aloha, this is IsaacThis is my first year doing a book challenge and the only group I've joined on goodreads. So lets start off with. I am a Nerdy Soldier. If you haven't guessed already by that. I am a 39 year old nerd that's been in the army going on 21 years. My wife loves to read, and so does my 9yr old son, who is also named Isaac. I am born and raised on the island of Oahu in Hawaii. I love all things nerdy and guy. Love computers, video games, comics, d and d, cars, comic cons, cosplay, anime, manga. So no surprise that my favorite books all fall around that type. Fantasy, sci-fi, love storys of hero's growing into the adventures meeting people, making friends, they could orcs, vampires, dragons and the like. So if you notice any books that I post that I am reading tend to fall into that category. I look forward to reading it up and seeing some of the books that others read. aloha.

Hi Kenza welcome! So happy to have you join us, I don't know if we can help you get organized but we have a way of helping you grow your reading list. There are lots of reading challenges to do. 30 books will come easy when you read with friends,

Aloha Isaac! I hope this group helps you find a book to love. Thank you for your service and welcome to the group. I hope you find a challenge to love and happy reading.
Hi everyone, My name is Savannah and I’m a recent college graduate from the US. I’m strongly considering becoming a librarian. I was a voracious reader as a kid and rekindled my love of reading in college. Good thing too because I studied history and my degree required constant reading and writing! I’ve lived in Germany and England and I’m interested in European history, politics, and global migration patterns. Historical fiction, Christian literature, and well-written and elegant prose of any kind are my favorite genres. My faith is everything to me and the Bible is my favorite book! I joined a book club last year and did an awesome 2018 reading challenge with them. Just got into Goodreads somewhat belatedly and wanted to get into an additional reading challenge here! Last year I did a book a month and I’m hoping to start doing 2 books a month. I’d like to tackle a few classics I never got around to reading but mostly just read things I love.
Hi guys...!!Am bwaey from Tanzania🇹🇿 ... i joined the group yesterday but one and i feel blessed finding this group for it will push me through my goals as am looking forward to accomplish some tittles... Actually am interested in Psychology, business and Philosophy-oriented books
Hi Savanna welcome to our group and to Goodreads. There are almost 20,000 members to this group so between new friends new challenges and fun you will have no trouble reading two books a month. I hope to see you find a book or a challenge you love. Welcome and happy reading.
bwaey welcome so happy to have you! I suggest looking around and seeing what is posted and finding a book or activity you love here. If you have questions let us know.

Hello, please call me Nyx. I am from Indonesia and I mostly read fantasy novels and classics. I found this group just by looking in the groups section and I felt like I want to join some kind of community. I’m new to goodreads (I’ve only installed it a few weeks ago) and I’m hoping to be able to read 50 books by the end of this year. Thank you.
Welcome all new members! I'm far behind in the "meet and greet" and I apologize for that. It's fun to keep track of your reading progress and you get a lot of support along the way. So, Welcome Again!
Hey everyone, I am CC, I live in Germany and I am 38 years old. I am trying to read 100 books this year and I mostly enjoy Fantasy, Science Fiction, with a healthy dose of contemporary. I read mainly YA but I have my phases where I just read Adult too. I have a demanding job that I love but that sometimes keeps me from reading - usually when I am in a slump, its caused by working long hours and not getting the time to read.
Hi, I am Shakti from India. I like Fiction as well as Non-Fiction. I started my year with a target of reading 52 books a year. So far I have read about 67.Now my target is to maintain reading average of 100 pages per day till end of this year. I am currently focusing on Classic Literature and need to read a lot.
Hi All - My name is Andrea, and I'm from US. I have always been an avid reader who can't get enough of really good books. I have been in a reading slump lately and currently have about 45 books (or more :)) on my tbr shelf. Looking forward to being in the group and getting back into reading as much as I've always loved to!
Hi all, I'm Tricia from UK, West Yorkshire. I've been in a bit of a reading slump but recently started reading more actively again and determined to spend less time on my phone and more time reading. So I joined this group as a bit of motivation and because I love reading other's people's reviews and opinions of books of books I've read or reading. Also to find more books to read, although I currently have over 150 on want to read list on kindle so won't be running out anytime soon! ha!
Welcome to the group, everyone! We are so happy to meet you :)Please have a look around and feel free to join any activities that seem fun to you or ask any question you may have.
Happy Reading!
Hello everyone 😊 my name is Kindra and I live in Charlotte NC, in the United States of America. I have been a book lover all my life. I love fiction, historical fiction, fantasy, and especially romance. I look forward to getting to know you all. I cannot wait to make a buddy. I am late in the game but I plan to read 30 more books this year.
Hey, my name's Bee and I'm new to this group~I like a lot of different genres but I suppose fantasy is my favourite. I like books with intricate worlds/plots/characters. I also read a lot of contemporary with psychological themes because of this. I try to read books that are diverse and inclusive. I also enjoy poetry but I am quite picky when it comes to that, haha~
I believe I found this app through a video on BookTube. I was never really much of a reader when I was younger, but I really wanted to give it a try and pick up a new hobby so I started trying to become more involved and then I made an account to keep progress of my reading! This app also helps motivate me when I'm in reading slumps or feeling down about my progress.
Currently my goal for 2019 is 10 books. I'm a very slow reader and I have a lot going on in my life so it can be hard to keep up with everyone else. But, I'd like to slowly increase my goals as I become more confident with my reading pace in general. Overall, I just want to read books that I enjoy at my own pace.
Hi everyone,I'm Jonathan from Augsburg, Germany and recently noticed that my reading activity dropped pretty low, as I only read like 4-5 books in 2018. As I really anjoy reading, I set myself a personal goal of reading at least 1 book a month now, and discovered goodreads as a great way to keep track of that.
As for what kind of books I enjoy: I really tend to like a mix of everything with a tendency towards fantasy.
I hope to have a fun time in this group.
I'm John. I'm from Eastern Canada, moonlighting as a novelist, but work as a security guard to pay the bills. The shifts are long, and I'm alone much of the time, but that has given me oodles of opportunity to catch up on my reading!Goodreads has been an invaluable resource for my reading, through introducing me to new titles, giving me a place to post reviews, giving me a "digital bookmark" for my reading, and of course, the annual Reading Challenge.
I've been with the RC group here since the start of the year, and even tried to start some of the titles they've recommended before, but the timing never worked out. Now, though, they're actually reading a book I can easily get a hold of and wanted to read anyway, so it's a matter of good timing at last!
Hey! I'm Lana and I'm from Israel. I just recently got back into reading, since it's something I'd like to incorporate more into my life again and I feel like I can learn so many invaluable things from it. I haven't read much for the past few years but I really hope I can change that. Since I'm a fairly inexperienced reader, I'm not sure about what my favourite genres are (though I do like science fiction, fantasy, nonfiction and a bit of romance, and I've been trying to read more classics), but I'm open to just about anything.
For the 5 months that are left of 2019, I hope to at least read 10 books and I think being in this group will greatly motivate me to do so.
I hope everyone here is able to reach their goals and have a productive rest of the year! :)
hey all i'm eric from usa i read almost anything i would like some gay themed stuff my reading challenge is 20 books this year
Hello everyone. I am Dale and live in Cheshire, England. Currently reading The Snakes by Sadie Jones. If anything beats this book this year it will do well to impress me! I have set a goal of 20 books to read and i have so far read 7 this year!
Hi Everyone welcome to the group! I always enjoy seeing the different faces that join our group! Looking at this thread always makes my day. I love seeing how many people with different hobbies find a love for books. I hope everyone finds a challenge, book , or new author to love during your time here.
Hi! I’m Charlotte and relatively new to the group. I joined this group to read more variety in my life. I’ve only ever really stuck to one genre which is young adult which are great but I want to broaden my horizon.I am based in Wiltshire in the UK and in terms of reading challenges I’m looking to read 6 books by December 2019 with this carrying on to the new year as well.
Looking forward to being part of this group !!
My name is Rebecca and currently live close to Los Angeles. I love to read and as a stay at home mom reading is how I stay sane. My goal is to read 200 books this year. Unfortunately I just joined at the beginning of August so I have to backtrack and see how many books I can remember that I have read since the beginning of the year. I normally find the books I read by wandering up and down the aisles of Barnes and Noble picking up anything that looks interesting. My other favorite way of finding books is going to one of my favorite sections in the library and just looking through the books in alphabetical order that way I can't miss anything that I would normally skip over. I love to read cozy mysteries and fantasy.
Charlotte welcome to the group! I think with the way our challenges you will be able to get some variety. There is so much to do here so join whatever looks like fun!

Please get comfortable with goodreads and let us know if you need anything
Hi everyone! I'm David and I'm a 26 year old social worker living in London, UK. I only recently started using Goodreads - I have no idea why it's taken me this long to join but better late than never I suppose!
I'm trying to keep up with reading more, as I find it difficult to focus sometimes, so hopefully joining will help me read more consistently. I have to say that there's so much going on in this group that it's a little overwhelming! But I'm sure I'll figure out how things work
My goal is to read 52 books this year, and I've got 24 down so far. I tend to enjoy reading sci-fi, pop-psych, dystopian fiction and fiction involving mental health.
Looking forward to reading more! :)
Hi Everyone!I'm Jay. I joined the group to get inspiration and be motivated to accomplish my goal of reading 12 books this year. I am a life-long learner. Being a surgeon, I like to be updated in clinical guidelines but as we all know there are a lot of knowledge out there waiting to be discovered. Especially in areas we know nothing about. Reading makes me stand on the shouders of giants..
Hello, I'm Chris and I'm from Maryland in the USA! I like to read fantasy, historical fiction (especially if it's with a twist- I love good alternate history), sci-fi, and nonfiction focused on international politics and languages. I haven't ever really done anything in the group side of Goodreads, so I figured I'd try it out and, upon searching for groups, you guys seemed like a fun and active one!My goal is 12 books, but I'm thinking about upping it.
Hello everyone! My name is Hidaya, and I’m from Casablanca,Morocco. I mostly read literary fiction, yet I try to discover other genres, and I’m confident this club is a great way to do just that. My goal is to read at least 35 books this year. 27 down, 8 to go!
Welcome Everyone! Jay I feel like reading your introduction makes me look at reading in a different way. I hope you find an author to love between all your learning! Chris you got it right we are active and fun! Look around let us know if you need anything. Hidaya YOU are on a roll so close. Look around and find a Buddy or a Challenge to help you reach your goal. I hope you all have a blast. Welcome and happy reading.
Hi!My name is Marjy. I am happy to be a part of this group! Trying to get my reading mojo on! Looking forward to reading and sharing about books.
Hi everyone. I am Jennifer and I like to read memoirs, fiction, nonfiction, biographies and mysteries best, but I will also read pretty much anything. If anyone has any good book suggestions please let me know :)
I'm from Rochester New York. I do a lot of reading for my work -- theology, religious studies, etc.; but someone recently asked what fiction I was reading and was stumped. I am hoping that being in this group will help me get back in to reading the way I used to. I'll make every effort to keep up to date. I'll start in September.I didn't realize that there were book groups on Goodreads, but a recent NYTimes series on being a better reader sent me in this direction.
Hi everyone, my name is Anita!I am from Austria. That's my first book-club I have joined, therefor I am really excited.
I am a teacher for German / Austrian literature on an academic high school. 6 years ago I started also teaching a class in "world literature", because literature in all its shades and colors is what my heart beats for. Thriller, Historical, Non Fiction ...
Reading is my passion since I was a little child, lately I felt a little bored, because "teaching" literature is not the same as "savouring" it. Well, a few weeks ago I decided to expand my horizons - with your help - and here I am. I have to confess actually I am more interested in sexy adult-books (Scifi, Fantasy) to stir my fantasy than in the classics. You know, to teach book-bored teenagers on a daily basis is good for my Karma, but not so much for my pleasure. In my leisure time I want the amazing-hot-out of the world-stuff!
My reading goal? Reading because I love to, not because I have to. Happy Reading!!!!
Marjy wrote: "Hi!My name is Marjy. I am happy to be a part of this group! Trying to get my reading mojo on! Looking forward to reading and sharing about books."
Marjy Welcome to the group so happy you decided to join our group to get your reading mojo back! There are so many friends here to be made and many books to discuss.

Hi Anita welcome! I love the fact you are a teacher. Also that you have no goal and are just looking to have fun. Please look around and join what looks fun. Happy Reading to you as well.
Hi guys I’m new here, my name is Emma. This is my first time on Goodreads. I’m kinda confused by everything but I guess I will figure it out in time. My reading goal this year and since it’s already August, is 50 books. I’m not sure if I could do it though! I like to read whatever interests me and that includes fantasy, horror, LGBTQ and science fiction etc. I usually tend to read fiction and this year I am gonna try and read non-fictions as well.

I am a 4th grade teacher in the USA in Utah. I have recently rediscovered my love of reading. The past few years I read mostly to my students, and very little just for me. That changed this past year as I tried Donnalyn Miller's 40 Book Challenge with my students. I think it worked better on me! I ended up reading about 50 books over the school year. This summer, I made a goal to read a book a day and managed to complete that as well. It helped me get to know many books in my classroom library that I hadn't read and I'm super excited to share them with my students. I want to keep up the momentum and share successes with likeminded readers. :)
