Sorry, I didn't know we had to post before Friday at midnight EST. So I guess my last book doesn't count (even if I finished reading it on the 21st), but luckily we already earned all the roses!
Next time I'll make sure I post on time :)

Liz (Bugetta) (bugetta) | 260 comments Our possible tasks for Week Two:

A is for Alpha - Read a book tagged as alpha or described in précis.
A is for Alphabet - Read a book with 10 or more different letters in the title.
A is for Another - Read a book in a series longer than a trilogy (at least 4 books).
A is for Animal - Read a book with an animal on cover, about shifters or tagged with animal or pet.

I'm trying to find suitable books but I'm struggling with the "Animal" task!

message 62: by Liz (Bugetta) (new)

Liz (Bugetta) (bugetta) | 260 comments Me too! Usually I can find holiday books with an animal on the cover but they’re all too short. 🙁

Thanks Anja!
I mainly read contemporary and I just read a couple of PNR books a year. Anyway, I found a book with an animal on the cover on my TBR but I really hope we’ll get a different task!

message 66: by Liz (Bugetta) (new)

Liz (Bugetta) (bugetta) | 260 comments Thanks, Anja . I found a couple options also. I’ve got something for all the categories now, except Alpha which is one of my least favorite because “alpha” too often means alpha-hole. 😕

Chiara | 974 comments Hi everyone..4am here in Italy and I woke up just to check the category selected for the week and team 15 has already 4 completions...
I’m sorry to say it, but this is becoming a bit annoying and it’s taking away a bit of the fun of the challenge.. Every week, a couple of hours after the task is called, they already have the 4 completions. I’m sorry for the vent..I’m going back to sleep, since I basically woke up for nothing!

message 69: by Liz (Bugetta) (new)

Liz (Bugetta) (bugetta) | 260 comments Our new date task!

Date 2 - A - Visiting the Family A is for Another Read a book in a series longer than a trilogy (at least 4 books). This must be 4 primary books, you can read any book in the series including novellas if they are 90+ pages. Remember books must be 90 pages and MPG romance!! You have until Friday, January 4 @ Midnight US EST to post your completion(s). Please ensure that your completion post conforms to message #2 of your team thread.

Yes, they probably live in similar time zones and start reading/listening to their books at a high speed as soon as the task is called!
From now on I’ll take it easier and wait until Sunday morning to check the task, since team 15 always earns the “speed dating rose” less than 2 hours after the theme is called!

I agree with that as that competition is finished before I even wake up. It's true I wouldn't be able to read anything fast these first two weeks of the challenge as I work the Sunday morning shift but it would be good to know we from Europe at least stand a chance

I agree Anja, basically people like us who live in Europe don’t stand a chance. The theme is called when here it’s midnight and by the time we wake up, the game is already over! Since this challenge is different from the usual Pass the Parcel because speed matters every week to win, teams like us that have several members not living in the US don’t stand a chance!

MountainKat | 31598 comments Looking good! You've earned your first rose and are closing in on the second! Just missing a couple of team members' completions for the team rose too - and you have LOTS of time left for that.

I just want to clarify some things too. There is only one team that is all US and one other that is all North America, so similar time zones. Neither is the team that has earned the Speed Dating Rose. They are just super speedy. There is really no way to deal with time zone differences so it feels fair to everyone, we just do the best we can. I can say that I am working with the other mods for some changes if we repeat this challenge to try to lessen the impact of time and speed. This first time with the challenge, I was trying to keep it simple because I didn't want it to be too hard for the participants or for me since none of us knew how it was going to go. I hope you just have fun with it, that is the most important thing to me! That and you find some good books to read!

Yeah, bummer. No one shelved it as romance, which is how those Main Page Genre’s are created. 🙁
