I finished NOS4A2 I was a bit disappointed. It won numerous awards for horror. I was hoping for delicious chills. It just didn't scare me. I guess I have become fearless/

I finished book 2 in the Winternight Trilogy, The Girl in the Tower. It was much better than the first book. I hope to read the final book in July.

I enjoy this author. She writes believable chars. The stories are all very different. They are a bit romancey. But I still enjoy them

If only the world would learn the lessons of the late Elie Wiesel, Holocaust survivor and renowned teacher and peace activist. Ariel Burger was his student and friend, now a teacher himself. His Witness: Lessons from Elie Wiesel's Classroom is a must-read.

I'm working through some new releases for series that I've been reading. I started with Wolfhunter River, which was the most recent book in the Stillhouse Lake series. It was a transitional book in the series and I thought was really well done. I just finished The Night Window, which was a really good wrap up to the Jane Hawk series.

I'm starting The Vanishing Season today, which is the next book in The Collector series. Then, next up I'll be reading Dark Site, which is the newest in the Sam Dryden series. All of the books were released in just over a month from April 23rd to May 28th.

Coffin Road is a pretty grim address, but in this case, it's the only starting point a man with amnesia has in the mystery by Peter May. Outer Hebrides, Scotland! Storms, lighthouses, murder!

I keep putting on priority list but something always happens. At the moment I giving preference to library books over books that I liked the sound of so much that I bough them - mad!

Saying that, my hold on The Silence of the Girls has just come through (finally!!!) and I am looking forward to that. There have been some negative reviews (yours included I think Lisa) but I will be able to find out for myself now. Circe has set the bar for mythology a bit high this year :-)

Yes, The Silence of the Girls was a DNF for me, Margo. I found it very disappointing. Hopefully you will have better luck with it. I agree about Circe setting the bar high for mythology retellings. Between that and The Song of Achilles, Madeline Miller is really leading the way with that genre at the moment.

I finished The Stone Sky for the buddy read and movie challenge. It seemed to take me an age to read. Now on to Grave Peril. I needed something easy and light. I think it fits a task in the movie challenge too.

I started listening to an interview with author Jojo Moyes about her popular Me Before You, and the interviewer warned me to go make a cup of tea if I didn't want to hear spoilers. I decided, better than that, I'll read the book first! And very glad I did, too! I enjoyed both the book and the interview.

I finisned The Tea Girl of Hummingbird Lane and found it a slow listen. I gave it 3 stars. It had some interesting historical bits so I'm not sorry I read it.

I'm about 25% into The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo and am really drawn into the story.

I have put The Burning Chambers back on my shelf for now. I started it, quite enjoyed the couple of chapters I read, but then I was unable to read for a few days and now I'm just not in the mood for such a long book.

I am going to start Wakenhyrst instead, just because. I really enjoyed Michelle Paver's two ghost stories, Dark Matter and Thin Air, so I'm looking forward to seeing what she does with the gothic genre.

I also started Very British Problems Volume III: Still Awkward, Still Raining yesterday. I enjoyed the first two volumes so thought I would check out the third.

Just finished The Book Woman of Troublesome Creek . I think for readers who enjoy Historical Fiction they might well enjoy this one.

Margo, I've just started The Red Tent so I'm glad you read it too. I'll be interested to see what you have to say about it in the thread. I'm not really far enough in yet to have a good idea of where it's going. I'm familiar with the biblical accounts of the characters and am really interested to see how the book stacks up. The female perspective is intriguing.

I read The Tea Girl of Hummingbird Lane and liked it but didn't love it. As you say in another post, some parts of it were really slow. I did enjoy the way she wrote about the ins and outs of the world of tea. Who knew? Some of that stuff was fascinating.

Just finished The Murmur of Bees which was my first 5 stars of the year. It was worth waiting. I loved the characters and found the writing very evocative. I would have liked to read the original in Spanish, but I happened to get this freebie in English and here we are. I would really like to reread it in Spanish in the future. In any case I have to say that the translation by Simon Bruni was incredibly good. So good that I am considering reading The Light of the Fireflies next just because he is the translator. I will wait until tomorrow to decide.

Great that you loved it, Sandra. I'm hoping all the free translated "world books" Amazon made available are stellar, so more readers are encouraged to step into other cultures/countries.

Tricia, I will also be interested to see what I'm going to say about The Red Tent! It was a story that packed so much into those pages, and I loved it so much that, that I am a bit intimided to try to review! I thought that some time to reflect might help but still nothing and time is running out lol

Re: The Tea Girl of Hummingbird Lane - I will never look at the humble cuppa in the same way again :-D

Finished The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo and loved it. It was a proper , out fashioned, life story of a fictional movie star. So well written that I can't wait to check out other stuff by the author.

I have moved on to An American Marriage which is slow going.

I had a real fantasy binge buy in a recent audible sale so I have a TON of fantasy to read. I've decided to cancel my Scribd memership, for now, and concentrate of reading what I own. So, my membership ends on june 14th and til then I will be trying to read all I can from my Scribd TBR. It is a great recourse for ebooks and audiobooks and I look forward to returning to it after my solo fantasy read-a-thon. :-)

I am glad this one was good, Lilisa. The only other word book I had tried was from last year's offers and it was a DNF for me. It was The House by the River
