Introduce Yourself to the Group - 2019
Hi guys, I'm Didi, an engineering student from Italy.I've just found this group and I can't wait to start one of your reading challenges!
I used to read a lot, a couple of books each week or so, then life got in the way and... well, 5 books in the whole 2019. Not good at all.
So, yeah, I'm ready to turn back into the bookworm I used to be :D
Hi everyone my name is Maha am from Qatar. I love reading a lot, mostly I read fiction in both languages Arabic and English. my goal in 2020 is to read 20 books.
Hi there, I am Betty from Germany and obviously I love books and reading :). Always a pleasure to talk about bookish things of all kinds as e.g. challenges :). I mostly read books from the library (my second home :)) and therefore I don't read new books. Especcially looking forward to the reveal of everyones reading years. :)
Hello everyone, I'm Dani and I'm from England. I'm quite busy with college, but I recently joined Goodreads and then this group to help me get back into reading. I read manga quite often already, and I like the fantasy genre most, but I'm also interested in thrillers, retellings, lgbt related books...and maybe some YA too?I have a small goal of 12 books in 2020. Group reading sounds fun so I'd love to try that at least once! If I can manage that alongside my other hobbies and college work, I'd be happy.

Welcome to the group! Have you read Red, White, and Royal Blue?
I really enjoyed it!
Hi, I'm a mom, avid reader, blogger, author and still working on finishing my previous reading challenges which has steadily increased since I'm addicted to reading.
Hello all, thank you for having me!I'm Carrie, from England. I've always loved reading since childhood but like a lot of people, I put it aside as life became more challenging. I've slowly become housebound and have mobility issues the only upside being.. I have more time for reading! I usually go for science fiction/fantasy, some contemporary, Agatha Christie and the like, but I'd love to broaden my choices as I'm sure there are many great titles that I'm missing out on. Happy reading :)
Welcome to you all! I love seeing the diversity that every member brings to our group. There is so much to join with our challenges. We also take suggestions from all of you so look around and see what looks like fun! Happy reading and welcome again.
Hi! I am Pam and live in TN. I like all kinds of books, mostly reading mystery, thrillers and sci-fi right now. I love a good cozy mystery with a cuppa tea on a rainy afternoon. I found Goodreads watching Maura from Bookslikewhoa on YouTube. I want to join some challenges for 2020 and want to read at least 52 books.
Hello everyone.
My name is Amartya and I am a college student from India.
I like reading crime thrillers.
I came across goodreads through booktubers.
My goal for 2020 is to read 25 books.

Hi!My name is Lindsey I am from Cincinnati, Ohio. In 2019 I challenged myself to read 52 books in 52 weeks currently I’m at 51/52. I didn’t have a specific theme for the books I was reading. Mostly just recommendations from friends or from goodreads.
For 2020 I wanted to challenge myself and get a little out of my comfort zone when it came to reading. I’m currently embarking on two challenges. One is a 52 books in 52 weeks each having a specific prompt that the books fall under. My second goal is to read 12 books using prompts from this group in a year for a total of 64 books.
I read a lot of different genres and as long as the characters are relatable and the language isn’t super hard to follow along with I can get into a lot of different genres.
Hey all! I'm Allyson and I'm from Los Angeles, CA. I didn't manage to hit my 2019 reading challenge goal but I'm trying to integrate reading back into my life in general! I'm currently planning to focus on the Clear the Shelves challenge and the Popsugar Challenge, and maybe participate in other challenges where I can. I do a lot of research for a podcast I write and host, so I read lots of article and book chapters but not so much full books, and I'd like to change that.
I am Suresh.I am from Mumbai, India.
I love fictional books. Mostly fantasy. My favorite series is Harry Potter. I haven't updated my Goodreads account yet so it shows only a few books that I have read.
I want to complete Popsugar challenge(First time) while also reading British poetry and play(Less experience here).
I found this group by follwing the link given on the popsugar challenge.
Hi! My name is Anda and I am from Romania.I enjoy reading and even though I don't have much spare time, I try to read every day.
My challenge for this year was to read 24 books and I will soon finish reading my 31st book. I enjoy reading nonfiction books and biographies. One of my favorite authors is Irvin Yalom.
I found this group randomly, but I am glad I did - I saw some really interesting challenges.

Hi Lindsey!! I'm from Cincinnati as well - great to see a "local" here!! My daughter's name is Lindsey as well - spelled the same way. I'm looking forward to the 2020 challenges! Good luck with your goals and Happy Reading!!!
Hi my name is Sheila Samuelson 29 years old in Upstate NY. I like to read Amish Fiction, Contemporary, Dystopian, Fantasy, Historical Fiction, Thriller, Mystery, Suspense, YA.
I found your group in the GROUPS section on Goodreads.
My goal for 2020 is to read 200 books.
Hi! My name is Jada. I like to read Christian, YA, non-fiction, and classics. My goal is to read 150 books next year.
Hello! I'm not actually new here, but I haven't participated in a long while, so I thought a re-intro would be appropriate. I hope to participate fully this coming year!- Where are you from?
I live near Waco, Texas, about halfway between Dallas and Austin. We're in a small town in a small county, and I'm a homeschooling mom with 5 kids including one graduate and 4 students.
- What kinds of books do you like to read?
I read mostly Christian non-fiction and YA and children's classics to the kids. I intend to read some classics this year, plus some extra fiction and non-fiction along the way. My favorite fiction genres include fantasy, mystery, and thriller/suspense (but not horror). Besides reading, I'm a writer and blogger, a crafter (crochet and scrapbooking, for starters), a #fibrowarrior and trying to lead a healthier life.
- How did you find our group?
Oh goodness, it's been years. I don't know. I probably searched for challenge groups. I don't even remember how long I've been in this group but it's been a while now. I'm here off and on....
- What's your reading goal?
My main goal is 52 books, a book a week for the year. I've had that goal for over 10 years and never reached it yet. I'm just too busy! But my youngest children are 9 years old now, so maybe I'll get some good reading in this year. I have a lot of mini-goals this year to help me along the way.
Nice to meet you and can't wait to get to know you all! Feel free to friend me, or DM me, and/or I'll see ya in the challenges!
Hello everyone,I'm from Germany and I joined Goodreads only a couple of days ago. I still have to figure out how everything works and I'm a bit overwhelmed by all the possibilities.
I love the the idea of an international reading community and I love the idea of the reading challenge. Also, the tbr jar is a wonderful idea, I'm already preparing mine.
My favourite genre is Fantasy, but I'm not limited to that. My all time top three are To kill a Mockingbird, Of Bees and Mist, Persuasion, the works of Tolkien and the Harry Potter Series. Yes, that are three, kind of :-D
I'm looking forward to an exciting reading year with all of you with lots and loads new adds to my evergrowing and not in a lifetime manageable want to read list.!
My name is Beth and I live in NewJersey. My goal for 2020 is 36 books. I belong to two book clubs which accounts for 24 books a year, butI would like tp add in a third book each month. My favorite genres are historical fiction and Memoirs/Biographies.
I am looking forward to reading with all of you in 2020.
My name is Cassie I am from Utah. I love books and I admit I read a lot. I am a mental health therapist and many of the books are in my field. I also enjoy fantasy, thrillers, horror but I am usually up for something new to read. I typically avoid romance just don't like most of it and as a therapist I have a tendency to analyse the relationship and why it would never work. I found this group while looking for a group to join just thought it looked interesting and am hoping it is a place I can talk about books. I have been in a bit of a reading slump for a while and so now I am exploring different kinds of books just to see what I might life. In 2020 I hope to read at least 52 books one a week if I'm lucky and if my life allows.
My name is Sunny. I'm currently living in Arkansas but hoping to move back to California in the near future. I read avidly and will read most anything. My favorite genres are science fiction and psychological thrillers. I found this group when I was looking for reading list recommendations for the upcoming new year. I don't think I will meet my 2019 goal of 100 books officially but since Goodreads counts box sets as a single book I am closer than it thinks. My reading goal for 2020 will likely by 100 books again.
Hi! my name is Catarina, but please call me Kat. i'm 15 and i'm from Portugal. my favourite genres are Fantasy, Sci-Fi and Thriller.I've joined this roup because I want to read more and meet people who enjoy reading.i don't speak a lot of English, so,if I make any mistakes, make sure to let me know!
Welcome to the group, everyone! It is great to see so many people joining our group at the moment. Good luck with your reading challenges!
Hi. My name is Fran, I'm a homeschooling mom of 4 living on the East Coast in the U.S. I love reading, as do all my kids, always willing to try something new and challenge myself and learn. So excited to have found this group, though as I'm finishing up other challenges for the year I won't get started here until January.
Hola, my name is Francis and i am from San José, Costa Rica, Central America. I am a vegetarian and photographer.I am planning, for this 2020, concentrate on Budism and Vegetarian Cooking, but always love Mistery, Fantasy and Sci fiction.

Hello, my name is Elisabeth, I am from Italy but I live in Germany. I love reading all kind of books especially thrillers, classic and mystery. I am glad to have joined this group and I am trying to challenge myself in order to read more books but sometimes it seems that time is never enough! My goal for 2020 is to read 24 books.
Hello! I made a joke recently about my "reading eyes" being larger than my "reading stomach" because I put too many books on my reading plate in 2019 haha! For 2020, I'm dropping my goal a tad bit, and am hoping to read 20 or so novels. Here's to 2020!
I am leonard from Kenya. I am very passionate in reading. I read different genres from biographies , self motivation, spiritual etcMy plan is to read 12 books in 2020
Hello everyone! I’m Zahraa, 23 year old from Iraq. I read all genres but I mainly enjoy Russian and Japanese literature. I saw this group as I was searching in groups that some book-tubers are part of. And I was interested in this group in particular because I saw a wide variety of genres and challenges and that’s what I’m looking forward to participate in 2020. My reading goal is to read a 100 book in 2020, from all genres, read one big book (over 500 pages) each year, and read classics from all over the world, with a minimum of a one classic per month. Looking forward to see what the group will do in the upcoming year.
Hi everyone, I’m Kylie. I’m from New South Wales, Australia. I set myself a total of 15 books for this year and will have read 18 by December 31. For 2020 I have decided to set 30 books for my reading challenge.I enjoy reading classic and contemporary books.
hello everyone i joined this group because i haven't been reading as much as i used to and i want to change that
Hello everyone, I’m Felicia I just wanted to say I’m excited to be apart of this group, because as it stands right now I have set my 2020 reading goal of 48 books in total. Which is really going to be a challenge considering I’m in what I hope to be my last semester in college so I will definitely need help staying on my target goal of 48 books.
Hi!!I am Meenal. I live in bangalore. I am new on good reads and learning how to use it. I am new in reading books also. I like non-fiction, humour, chick-lit, thriller books. Kindly suggest some. I am thinking of making my target as 20 books for 2020. :) :)
Hey everyone I’m Felicia thanks for letting me join y’all guys group my 2020 reading goal is 48 books in total now this will be quite the undertaking considering I’m in college. So I’m going to need help to stay focused on my goal and hopefully I have found people who can help me do that.
Hi. I'm Romaine and I've actually been a part of this group for a short while but have only just got around to introducing myself. I'm 25, live in London, and have recently reconnected with a long-held passion for books. As is often the case with book-lovers, words have always provided an escape from reality for me, a refuge when things aren't going quite to plan. So low and behold, just as events took a dip, my passion has recently resurfaced, bringing me back to the familiar comfort of pages in my palms.
In 2019 I read 21 books from April to December. In 2020, i hope to best that by reading 45 books, whilst taking on some buddy challenges alongside the other passionate readers here. I can't wait! I'm interested in philosophical fiction and nonfiction, fantasy, romance, Japanese history, and self-help.
Hi, everyone. I'm Aniket, from Mumbai, India, but I've been in Delft in the Netherlands for a little longer than a year.Unfortunately, casual reading went down my priority list last year (owing to my university) and I managed to scrape through with just ten books in 2019, exactly half my target.
However, I intend to pull up and read about 25 in 2020, and I do believe it's a realistic enough reading goal! It'll take some scheduling of time slots for habit formation, but it shouldn't be too difficult (or so I hope.)
There's no specific genre that I stick to, but I'm particularly fascinated by nonlinear storylines and writing that breaks the fourth wall. Also, anything with philosophical underpinnings (say, something like Sophie's World and GEB:EGB) gets me stuck like a fridge magnet.
Glad to be part of this group!
Hi Everyone, I'm Chuck from Chicago. I have looked for an energized, engaged Goodreads group to give me ideas, motivation, and some discipline to make my reading more diverse and fun. I found this group in the listings and to try it out for 2020.I'm probably most attracted to literary fiction, but I try to mix it up with a healthy dose of non-fiction, plus historical fiction, SFF, forgotten classics, etc.
My goal for 2019 was 50 books but I fell far short at 26 - so I'm keeping the goal of 50 for 2020.
Looking forward to learning how this group works and reading a record number of books this year.
Hi everyone, I'm Elisa, I'm 22 and I'm from France.I haven't really read much this year, around 15 books but I want to getback into readig so my goal for 2020 would be around 50 books.
I'd say my favorite genre is definitely fantasy but I would like to try reading more mystery/thrillers, horror and maybe literary fiction.
Glad to bepart of this group!
Hi!My name is Jordan. I am from the US. I read a lot of YA, but I am trying to get into classics. I just finished Pride and Prejudice and absolutely loved it! When I started looking for groups this was one of the first ones that popped up. I am trying to reach 40 books this year with as little rereading as possible.
Hi Jordan, My name is Chandler and I am new to this group I also love YA books but I am trying to get into more genres. My goal is 100 books by the end of 2020.
Hi readers!I'm Femke and even though I live below sea level I'm not a mermaid, but a citizen of the Netherlands ;).
In the past few years I've read not as much as I was used to. However, a few months back I became a member of my local library with an amazing selection of English books and now I am back in the reading game!
My reading interests mostly lie within the fictional region (ea fantasy, cultural orientated, thriller) but I also read non fiction books like nature memoirs (mainly hiking and birds, but I would love to find books about my other passion; kayaking) and books about biology or medicine as I study Bio-Pharmaceutical Sciences.
If you happen to have the same interests and/or have good recommendations, please do not hesitate to send me a message :)
Welcome everyone! This is a great time to join our group :)It might be a bit overwhelming with all the activities that we have going on, but please join anything that you like and don't hesitate to ask any questions you may have!
Hi,I'm Grace and I'm from the UK. I've lurked in this group for a while but this is the first year I've decided to participate. I have a slight adiction to buying kindle ebooks so this year a large part if my challenge is to make a (small!) dent in my TBR pile.
Hello everyone, I am Rainer and I am a German who has lived in Sweden for almost 25 years now. I have read thrillers and crime for many years, but decided 2018 to start reading other stuff too, again. And 2019 I set my first reading challenge here first to a moderate 26 books, but since I reached this number late last summer, I changed it to 35 and now I hope to finish book #40, Valeria Luiselli's "Lost Children Archive" before we enter a new year. I still think about a reading challenge for 2020, it must be slightly higher.
I have to admit that I have listened to some of my books this year, but I guess that counts.
