Alongside the group's monthly reads of the award winners, we also have a Monthly Additional Nominee Reads.

Group members will vote on each the awards category nominees (minus the winner of course!) throughout the year to decide which runner up will be the additional group read.

The poll voting is always scheduled so members will have approximately a month's notice before the read is scheduled to start. The schedule and results will be posted below.

Once a category poll is closed we will then open up discussion for the rest of the nominee books to set up buddy reads for any members interested.

Deb Bartram | 115 comments Yay! I just started reading Becoming last week (actually I’m listening to it) and I can see going at a slow pace. It’s a very relaxing read and I’m finding it takes me out of current times (at least so far) and transports me.

Kristie | 5834 comments Mod
That's good, Deb. I'm glad you're finding it relaxing. I feel like being transported out of current times is a good thing lately. I'm looking forward to reading that one.

message 11: by Mary (new)

Mary (marushka80) | 5 comments I have no interest in reading by or about Michelle Obama so will be sitting this one out in February.

message 12: by Jenna (new)

Jenna | 81 comments I listened to the audiobook for Becoming in December and highly recommend it. Michelle narrates it herself.

message 13: by Deborah (new)

Deborah | 80 comments I will read this, but unfortunately, I got on the hold list too late to read it with the group. I am currently number 81 in the list and the library only has 20 copies.

message 14: by Janina (new)

Janina (sylarana) | 692 comments I tend to avoid all memoirs, but I think I'll join in on Becoming. I do think she is a remarkable woman. I don't know if I'll manage getting to it in February though, but Audio is a good idea. Sadie sounds interesting too.

message 15: by Deb (new)

Deb Bartram | 115 comments I am thoroughly enjoying this book and getting to know the regular folks behind the power couple. And I just really appreciate her ability to tell it like it was for her, in her childhood, as a young adult, an early marriage, and of course all that came after. But it’s from the viewpoint of one individual and her trying to make sense of it all. Very well done.

Vicki Willis | 813 comments Is there a thread yet for Sadie?
I am not sure if I just can't see it or if I am rushing because it isn't February yet, but I see the threads for the other books for the month up already.
:)

We usually create the threads on the 1st, though sometimes we get a little jump on it and post the last day of the month. It looks like Lynn and I posted a day early and Savanes is posting tomorrow. :)

Bummer. I think Life After Life ruined me for anything with multiple deaths. I just have no interest at all in reading anything where the MC dies repeatedly. It seems like there are plenty of other people that want to read it though, so that's good.

In October we'll be reading The Prince and the Dressmaker for Graphic Novel additional read.

For YA Fantasy, Children of Blood and Bone actually came on top of the poll. However I made a mistake and this book shouldn't have been part of this poll, because we'll be reading this in November (for the Debut Author Winner).
For that reason, we'll be reading the next book with the most votes which was The Cruel Prince
