Hmm, so probably more likely to have YA romance, right?

For Darkness Shows the Stars - Scifi retelling of Persuasion
The Distance Between Us - no idea about this one, just found it on a list ;)
The Selection - had this on my TBR for a while
These Broken Stars - haven't read this but loved other things by these authors

Thanks Lauren!

I really haven't had luck with this category so far - I've picked books I probably wouldn't have because they fit the challenge so I guess they just aren't to my taste. The last one Crema wasn't just about taste though - it was really poorly edited - so many typos, etc.

message 66: by Michaele (new)

Michaele | 6549 comments At this point would it help if I read another?

message 67: by MountainKat, Moderator (new)

MountainKat | 31599 comments Michaele wrote: "At this point would it help if I read another?"

Only if the other team members don't complete their books. I think the team has 6 books so far, if the others finished you have enough books for all the roses available. If they don't, your team still has the opportunity to earn a bonus rose for finishing 8 books no matter who reads them.

message 68: by Louise (new)

Louise | 1131 comments Hold off for now Michaele. We'll see where everyone is at tomorrow. 😊

message 72: by Louise (new)

Louise | 1131 comments We are at 8 books for the week getting us our 2nd rose.
April & Slytherpuff how are your books coming along, are you going to finish by deadline?

message 73: by [deleted user] (new)

I still haven’t been successful in finding a book plus I am a slow reader. I probably shouldn’t have signed up for the challenge. I don’t want to disadvantage the team if I can’t get a book done in time

Would more suggestions help? Is YA the best bet for your library?

message 75: by [deleted user] (new)

Yes, YA Is the best. I doubt I’ll be able ti read a book in 2 days

message 76: by Michaele (new)

Michaele | 6549 comments I bet we could find something short.

message 77: by Michaele (new)

Michaele | 6549 comments Or we could focus on finding something for next week so you can start reading Saturday - and not worry about this week :)

message 78: by Lauren (new)

Lauren loves llamas (laureninca) | 157 comments Yes, MountainKat's already said this'll be the "Visiting Family" week so you'll have two weeks to read the next book!

The options for A are:

A is for Alpha - Read a book tagged as alpha or described in précis.
A is for Alphabet - Read a book with 10 or more different letters in the title.
A is for Another - Read a book in a series longer than a trilogy (at least 4 books).
A is for Animal - Read a book with an animal on cover, about shifters or tagged with animal or pet.

Slytherpuff, I've got to get to bed, but I'll do some research tomorrow so hopefully you can pick up some books on Friday!

message 79: by Lauren (new)

Lauren loves llamas (laureninca) | 157 comments Haha, I lied. OK!

Shiver fits Another and Animal.
Wicked Lovely fits Alphabet and Another.
City of Bones is tagged with "alpha," and fits Alphabet and Another.

message 80: by [deleted user] (new)

Thank you. I have one that works for the 10 different letters

message 81: by Lauren (new)

Lauren loves llamas (laureninca) | 157 comments I think "alpha" might be the hard one for YA. If there's anything you're considering reading, let me know and I'll see if I can check out if it qualifies.

message 82: by Michaele (last edited Dec 20, 2018 10:02AM) (new)

Michaele | 6549 comments I think Nowhere But Here would work - its tagged as Alpha and is YA. I was also able to find it at my library when I read it. The problem is it is pretty long.

Have you ever tried audio books? They aren't for everyone, but I love them!

Stir Me Up would also work, it's a bit shorter. I haven't read it, but the reviews are good.

message 83: by Louise (new)

Louise | 1131 comments I've sent April a PM but had no reply. Hopefully she will check in soon.

message 84: by [deleted user] (new)

I haven't done audio books yet. I am considering trying them but I can't see myself sitting and listening without doing something else.

message 85: by [deleted user] (new)

The two books I might read are
Sam's Letters to Jennifer
Seventeenth Summer
if they fit a task

message 86: by Michaele (new)

Michaele | 6549 comments Slytherpuff wrote: "I haven't done audio books yet. I am considering trying them but I can't see myself sitting and listening without doing something else."

I tend to listen to them at work, or when I'm driving/walking. I think my mind would wonder if I just tried to listen without doing something else. But that's why I like audio books - I can multi-task :)

message 87: by [deleted user] (new)

Personally I’m not much of a multitasker. Noise would distract me from work but I do read physical books on car rides

message 88: by Michaele (new)

Michaele | 6549 comments What are y'all doing for the holidays?

message 89: by Michaele (new)

Michaele | 6549 comments Does anyone want to try for the fast rose - the one the team who completes four books first gets?

I think we'd need four team members who are willing to try. It would also help if the 4 were in time zones where you wouldn't be asleep when the challenge is announced :). And we could try to pick short books in each category so we'd be prepared when the challenge is announced to start right away and hopefully finish first.

I am willing, but I also understand if others aren't - so no pressure from me.

message 90: by April (new)

April (aprillivings) | 56 comments Week 1: Mad About the Banker by Piper Rayne
Length: 334 Pages
Qualifies: Banker in the title
Rating: 5 Stars (I love Piper Rayne and I’m thrilled to read their backlist for anything!!!)

message 91: by April (new)

April (aprillivings) | 56 comments Sorry forgot book link and date completed:
https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/3...
Completed 12/20

I apologize. Nursing is nuts and I ended up working about 80 hours this week. I actually reread Sinner also but I couldn’t get it posted in time.

message 92: by Louise (new)

Louise | 1131 comments Thanks April. I'll check us in for this week.

message 93: by Louise (new)

Louise | 1131 comments We're checked in for our first date. Time to prepare for our 2nd.

Our options are from one of the following:

A is for Alpha - Read a book tagged as alpha or described in précis.
A is for Alphabet - Read a book with 10 or more different letters in the title.
A is for Another - Read a book in a series longer than a trilogy (at least 4 books).
A is for Animal - Read a book with an animal on cover, about shifters or tagged with animal or pet.

This date is going to be "visiting the family" which gives us until midnight on the 4th Jan to complete.

Slytherpuff you need to complete a book for this date.

If we want to try for the fast Rose someone will need to post our completion in the announcement thread , the date is announced at 11pm my time, so it will have already been one by the time I wake up.

message 94: by Lauren (new)

Lauren loves llamas (laureninca) | 157 comments I'm game for trying for the first rose. I've been looking for some shorter books for each option, but I'd love some more recommendations. If they're short, I could probably manage two on my own. I have a lot of cleaning to do today, but there's always audiobooks!

message 95: by Michaele (last edited Dec 22, 2018 02:22PM) (new)

Michaele | 6549 comments These are the short books I've come up with for each category - they are all m/m - and are on audible (3 are in the romance package)

A is for Alpha - Mark and Tony
A is for Alphabet - Frat Boy and Toppy
A is for Another - Seth and David - this one is later in the series, but I don't think it matters - Mark and Tony could work here too.
A is for Animal -Freckles

message 96: by Louise (new)

Louise | 1131 comments Date 2 - A - Visiting the Family

A is for Another

Read a book in a series longer than a trilogy (at least 4 books). This must be 4 primary books, you can read any book in the series including novellas if they are 90+ pages.

Remember books must be 90 pages and MPG romance!!

You have until Friday, January 4 @ Midnight US EST to post your completion(s).

MountainKat | 31599 comments Checking your posts for date 1, most are good. You earned 2 roses this week! Slytherpuff needs to complete the task this week or she will be eliminated. ☹️

April, the title is not acceptable for qualification but your book was tagged with billionaire so it does qualify. I'm allowing that this week, but will be more strict later. Next time try to get it all in one post - I understand working those kind of hours makes it hard to keep it all together so no worries! Also, try to get it posted a little earlier - you barely made the cutoff and only if I give a small buffer. 😬
