Oh, John beat me to a Jane Austen nomination. I was going to nominate Persuasion, but I love Pride and Prejudice too.I second Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen
I second The Adventures of Tom Sawyer by Mark Twain
Linda wrote: "I nominate A Tree Grows in Brooklyn It came in second last time with only a 3 vote difference"It's so good! I second A Tree Grows in Brooklyn. I'll bet many here will identify with Francie's trips to the library.
Seconds both Both 'Slaughterhouse Five' and 'Zorba the Greek'I loved both of these so much when I first read them, but it's been a long time since then. Would be great to revisit.

This is an excellent start, all great suggestions! To keep supporting books from non-English language literatures, I will second these:
- The Master and Margarita, Russian
- Zorba the Greek, Greek
- South American Jungle Tales, Uruguayan
But the link Mariana provided for "South American Jungle Tales" is for an edition which doesn't have a good description of the work. So, have a look at these other two editions, with much better onesJungle Tales
South American Jungle Tales
Finally, some other Fitzgerald fans! I will second The Fellowship of the Ring, The Beautiful and Damned, and A Tree Grows in Brooklyn.

I second The Tenant of Wildfell Hall, The Beautiful and Damned, Slaughterhouse-Five and The Master and Margarita.
