Hello :) My name is Jeannine and I have always loved to read. I have been slacking off and thought joining a group would help me to read more. My favorite genre is fiction.
Hi everyone! I am Deni and I'm from Romania. I love all kinds of books (mostly YA fantasy, scifi and romance books). My goal is 50 books this year. I usually pick a lot of books and I have a lot of them unread so I'm trying to reduce them.
I hope everyone finds a lovely book to read! Happy reading!
Hello my name is Ayesha and I have just joined the group. I am from Pakistan. As a teenager I love reading books and my fav series is THE HUNGER GAMES!

Hi Deni welcome to the group! I hope you had a good month in reading. I think 50 books could get you lots of gems this year. I hope you join a group read or a buddy read with us. We are happy to have you.
Hi all,Maria here! I joined Goodreads a while ago and have visited it when adding books to the TBR list - which is growing! I am hoping to start making my way through the list!
Looking forward to interacting with you all.
Hi, I curious as to why I had a personal challenge of 200 books, but my Home page it says 12? How would I fix this so it shows the 200 books? Thanks
Hello everyone sorry for the late intro . But I'm Lacy from Connecticut. I'm here because I'm hoping to be a future librarian so I'm really trying to up my reading game. Typically I read non fiction(History, memoirs, biographies those types of things) but I joined goodreads and this group to expand my reading horizon. I look forward to seeing you all accomplish your reading goals and I hope I can accomplish mine.
Hi everyone! I’m Abbie I’m a college student so I won’t be super active because I don’t have a lot of time to read what ever I want but I’m still workin on that TBR pile. My favorite series will always be Harry Potter but I’m currently reading the 100.
Hi! I am Alicia. I am 26 years old and currently live outside of Cleveland, Ohio. I read a LOT of YA contemporaries. I am trying to branch out. My reading goals in general is to read all of the books I have yet to read that I own and to read the books on my “want to read” shelf that have been there for over three years! I would like to read 25 books by the year end, but am hoping for more. I joined the group because I wanted to challenge myself to read more! I’m slowly but surely getting there.
Hi Everyone, I'm NishantI am from India but currently I work in Netherlands. I usually dont have a preference for any genre I simply start reading if the title seems catchy and continue to complete the book if its interesting otherwise I change the book.
I joined the group to be more involved in books as in the past 6-8 months I have been losing the interest.
I want to read as many books as I can in a year, dont have an exact number in mind. Lets see where it takes me :)
Hi everyone! I'm Priya from India. I love fantasy and have recently started exploring other genres, I'm especially liking historical fiction and thriller. I'm an extremely slow reader so I usually set my reading goals on the low end. I'm hoping to finish at least 50 books this year.
Hello everyone 👋🏻My name is layan i have a page on instagram called minty’s books (if you like you could check it out lol) im kinda new to bookstagram and im loving it till now but i have a bit of a problem and that is i cant reach people. I love YA books and i read everyday mostly before i go to sleep. I prefer books over movies but lately ive been watching like 3 tv series and i cant get enough. Ive been a slob reader lately and idk maybe because im on vacation so when i get back to school i hope i get back to normal lol. I read like 50 books (i think?) see my profile lol
And yup thats all I’d love to meet new people so you’re welcome to send me anytime and anything here or on my instagram (mintysbooks) even if it was just a hi lol
This is my first year doing a reading challenge from my library. Which then lead me to Goodreads and now here. I like mystery murder, Christian fiction. This year I planned on reading 40 for a start. I live in Kansas City, MO. I'm excited to be here.
Hi I’m Rachel. I live in Boise, Idaho. I used to be an avid reader...trying to get back into the hobby. I like to read paranormal, YA, fantasy, sci-fi, thriller/horror, romance, historical fiction, manga and graphic novels and even some non-fiction too. I pretty much will read anything that sounds good to me! I also love audiobooks! This year my goal is to read at least 20 books (hopefully more!) I have always wanted to join a book club but never wanted to feel restricted on what to read so I’m hoping this group will keep me motivated and will help me avoid reading slumps!
Ok!!!!!! Hi there y'all, i'm Dan from Oz, unfortunately, not the great and wonderful. Last year trawling through booktubing ppl really sparked my love for reading Fantasy, and henceforth I ended up on goodreads, and henceforth - here. I love fantasy, like more than oxygen and beer combined. Whoah. Also - the day James Masters began putting down audiobooks for the Dresden files should go down in history as the greatest day in the fkn history of mankind. And Nevernight changed my life last year so if you haven't read it... seriously GET ON IT. I'm hooked on YA at the moment, it's like a drug. I also, strangely enough, love anything Ludlum. Peace :-)
Well, my name is Elena and I'm 15 years old. I live in Greece and unfortunately, I can rarely find books that I am supposed to be reading in book clubs, but I still try anyway. I would like to read 15 books in 2019!
Hi I’m Laura, new to this group! I’m looking forward to hopefully getting involved in some challenges and group reads, but am mainly hoping to talk with some new people!
I’m relatively new to goodreads, I only properly started using this site last year to encourage myself to read more (I used to love reading and in recent years stopped reading as often, but I’m glad to say I’m definitely back in the swing of it).
My goal this year is 40 books and I usually read: contemporary, crime/mystery/thriller, with the odd fantasy and historical fiction thrown in.
I’d love to get to know some people on here so feel free to message/add!!
(I’m bad at this and am a big rambler hahah)
Edit - also if anyone could help me with the formatting and actual taking part in this group I would very much appreciate!
Hello everyone! I'm Molly :DI discovered this group while poking around the search areas for challenges. I've been seeing a number pop up on my 2019 challenges telling me I'm 5 books behind on my goal! I decided I needed a group to help me keep up.
I'm from the USA and I love to read. I'll read anything that peaks my interest.
I may have bitten off more than I can chew but I'm aiming for 100 books this year.
Hi everyone! My name is Leigh I am from Canada. I like to try all kinds of books but will unfortunately give up quickly if it doesn't grasp my attention. Some of my favourite genres are thrillers, suspense. I have found my love of books again after years of simply not reading them and my goal is to just read 1 book a month. Can't wait to get to know everyone! :)
Hey All!My name is Bhumi Shah and I am from India. My favorite genre is fiction which can include Romance, YA and Suspense. This is my first time that I have taken this reading challenge. As of now, it's one book per month that I have taken for reading challenge 2019, but I guess I can do more than that. Stories make me live another world in itself and I want to go for as more as possible. Looking forward to know you all..
Hey guys!Myself Lavanya Nadar, born and brought up in India. So, I'm not a big fan of real life cause it's boring as hell and way more dramatic. But things seem to change with a book and a cup of coffee to soothe the tension away. I prefer any book with happy or optimistic ending. I have been a part of 2018 Reading challenge and that proved to be quite encouraging that I signed up for 2019 Reading Challenge. Can't wait to get to know about you guys!
Hi everyone!! My name is aztric! I am from Panama! I love to read! 💫 my favorite book: cathedral of the sea. By ildenfonso falcones!. My challenge this year is to read 12 book but If i could read more I will be more than great! Nice to meet you all.
Hi I’m Carolina and I am from Sweden. I found this group while scrolling through the website.
The genre I always go for is fantasy, YA or sci if.
My goal for 2019 is to read at least 15 books.
Hi! My name is Whitley and I’m from the US. I joined this group a while ago but I wasn’t very active on Goodreads and am just now getting into it and checking out the group. I love reading and can’t go anywhere without a book in my hand :) I’m excited to be a part of a group and be introduced to new novels!
I'm from Ontario, Canada, I like to read Fantasy and YA. I was looking for groups to join and stumbled upon this one. My reading goal is to start and the Shadowhunter Chronicles and try and catch up by the end of the year.
Welcome to the group, everyone! Have a look around and join the group activities that interest you, we have challenges, a monthly group read, buddy reads and much more!
Hey Peeps, put down the book for a sec and read about MEEEE!!!I'm Marc. From Ontario (Greater Toronto Area most of my younger life) but currently settled in North Carolina. Between parenting, other domestic duties, and work, I have somehow seriously ramped up my reading game in the past year. I have so much to catch up on!
I am primarily a Fantasy man, and of late have been very interested in foundational works of the past 100+ years, in both adult and children's fantasy. I vastly prefer fiction to non-, because I get enough real life in real life.
I set my reading goal at 90 for this year, which is meant to include a number of graphic novels and children's books. If I complete a full-length novel in a week I am happy, although of late I am tackling more than that. It may be that I am simply choosing shorter reads, plus finding more reading time by taking a longer bus ride, but honestly I think my reading speed has improved over recent months. Getting reading glasses has probably helped too (yes, I am at that age now, apologies to all of you who have always needed glasses).
I plan to get through much of my TBR list, which I have kept relatively curated and intentional, as well as many books that have been piling up at home (which I left off my online TBR list, figuring that visual cues would remind me to read them in time). I just signed up for the March 2019 TBR buddy thing in this group, hope to make some reading friends! Because honestly, the people around me IRL are not on the same page as me.
Well, let's see what happens!
Hi Everyone! My name is Sagar and I am from India. I found this group while browsing through group feature.
The genre i usually like is fantasy fiction but i am trying to explore all types of genres. So, I would love to get recommendations of books to start in different genres from fellow group members.
My goal for 2019 is to read at least 25 books.
Welcome everyone! We are closing in on 19,000 members. Thank you so much for being part of our group.
Hi All! My name is Chris and I am from the US. Now that my kids are older I have found my love for books once again. I am willing to read any genre and my reading goal for 2019 is 50...ten more than last year. I look forward to chatting with everyone.
Hi Chris welcome to the group! I hope that you use our challenges to help us reach your 50 books. Is there an author that you love to read? I look forward to seeing what you read.
Hello everyone, My name is Lisa, I am 23 years old, live in The Netherlands.
I love to read mistery, thrillers, YA contemporary, supernatural and some YA fantasy.
Last year my reading goal was 50 and I made it to 71 books!
I want to challange myself this year and try to read 100 books....
And I could really use the motivation inspiration and interaction.
Oh and also I'd love to meet new people
Hi Lisa welcome! 71 is an achievement you should be proud. I can tell you you are surrounded by people who love books. You can join a challenge request a buddy and have fun. I can't wait to see what kind of an adventure you have with us and your books.
Hey everyone I’m veronica, I’m a new nurse, I live in Southern California and was born and raised here. I started reading as a hobby since I was around 7 . One of my earliest childhood memories was picking a book to read and sitting under our huge palm tree in the backyard while all my other siblings were playing hide and seek. My dad and his friend still tell that story every chance they get, about little Ronnie always sitting under the palm tree reading. I lost touch with reading in the last few years, because...life. I recently in the last year started building up my collection again little by little trying to figure out myself which type of genres I like to read now that I’m in my thirties. I have come to realize that I’ve always loved murder/mystery , suspense and horror books. I remember reading R.L Stein as a kid cuz you know, that was scary at the time. I was introduced to James Patterson a few years ago and have read 2 of his books and loved both of them. I also like historical fiction, and a good true crime read.
I came on good reads to find more information about different authors because I can’t say I have a favorite since I’ve been out of commission for some time but I hope to become more familiar with what types of genres I prefer.
Any recommendations would be appreciated.

Veronica welcome to the group happy to have you. I think that you will find tons of challenges will help you find new authors to love and challenges to enjoy.
Hi all. I'm Jenn from Connecticut in the US. I am a librarian (both childrens and adult reference). For the 2.5 years of my 2 masters programs and working full time, and the .5 year I spent recovering, I kind of stopped reading, so now I'm trying to pick it back up.n My goal is 52 books, which is a book a week. At the rate I'm going though I should surpass that. I'm currently working through my personal want to read list, this years A-Z challenge (of which there is some overlap), and book club titles for the book club that I run at my library. So yeah, initial goal of 52, but I expect it will be closer to 60 or 70 when all is said and done.
As for authors/topics that I like to read, I am currently on a World War II kick, but I tend to like war novels, YA fiction, mysteries, historical fiction, and suspense novels. I have different favorite books and authors depending on my mood. I tend to always like Douglas Adams, Jane Austen, Dan Brown, and Ann Rinaldi.
I initially joined goodreads years ago, but never really used it. Now I'm using it for ideas for myself, but also for readers advisory ideas.
Hello my name is Lucy and i live in Derbyshire, England. I like to read Fantasy, YA, Contemporary. I came across this group by accident and reading through the comments and the sections, it seemed like a very friendly group that id like to be a part of. My reading goal is to find a book that gets me out of a reading slump i have been in for a few years.
Hello, my name is Sandra and I live in the United States. I enjoy reading thrillers, mystery, chick lit, financial, self help, and humor genres. I am really hoping to read more than I do and felt that joining the group would help towards my reading goal of 20 books. I hope to exceed that but since I only read 19 books last year I figured I'd make it a reachable goal.
Hi everyone! My name is Amanda and I live in the United States. I love YA books, mostly fantasy and romance. Reading is my favorite thing to do, so I would like to reach my goal of 100 books this year.
Hi everyone. My name is Kelly and I live in Michigan. I love reading mostly fiction but am wanting to expand my horizons so happy to have found this group :)
Hello everyone in this international group of readers! Nice to meet you. I am Maria, 57, from Helsinki, Finland.I like to read but often I have periods of time when I don't read at all (except for social media, which, I accept, takes up too much of time!). And then there are periods, when I read and read. Now is that time and it feels good.
I have read almost all of Anne Tyler's works, and I love her style to describe everyday routine and find all nyances beneath, and make the reader think whether it could be them or anyone they know. I'd like to know if there are any other Anne Tyler fans here, or if anyone can recommend me books alike her style.
I have joined the Reading Challenge, and aim to read at least 50 books this year. Let's see how it goes!
Hello everyone!I'm Sarah, a 22 year old Frenchie in my 4th year of medical school.
As a kid, I absolutely loved reading, comics, classic literature from my country, children's books... I've always read pretty fast, and when I get an afternoon dedicated to it I can easily devour over 300 pages. I went through very difficult times around the time I started my 2nd year of medschool, and stopped reading. As I'm doing better now, I've started again, and it's like meeting up with an old friend.
I've decided to take part in the 2019 reading challenge to force myself to read instead of scrolling endlessly on stupid websites, and because I have a huge pile of books I bought but never opened. I set my goal to 50, including mangas and novels, because I read fast and mangas usually take me less than one hour to read. I decided to join a group to stay motivated!
I read in French as well as in English.
My favorite authors are Amélie Nothomb, Stephen King, Cecelia Ahern, Rainbow Rosell and James Dashner, and my favorite genres are YA, scifi, fantasy, horror, and romance (although I mainly read M/M and F/F romance because I'm tired of the clichés I sadly often see in heterosexual romance novels).
My favorite mangas are Junko, Furudate Haruichi andTakeuchi Naoko. I enjoy magical girls as well as BL/GL.
My all-time favorite novels are Firestarter, Matilda, Dora: a Headcase and Crosstalk.
My absolute favorite mangas are Haikyuu!!, Mob Psycho 100, Seven Princes of the Thousand Years Labyrinth and Genkaku Picasso.
My other hobbies are drawing, writing (fanfiction as well as original stories) and cosplay. I also love to put stickers, keychains and badges on everything!
This was rather long, so thank you if you read it all :) feel free to message me if you have any common interests!
Hello,I am Ebru from Turkey. I used to be bookworm in my younger times and now I have lost my pace. My favorite genres are fantasy and crime, but I want to challenge myself by stepping out of my comfort zone.
This year I have set my goal as 36 books and I have already read 6. I hope I keep this pace this year and complete my challenge.

Hi Sarah welcome! Happy to have you join us. It looks like you have tons of hobbies that go well with reading you will fit right in. Have you started your challenge? I think the challenges we have will keep you motivated. Best of luck and welcome.

my goal for the year is to read 52 books. I think that's realistic for me. I'd love to read more, but we'll see how it goes. I will probably read a lot more over the summer than I do during the school year since I will have more time to myself. I am not planning on counting children's books for this challenge unless I read them for me (like Harry Potter) or they take me longer than a week to read with my kids.
I am most comfortable reading in urban fantasy and sci find, but I'm also trying to expand my horizons, so I'm spending more time looking at new authors and visiting the library.
I'm excited to be reading with you all this year!
