The 7½ Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle . Another one for me TBR (lol)

Oh yes! I remember the first time that happened to me. It was with The Wonderful Wizard of Oz. :)

I really should get to Hope Farm soon.

This group has caused my TBR to go nucleal LOL

Every now and again I think I need to dump a bunch of books from my wishlist, but it's a rather formidable task.

If it does exist I want one Annerlee! If it doesn't exist it needs to be in invented!!

I spent some time last week doing this. I looked at books with less than 3.5 stars and those that had been on my wishlist the longest. I got rid of a hundred or so.

Sounds great Annerlee. The last illustrated book i read was A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms and remember really liking their addition.

Aww, that's a shame, Janice. As you say though, maybe he is one of those authors that you are just not going to click with.

I should do that too. A hundred is impressive!

Good for you Sarah! My problem is that my TBR is books I own. I did a big cull last year and got rid of many impulse buys that i will never read but alas, it is growing again!
