Celia Buell (semi hiatus) (celiareadsbooks) | 3944 comments I will definitely have Things Fall Apart by Chinua Achebe done by check in next week, which will get 2 page points and 2 BR points. Also hoping to have Hidden Figures The American Dream and the Untold Story of the Black Women Mathematicians Who Helped Win the Space Race by Margot Lee Shetterly done by then but I'm not sure.

Celia Buell (semi hiatus) (celiareadsbooks) | 3944 comments You guys, I'm kind of in a reading slump. I finished The Radium Girls The Dark Story of America's Shining Women by Kate Moore and I'm trying to read Hidden Figures The American Dream and the Untold Story of the Black Women Mathematicians Who Helped Win the Space Race by Margot Lee Shetterly but it's just not holding my attention. Sometimes when I get like this it's really hard for me to pick up anything new. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks

message 708: by Celia (new)

Celia Buell (semi hiatus) (celiareadsbooks) | 3944 comments But does anyone want to BR The Study of Animal Languages by Lindsay Stern ? It came out a week ago but I have an ARC from Goodreads.

message 709: by Jammin Jenny (new)

Jammin Jenny (jamminjenny) | 3851 comments I'll read it with you. I just placed a hold on the only copy in the library so hopefully I'll get it in a few days. Do you want to start on March 12?

March 12 sounds good. Do you want me to request the thread?

I loved the Lunar Chronicles! That was also a few years ago when I read them when I was super into YA.

message 729: by Celia (last edited Mar 07, 2019 03:07PM) (new)

Celia Buell (semi hiatus) (celiareadsbooks) | 3944 comments I can probably join the Scythe (Arc of a Scythe, #1) by Neal Shusterman BR as well. I'm in the middle of Born a Crime Stories From a South African Childhood by Trevor Noah right now, and then of course The Study of Animal Languages by Lindsay Stern , but I could add Scythe as well.

message 730: by Anna 'Bookbuyer' (new)

Anna 'Bookbuyer' (bookbuyer) | 9905 comments Awesome! Jenny and I both are about two books away from Scythe so it should all work out lovely. :)

Anna 'Bookbuyer' (bookbuyer) | 9905 comments She is! She is our power horse! ^-^

Meanwhile I have taken to being lazy and am more focused on my puppy issues. I'm watching as many puppy videos as I can to 'train' myself for getting my puppy.

message 734: by Jammin Jenny (new)

Jammin Jenny (jamminjenny) | 3851 comments Puppy comes first!

message 735: by Anna 'Bookbuyer' (new)

Anna 'Bookbuyer' (bookbuyer) | 9905 comments lol. Thanks. I do have a LOT I need to read before puppy comes though. It will also help me pass the time. Right now I could probably tell you almost to the hour of when I'm suppose to have her by! :P

message 736: by Jammin Jenny (new)

Jammin Jenny (jamminjenny) | 3851 comments Hey team! We met our goal this week! Just wanted to share the good news.

message 737: by Celia (new)

Celia Buell (semi hiatus) (celiareadsbooks) | 3944 comments Yay! I'll likely be done with Born a Crime Stories From a South African Childhood by Trevor Noah by tomorrow, should I still post it or should I hold off til after Tuesday so we get the points?

message 738: by Caroline (new)

Caroline | 2102 comments I’ve noticed sometimes Felicia gives extra points for exceeding the goal instead of just meeting it. So either one could be good.. not sure

message 739: by Jammin Jenny (new)

Jammin Jenny (jamminjenny) | 3851 comments I say go ahead and post it!

message 740: by Celia (new)

Celia Buell (semi hiatus) (celiareadsbooks) | 3944 comments Okay. I'll probably finish tomorrow. =)

I'm enjoying it. I don't get Comedy Central, so I've only ever seen the show once or twice, but the book is really well written.

I wasn't really on for the weekend. Thanks guys! Lots of audios last week. I'll post my other books tomorrow to help with next week's goal.
Book and Jenny, I'm listening to Circus of the Damned (Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter, #3) by Laurell K. Hamilton today and reading Bite (Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter, #8.5; Sookie Stackhouse, #5.1; Undead, #2.5; Mageverse, #1.5) by Laurell K. Hamilton tonight after work!

Celia Buell (semi hiatus) (celiareadsbooks) | 3944 comments What time do I need to have stuff posted by tomorrow? I'm still working with Born a Crime Stories From a South African Childhood by Trevor Noah but I can try to hurry if it would make a difference. Although we already met our goal, so...¯\_(ツ)_/¯

message 749: by Celia (new)

Celia Buell (semi hiatus) (celiareadsbooks) | 3944 comments If not I'll have that and Translations by Brian Friel done by next check in, and maybe even The Study of Animal Languages by Lindsay Stern . I'm hopeful here.

message 750: by Caroline (new)

Caroline | 2102 comments The check in is tonight, not tomorrow. So no rush, it will go to next week either way. :)
