Hi, i found this online, could it be Dark Inside by Jeyn Roberts? http://www.dark-readers.com/2011/08/b...
Although the the title might match, this is not The Darkest Minds by Alexandra Bracken. I've read that series and it isn't similar to what you've described. ;)

- Ares is on the bus to school to rehearse her school's production of Alice in Wonderland when the apocalypse occurs. A mysterious boy with dark hair—named Daniel, possibly?–continuously shows up to help her.
- She and Daniel end up spending a night hiding in a department store where they play Monopoly and steal the bikes to get away.
- SPOILERS: Mason meets up with a bubbly blond girl named Chickadee and they are abandoned by her friend later on. Chickadee and Mason fall in love, but Chickadee ends up dying because she has diabetes and couldn't access insulin. (This plot point broke my heart, but it was amazing.)
- The third perspective was a girl, can't remember her name, but she did end up looting a diner with a guy she teamed up with and they ate burgers.
- SPOILERS: the book ends on an ambiguous note where all the characters carve their initials into a wooden bench—I think—and plan to continue surviving.
I found this book randomly in the library while I was in high school and loved it. Might have been about five years ago? It's my favorite apocalyptic I've read ever so far. Please help me find this!
