Cathie | 5 comments I am looking for a book that I read in the early 1960's when I was in elementary school and the book was probably old even then. I think the hard cover book was blue and it had maybe 5 short stories in it. The first story was about a pig that had a straight tail and went around asking other farm animals what he needed to do to get a curly tail. Another story had something to do with billy goats but I don't remember just what they did.

Diana Welsch | 530 comments I found a book called The Pig with the Straight Tail bu Louis Hazam. It was published in 1942 so the time period seems to fit. Here's a link, do you recognize the cover?

Cathie | 5 comments Sorry but that isn't it. I think the age would be for children 6 - 9 maybe. The book was mostly story and not very many pictures. Thanks for the try.

Diana Welsch | 530 comments Maybe you're thinking of Easy Growth In Reading Second Reader Level Two The Story Road, the story called "Polly Piggie's Curl."

I found someone on a forum mention this about it: "this little pig with a straight tail was forced by her sow of a mother to sit for hours in the hot sun with her mud-soaked tail wrapped around a stick. "

There are several versions of the cover.

Cathie | 5 comments I do have 1 more book that I would like to find. My brother in law read this book when he was in Vietnam in the mid 1960s. The author had been a p.o.w. in the Korean war or WWII. While in the p.o.w. camp he thought up different ways to solve math problems. The math problems could be real simple or a little bit harder. I hope I have this right. Has anyone heard of this book?

Diana Welsch | 530 comments So that more people see your question, you should make a separate thread for this book, with a descriptive title such as "Korean P.O.W. solving math problems."

Cathie, for future posts please put descriptive info in your header. Many people don't click unless they know what a query is concerning.

Cathie, is this solved then? You thought that Diana's suggestion @4 might be it.
