Goldilocks walks into a house belonging to three bears – a mother, father, and child. They return home to find that someone has tried to eat their porridge, sat on their chairs, and find Goldilocks sleeping in one of their beds too. Goldilocks then wakes up and strolls out of the house in fear as far as she can.

I would recommend this book for early years and key stage one pupils as it can be used to form a range of activities besides reading the book and is written in a very simple, yet effective manner. Activities could comprise of children acting out the story and focusing on the gestures, expressions and voice tone of the bears. They can also have a literacy lesson on this book, whereby they write a letter of apology from Goldilocks’ perspective to the three bears or perhaps to come up with their own imaginative stories and fairytales.

This is a book which I feel does not necessarily have to follow a lesson plan as it could be read to children as a class or in groups because it an enjoyable and memorable one and also conveys a real life message. Although I would recommend this book for the younger age group, the message conveyed within the story is also appropriate for older children.
