Welcome wishing you the best of luck with school and your reading!
Hello fellow readers! I live in London and Boston. Being an academic I have a great job that pays me to read stuff, although most of my reading is going through research papers. My reading list on Goodreads does reflect my professional interests as there are many books on political economy and social commentary. My other reading interests are history, particularly US history, religion and some good fiction thrown in a for a good measure.
Hi Everyone ,I'm Raghav and I'm from India.
I've just joined this group. I developed a habbit of reading at an early age. I really like reading and spend most of my free time reading books.
I don't have preferences about genre. I read every genre of books.
My goal of this year is to read 40 books. I already read 18 books. I hope i will read more than 40.
Hi My name is Kim, and I have loved to read since I was big enough to hold a book. I'm from the U.S. and I have recently added reviewing books after I finish them. I set my goal before I realized I couldn't edit it, so I really need to get a move on for April! I love going to the library, used bookstores, any kind of stores with books will be fine. I'm excited to be in this group that likes to read and encourages each other!
Hi! My name is Lea, am 40 and from the South in the US. I inherited my love of reading from my Grandmother, aka Granny, we are the only two in my family that love books. I read on average 3 to 5 books a week and joined this group to look for new authors and to be among those that love reading as much as I do.I like to read any fiction but I am drawn more to Sci-fi and Paranormal. I read all the time so I guess my goal will be to explore new authors. I'm open for suggestions.
Hey everyone! My name is Valentina but everyone calls me Vale. I'm from Santiago, Chile and decided to join this group so to motivate myself to read a little more. It just came out as an option to join when I was browsing through Goodreads, so I thought, why not?
I read mostly fiction, any kind really except when it's TOO religious. I have been reading a lot of chick flicks lately since I'm finishing my thesis at school and wanted something lighter to use my free time. I'll try to pick different things though, so as to have more variety.
I set myself a goal of 12 books for this year, but have YET to start, so maybe this will help :)
Anything else you need to know? Feel free to ask, I'm an open book! XD
Hello to My New Group!I look forward to reading some great books in 2019!
Regards,
Kurt Bryan

FATE CAME CALLING
Hi Everyone, my name is Carolyn. I would love to read 40 books a year this year! :) I prefer mystery/thrillers but also love fiction and some historical fiction.
Hi! I am generally very privacy-conscious online, so you can call me LB. I am a 40-something year old suburban mom of 3 little ones. I was a Lit / Creative Writing major in college, but over the last 20 or so years have gradually gone from being a voracious reader to barely reading anything longer than an article, with the exception of the many nonfiction parenting-related books that line my bookshelves. The advent of social media (which I have mostly now removed myself from), the ubiquity of screens and my limited time as a mom have all contributed to my reading habits dwindling.
I am determined to fall in love with fiction again, as it sustained me through so much of my life and taught me so much about the world. I am also looking for a healthy way to relax. Plus I want to set an example for my kids and raise avid readers.
I'd like to read all the great contemporary novels, and also want to catch up on any classics that I have missed along the way. Something I'd like to get more into is historical fiction and history books.
My ultimate goal is to be reading a book a week, about an hour a day. For now I will try for a book every 2 weeks and maybe 20 minutes a day.
Nice to meet you all!

Hi Everyone, my name is Shivangi. I joined this group yesterday and I am from Mumbai, India. I used to be a voracious reader up until my college days and then fell off the wagon as I started working, My reading was constricted to news and other corporate content. Slowly I started catching up on my reading during travels.
I recently finished A man called Ove which not only gave me the much needed life inspiration but also renewed my love for books. I am more of a fiction enthusiast but never the one to shy away from non-fiction, provided it is an engaging read.
My goal is to finish 25 books this year and so far I am done with 3. Picking up the pace as I pen this down.
Hey my name is Ally, I am from New Zealand. I'm looking to try broaden my range of genres I read this year, so I am open to lots of suggestions. Most of my reading is done via Scribd (audio) as I have a new baby :)
Hello everyone! My name is Kylle, and I live in New Orleans, LA. Reading has always been one of my favorite things, and so I was really sad when I found myself reading less and less. As a high school teacher, I think it is imperative that I set an example to students about reading and finding pleasure in the written word. I started the personal challenge at 50, but have been revisiting many books I read years ago (easy reads that I'm breezing through). I upped the number, and might do so again if I continue finding myself doing so well... I joined this group because I feel like it is time for me to find ways to be more accountable for my reading. I joined a book club late last year, and I've been working on reading more, so hopefully having challenges and conversations will help me even more.
I love reading fantasy books (think Mercedes Lackey, Tamara Pierce, and Juliet Marillier), murder mysteries (Kathy Reichs), and general fiction, especially if the imagery is beautiful. I don't generally go for surrealism or books that have only unlikeable characters.
Welcome, Kylie! If you haven't read The Goldfinch, the imagery is amazing. I just read it as a buddy read, and it's now on my list of favourite books. Highly recommended.
Hello everyone, my name is Gaye, I am in Australia. I love to read anything and everything. However, if I had to name favourites, I would have to say first psychological thrillers; second crime, mystery and suspense; next would be historical fiction and biographies. I joined Goodreads by being curious about the 'community' tab on my kindle and subsequently found the group. I have set my reading challenge to 50 books for 2019.
Welcome to you all! I love seeing how reading brings so many people from so many part of the world by reading. I hope you all have a blast here with us. Look around and join us in the fun.

And I've been reading several Thrillers, but I liked none of them, so I think, it's just not my genre. But still, there are plenty of good books to explore and I'm happy to share it with you guys.
Hi everyone! I’m Hitomi. I live in Japan. ( Maybe the first Japanese person who joined this group?) I used to be a bookworm when I was a kid, but after entering a middle school, there were bunch of things that I managed to juggle and couldn’t keep up reading anymore. At the age of 24, I’ve started learning English. Yes, that’s where my reading journey resumed! The main reason of having started reading English books is expanding my vocabulary as I mentioned on my profile, but also I found myself enjoying the books. The pleasure and excitement that I’d feel was there, having them on hand. What’s more, there sure is a delight and enjoyment that I can taste in original books rather than translated books.
Lastly, my goal of 2019 is to read more than 12 books! Also in hope I’ll be an e-reader this year to read more and in an aggressive way that taking notes, making a summary, and deepening my thoughts with my kindle :)
@Kylle Hi...we have a lot in common. I’m also a high school teacher who loves to read. However, because I was not reading a lot for fun, I decided to start reading more. I even started my own blog, and my students encouraged me to start a bookstagram. Welcome to the group.
Hey Hitomi. I think your right, I've not come across another Japanese person in this group before. And translating from the original language is tough but ultimately better, as it gives you (for the most part) a different experience. I attempt the same with some Japanese books.
Hope you find some great books here. Oh and welcome =)
