Read-a-Thon #4 - Team 3 Group Discussion
I finished Kingdom of Ash today! It works for cold/chilly atmosphere.I also read I Hate Fairyland, Vol. 2: Fluff My Life which works for comic/graphic novel.
I read 344 pages giving me a running total of 949.
Have a great day tomorrow if you're celebrating Christmas!
Today's summary:Started and finished The Stars Are Fire
241 pages, which brings me to a total of 405 pages so far.
- This book is for one of my ATY prompts,
- It can count for the read-a-thon prompt:
18. Read a book set in a country different from your own
If I do any more reading tonight, I'll count it in tomorrow's summary.
I haven't done as much reading as I would have liked, but I wanted to check in and say hello. I have read another 40 pages of The Clockmaker's Daughter, and 62 pages of Alaskan Holiday. I should get Alaskan Holiday done tomorrow. I am not sure if I am getting any new books tomorrow, but I know I am giving some. Share what good reads you receive if you do!! Merry Christmas and great job team!
Today I read another 121 pages of Nineteen Minutes, and I tried the (very difficult) Hidden Books game.
Merry Christmas everyone!I have read an additional 210 pages and completed The Incendiaries. This puts my page total to 548.
My next book will be When Breath Becomes Air.
I read another 30 pages of Memoirs of a Geisha last night. Will try my best to get more done today but my kids are pushing to put together all their Christmas gifts and make things so we will see.
I’ve got everyone’s updates for today, and we finished square 19 on the board. I am going to read a bit before bed to contribute my own pages.
For December 25: I read 211 pages of Into Thin Air: A Personal Account of the Mount Everest Disaster
- some editions of this book show snow/ice on the cover
And I listened to 1.5 hours of Mad About the Boy
Didn't read as much as I had planned today, but I read another 180 pages to finish off Nineteen Minutes. That makes 2 books that I've finished since the start of the readathon, and a total of 745 pages. Also, I'm not super familiar with the books on our bingo card, but I'm thinking the connection might be that (view spoiler)
Hello! I have finished reading When Breath Becomes Air and now my total page count is 756. Since we have already completed the nonfiction square, this book can also count for “a book published in December or January square”, since it was published in January 2016. It is also another ATY challenge read for me.
My next book is The Kiss Quotient. Excited about this one! I need a light-hearted read.
Hi team. The last couple of days have been busy, but I've managed to listen to 6 hours of The Book Thief audio book, and read 200 more pages of War and Peace.
I completed 30 mins of audiobook yesterday and another 40 pages. Today should be a lot better now that the craziness is over.
Great job everyone! On top of #19 from last night, we’ve now completed squares 6 and 8 as well.ETA now #7 as well!
I hope everybody had a great day yesterday! My day was exhausting.I only read 80 pages yesterday (and I thought that was pretty good considering how many gatherings I attended).
I finally got a little window to grab a book after some lovely, but hectic Christmas days. Yesterday we were 30 relatives gathered at brunch! After that I took a sneak peak at one of the books one of my nieces got (Luridiumstyven/(William Wenton and the Luridium Thief) and ended up reading the whole book! It was a nice, fluffy YA/children fantasy, quite fitting for the holiday. It adds 238 pages to my page count, and fit prompt #7; child main character. Hope everyone had a lovely celebration either yesterday or Christmas evening 🤩 I got a couple of books under the tree, which is always nice 🎄 But now I am kinda in the mood of sneaking in one more of the other books my nieces got (among them an illustrated Harry Potter from myself 😅). Fluffy reading while on holiday is always nice:)
I am glad everyone had a happy holiday! I had a ton of travelling to do, and I stayed up super late to get these books done. The Clockmaker's Daughter is in my ATY challenge and could count for the chilly atmosphere. I finished 113 pages.
Alaskan Holiday could count for snow on the cover or beautiful cover imo. I finished 79 pages.
I am now going to read Wonder for the child main character prompt. I will update later with page count!

All of the book specific prompts are complete now, except for SNOW, which I hope to finish today (Record of a Spaceborn Few). We just need pages, finishes, children’s books, and audio hours! We have square 2 completed and ready to uncover.
I haven't done much reading the last couple of days but I've snuck in 1.25 hours of audiobook. Hoping to spend the evening reading The Last.
I have finished my second book - Mr. Dickens and His Carol. I read another 157 pages yesterday, & my total number of pages so far is 454.
Bottom left book seems to be (view spoiler)I mentioned this yesterday, but I'm not sure anyone saw since I edited my comment to add it after the fact. I think the connection between all the books on our board might be (view spoiler) although I'm not 100% sure since I haven't read any of them.
So far today I've read 157 pages and finished Into Thin Air: A Personal Account of the Mount Everest DisasterThis is another book read for my ATY challenge.
I believe this brings my total page count to 773.
We read two sweet picture books for bedtime tonight; Den lille piken med fyrstikkene = The Little Match Girl and Snekker Andersen Og Julenissen/(Christmas Eve at Santa's), which can cover two of the picture books needed and 52 pages.
Adding to my previous update, since it was missed in the last board update...Today I've read 157 pages of and finished Into Thin Air: A Personal Account of the Mount Everest Disaster
Plus 23 pages of Out of Africa.
-I believe this brings my total page count to 796.
-Into Thin Air is another book read for my ATY challenge (Total: 2).
Also listened for one hour to Mad About the Boy
I read Curious George Dragon Dance, Curious George Makes Maple Syrup and Curious George Windy Delivery to my daughter for a total of 72 pages.
I read 57 pages of Einstein's Theories of Relativity and Gravitation and 70 pages of Memoirs of a Geisha. I also listened to 1.5 hours of Anansi Boys.
I’m pretty sure I’ve got everything updated through this post now- let me know if something looks off.
As for me, I finished Record of a Spaceborn Few and with it, my AtY challenge! Two more squares to uncover: 12 and 22.
Laura wrote: "Rachel, [spoilers removed]I forgot to comment earlier but your board has been updated."
Fair enough. Just a guess, since I haven't read any of those books!
Today I read 230 pages of Most Wanted, which is for the prompt a medical/legal thriller for ATY. I also participated in the Bookish Questions game.
I finished the last 85 pages of The Scarlet Letter today and read 210 from a book called Peep Show. I also started My French Whore. I only read 20 pages of that. So...315 pages for today!
I've finished listening to The Book Thief at work today. That's 14 hours of audiobook. It counts for AtY

Congrats finishing your AtY challenge!
Hello! I have finished another book, The Kiss Quotient. This was an ATY challenge read. My current page count is now 1070!
We’ve reached the highest pages goal, great job! We should have square 8 as well as 9, I think I read a number wrong somewhere along the way.
As for our bingo card, the only one I think I’ve read is Days without End - which was kind of a western and the main characters were an old man and a young girl. Does that help connect it to any of the others?
Unless I'm missing a guess, it looks like your team only needs to guess the book on the top left (squares 1, 2, 7, 8)
