I bought the Edge of Lost a while ago and it's still on my TBR. I didn't realize it was the same author. I'll have to try that one first and see what I think. It may have just been poor timing for the story on my part. Her books do sound interesting to me.

I finished The Wolf in the Whale for the movie mania challenge. Now I can restart The Priory of the Orange Tree without feeling pressure that I had an unfinished book in the wings.

I finished listening Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet. Unfortunately I am not very impressed by it and gave it only 2 stars. It happened to be set in Seattle, Washington State, so it fit a task for the MM Challenge, which I wasn't expecting.

I am half way through March and enjoying it a lot.

I was reluctant to pick it up as I didn't love Ove, but I'm very glad I did :-)

I finished Pretty When She Kills. While I enjoyed it, I'm not rushing out to get the last book in the trilogy. I'll snag it another time.

Tomorrow, I'll start Heir to Sevenwaters on my quest to finish the series. I can use it in my movie mania as well.

That is my favorite by Backman. It's very different from his typical style though, almost seemed like a different author.

If you ever needed an example of two over-used words, resilience and resourcefulness, A Tree Grows in Brooklyn is it! Betty Smith's classic story of childhood before World War One is barely disguised as fiction. How her mother turned bread into so many different meals is hard to imagine!

I finished two books yesterday and I wouldn't recommend either.

A Thousand Ships was the better of the two but it is not aimed at those, like me, who dabble in classics. I didn't have enough knowledge of the subject and this was not a book to explain itself as it want along. I loved Circe but felt out of my depth in this one.

The second was Meddling Kids. This was just a mess. The characters were not believable but neither were the comical as might be expected from a story based on Scooby Doo. I gave this 1 star.

That's a shame about A Thousand Ships, Margo. You would think she would have made it a bit more accessible to those who don't have an extensive knowledge of classics. I studied Ancient History at university and we covered some of the classics during the first year so I'm hoping I will get on a bit better with it.

Read Everything Inside - short stories. Not as enjoyable as two of Edwidge Danticat's I've enjoyed, but still worth reading - gave it 3 stars.

WW II non-fiction that reads like historical fiction - wow! Agents of Influence: A British Campaign, a Canadian Spy, and the Secret Plot to Bring America into World War II - It's scheduled for release next month. Review:

I finished Good Girl, Bad Girl but was a bit disappointed in it. Robotham is one of my favourite writers so I'm hoping it was just a bad book rather than a reflection on his new MC.

talking of favourite writers, I've just started Fingersmith for the MM challenge.

I'm going to start Ready Player One. I'm still not convinced it's a book for me, but with all those raving reviews I have to give it a go. I'm a bit worried about all those 80s references though, as it appears they are what makes the book so enjoyable for many people. As I was born in 1984 and not in the US, I'm afraid there may be many that are lost on me.

I agree, Peggy. It is an enjoyable book. I had the same worries you have. I was born in 78 (so I was too young in the 80s), not in the US, and I have never been a game player myself. I am sure I missed things, but still found it a very good story.

Good fun. A real story with plenty of artistic licence, Girl Waits with Gun is the first of a popular mystery series by Amy Stewart. It takes place in New Jersey, USA, just before World War One. I'll be back for more!

:-) Peggy. I was disappointed in TofA too and felt it was a 2.5. I was in two minds about picking this one up, but wanted to give the author another go. This one definitely worked better for me. But there are too many books out there...

Yes, I thought so too. I'll have a look for it.

The stupid thing is that my ebook doesn't have any chapters in it for some reason, so I don't want to read any spoilers until I'm finished.
