Yeeaah! I’m so honored to be the first Japanese member of this group.

Yes, it sure does! And you can much more soak in the world by the original language, which is to me English and to you Japanese. I hope you are enjoying Japanese books as much I am with English books. Cheers.

Not at all =) (aww a little devil emoticon lolz)

Well i am with manga because there's furigana. Novels... the amount of kanji in them makes me feel like i'm a lvl.1 up against an end of game boss. Far too difficult lol (or at least the ones i'm encountering)
But yeah, still enjoying them. Glad to know your enjoying English novels.

I'm currently reading 侵略!イカ娘 as part of my studies... Which totally counts X)

Clau | 3 comments Hi, everyone!
I joined this club a few months back but I have not had the time to come here and appropiatedly present myself until now. A couple things you need to know about me: I am from Spain, so English is not my first language even though I read mostly books in english since I was twenty. Also, I had a huge four years gap in which I did not read anything. At all. I went back to read last year and since then I read anything worth of picking my interest: sci-fi, fantasy, thriller, contemporary... Everything. Except romance. I mean, Romance ROMANCE. Nothing against it, just not my jam.
So, I hope to find friends here to share my not-so-specific tastes.

:)

Clau.

Welcome to the group Clau! It looks like you have lots of book interests which is great! How many books do you plan on reading? I hope you have looked around and join a challenge or two to help with your goal.

Luci Limón (lucilimon) | 245 comments Hey everyone!
My name's Luci and I'm from Spain. I just saw this group on my feed and sniffed around for a bit, it looks just like what I was looking for!! So I'm going to give it a go :)
I'm about to create my personal thread and start planning, I'd like to read at least 25 books. My go-to genre is fantasy, graphic novels, and YA and I LOVE to find buddies to read with. I can't wait to get started!!

message 759: by Filomena (new)

Filomena Mourinho | 4 comments Hi, I'm Filomena, and I am from Portugal. I love reading - novels and short stories, mainly - but I also like to read books about Positive Psychology and now I am venturing into other genres and topics.
I found this group via a Goodreads suggestion - is there a better way? :)
My reading goal for this year is, at least, a fiction and a non-fiction book every month, so I guess I can say 24 books in 2019. As I am a teacher, during school months it may be more difficult, but during breaks and in August I'll make up for it!
I am really glad I've joined the group. I am now going to as my local library to find me Bernardette and save it for me in May.

message 760: by Nikki (new)

Nikki (thecatsm3ow) | 14 comments Hi everyone,

I'm Nikki from California. One of my Goodreads friends is part of this group and I saw it pop up on my feed. I thought this would be a fun place to keep track of what I'm reading, along with my own personal spreadsheet.

I read both adult fiction and young adult novels, but my favorite genre is mystery/thriller. If I do branch out to other genres (fantasy, paranormal, historical fiction), they're mostly of the YA variety. I also occasionally read non-fiction.

I set my goal at 45 books and I am on pace to beat it before the year is up. Last year, I had the same goal and ended up reading 54 books.

message 761: by [deleted user] (new)

Hey everyone! I'm C.J., from Pittsburgh. :) I found this group through the "groups" tab - I was searching for something to join so I could make some new friends. (Feel free to add me - my homepage is depressingly slow!) I mainly like to read young adult books, and I'm hoping to read 30 books this year. I read 20 last year, so I think that it's a good thing to not aim too high. My interest in reading comes and goes, so I'm not always super active on Goodreads... But anyway yeah! Please add me lol!

message 762: by SarahG (new)

SarahG (sarahg626) | 143 comments Hi everyone. My name is Sarah. I am from Central Ohio area (farm country).

I just happened across this group today. Wish I had found it sooner as I love doing the annual reading challenge here on Goodreads.

I love to read AND listen to books. I live 45 miles away from work so I get a good 2 hours of listening each work day. I show reining horses and my trainer is 125 miles from home so I get another 5 hours of listening time each Saturday.

Most of what I "read" are mysteries and almost everything is part of some sort of series. My favorite audiobooks are usually memoirs read by the author (most recent by Michelle Obama). My favorite authors are: Rita Mae Brown, Miranda James, JR Ward, Karin Slaughter....just to name a few.

My Goodreads 2019 goal is 80 (and I am already at 41).

message 764: by Tylor (new)

Tylor (tylorschmidt) Hello everybody!! My name is Tylor and I reside in Papillion, Nebraska with my beautiful wife and 3 fur babies (2 cats and 1 dog).

I stumbled upon this group while I was bored and decided to search some groups. I like this one because I get to see what everyone else is reading but at the same time let everyone know what I've read. I like to read mainly fantasy books (dragons, drow, wizards, etc) but have been know to span out and read crime, drama, adventure, etc.

As I don't seem to have a lot of time to read, I gave myself an easy challenge of one book of month for 2019. So far I've read 6 books so I'm already 2 months ahead.

I am excited to see what this group is all about and to keep everyone posted on where I am for my reading challenge!!

Brielle D.M. (brielledm) Hi, I'm Brielle. Some of my favorite books are Divergent, Caraval, and the new series I'm working on, Red Queen. But my all time favorite book is Zodiac. I've already read 10 books this year and my goal to read 50 by the end of the year.

Some of my favorite genres to read are fantasy, sci-fi, and dystopian. Aside from reading my real passion is programming, but I take on writing as a hobby.

I'm excited to be apart of this group!

Hey there Blagica! First of all I'd like to thank you for letting me be able to share this amazing journey with you all. I'm currently reading "Where the Crawdads Sing" By Delia Owens, and "Crown of feathers" By Nicki Pau Preto. Two amazing books I cannot stop reading! Although at the same time it makes me quite sad, since I'm almost finished reading "Where the Crawdads Sing" and I can't seem to get enough of this book.
Oh! I'm also determined to read lots of other books my fellow friends recommended me, one of them being "On Earth We're Briefly Gorgeous" By Ocean Voung. One of the most anticipated books this 2019. It's supposed to release this June!

What about you Blagica, which book/s are you currently reading?

message 776: by SarahG (new)

SarahG (sarahg626) | 143 comments I am 41 and can honestly say I wasn’t into reading until I discovered Audible in 2014. Looking back over my reading stats on Goodreads, this is what I see. Books read: 2014 (11), 2015 (17), 2016 (47), 2017 (54), 2018 (93), and 2019 (43 so far).

I started actually reading books (hard copy or ebooks) in 2016. I have gone back to using the library more. I even find myself discussing books with a few of the girls at work. I’m more excited about new books coming out versus new movies.

Mayke ☕️ (rainynightsandfairylights) | 5 comments Hey everyone, my name's Mayke, 24 years old.
I'm from the Netherlands and love goodreads to find people from all over the world who love reading as well.

My goal started with 75 books, same as in 2018. I decided to lower my goal to 50 books, because I've been feeling quite stressed about all this pressure from all around me. Reading needs to be fun, although I like to read as much as I can.

I'm already behind with 10 books, because I've been in a terrible reading slump since the beginning of the year. I'm finally getting over it and have been reading a lot more now. Hoping to read a lot of good books this year.

Excited to stick around an see how well everyone's doing!

message 788: by Kirill (last edited May 06, 2019 09:48AM) (new)

Kirill (ophelion) Hi everyone! Let's closely follow the "if you don't know where to start" instruction, yay!
My name is Kirill, I am from Russian Federation (go go international relations!)
Seems like this group is quite on the rise, and I have just discovered Goodreads, so Kudos to myself for getting here by a complete accident :)
I've spent an entire yesterday evening trying to systematize my experience, and it proved to be quite a task. As it turns out, I didn't have as many titles as I would've hoped (I keep adding books as I remember them though, so...). What I, however, can tell, is that it is impossible to say what kind of books I like reading, for I have quite a mix of authors, countries and genres behind me, and it is wonderful!
As I've had a hellish semester with close to zero time to read, I am trying to catch up on the year, so my current goal for 2019 is probably a nice round number of a 100 (looking back at 2019 so far, it seems like a "Let's Turn Pages" challenge would be more appropriate, though :D)
Anyway, nice to meet you, everyone, it is great to finally have somewhere to track books and possibly discuss things, and I hope to make some wonderful connections along the way.
Cheers!

message 789: by Kerri (new)

Kerri (kerrimcbooknerd) Hello all! My name is Kerri and I currently reside in New Mexico, but I'll be moving to Massachusetts this summer for a new job! Exciting and daunting all at the same time, much like my reading challenge, haha.

For my reading challenge this year, I decided to try and read all 50 prompts on the Popsugar Reading Challenge. I was in a severe reading slump last year and I figured a challenge would be a good way to pull myself out of it! I found this group after seeing a Goodreads friend posting to her own challenge (*waves to Samantha*) and it seemed like a good place to keep track.

As for the types of books I like, I'm a huge fan of fantasy and sci-fi. I've decided, though, to stretch my genre wings and try things outside of my comfort zone, so I'll honestly read just about anything. I'm still not a big fan of romance and westerns, but perhaps I just haven't read the right book yet!

Anyways, happy to be here!

I happened across this group because I was updating my groups and saw this one in my feed. My goal for this year is 50 books. So far, I’ve read 20, and I’m working on my 21st (A Man Called Ove). I’m really excited about this group and being connected to fellow readers!

Casie Walters (cassandratw) Hi everyone! My name is Casie and I'm from the U.S.- currently Minnesota but moving to Omaha this summer.

I'm really not picky with book genres but my favorites are thrillers/suspense, sci-fi, fantasy, and historical fiction. I found the group when I was trying to find a fun reading challenge to do. My goal was to read 25 books this year, however I've reached 16 somehow so I plan to up it to 40. I chose 40 so I can do the PopSugar Reading Challenge as well.

I like new friends and love to see what other people are reading. Feel free to add me if you want! Happy reading!

message 793: by Eve (new)

Eve (mrsevie2) Hello all! I am Eve! I live in north Atlanta area and love to read. My favorite genre is historical romance but will try any kind of book! My reading challenge is 50 books this year, and I have already read 16! Do audio books count? I usually have an audio book going and a physical one too! Sometimes, like now, I am reading an ebook too! I wanted to join so that I can see what others are reading!

Happy READING!

message 794: by [deleted user] (new)

Hi! I'm Izzy. Currently, I read a lot of YA. YA dystopia, YA sci-fi, YA contemporary, YA romance, you name it I've probably have read it at some point in my life. I do sprinkle in some Adult novels and also graphic novels in my reading as well.

I found this group by looking for a group that might challenge me in reading more and maybe helping me broaden the genres I read. Also, it genuinely interested me.

My goal is to read at least 50 books this year (not gonna lie I might read more).

I'm excited for a bookish year!

I'm excited to have a goal of reading 1 book a month this year and to have found this group for continued support. Cheers!

Mahzabin Haque | 1 comments Hi there! I'm Maz. All I read is fiction. I barely read anything other than fictions. I was in search of finding motivation for myself to read more and more and more books and I bumped into this group. And yeah! When I say read, I actually meant to listen. I listen to audiobooks all the time. What are you all up to? Any other fiction lover in here?

message 798: by Swati (new)

Swati (swati91) Hi everyone.. I am Swati. I always wanted to read but somehow could not make it. I managed to read 1 book this year and I want to read more. I thought if I had someone reading along with me, may be that could help. So I joined this group to make some new friends with whom I can read. I want to read 10 books this year. My interest in reading is growing so I hope I can reach the goal. I do not have liking for any specific genre yet as I am still new to this but reading suggestions are welcomed. This year I have read Big Magic: Creative Living Beyond Fear by Elizabeth Gilbert and currently reading Becoming by Michelle Obama.

message 799: by Janet (new)

Janet Creasy (jmcreasy75) Hello, book-loving friends! I'm excited to be a part of your group. I live in rural Arkansas and have 3 boys and a fantastic husband. I have always been a fast, avid reader. However, after a debilitating wreck on 2015 and a PTSD diagnosis because of it...reading has been harder to focus on. I want my love for written words to bloom once again and hope joining the 2019 challenge brings my joy of reading back! If course, being a mom to littles does make time management a bit tougher. Feel free to connect with me here or in other social media platforms. Just drop a note that you are from this group so I know to accept any requests (for outside of Goodreads.)

message 800: by Stephanie (new)

Stephanie (thelittlebookishnerd) | 302 comments Hi everyone! I'm Steph and found this group through a discussion on the PopSugar group. I try to read more every year. I love challenges to help me explore different genres and find new authors. They also help me stay away from the TV. I may not focus on a challenge here this year, but will try next year. I set a GR goal of 25 books this year. I've already met my goal so now I'm trying for 50.
