Can I use the In Love With Alien Santa Claus for the BR? It was defo a buddy read, though not in the main BR thread area....
On my personal SS, it doesn't show that I've read one 20 point book. Is there a way to fix that because I am locked out of it? Thanks, MODs. :) When it says read something tagged on the first page, that isn't the same as the MPG where the book and its genre and author into etc. are shown, is it? It would be when you click "see top shelve" and on that very first page, right?

Hi, bit of a simple question....is the spreadsheet the only place i need to log my read books?thanks!
Read a book shelved (listed on the first page of the "top shelves" of the book) as next-up - plurals and minor spelling variations are acceptableWill next or read-next work for this?
For the bonus task, are those books a task on their own or can we use a book we've read for a different task and count it towards the bonus? Thanks!

Other than marking as read on your goodreads shelf? Yes 😀

Yes, everyone is!
Your formulas are right though from what I can see

No, every task has to be separate books

Karen, any chance you could link up the task FAQ sheet? / what is "Modern History" / "Post Modern" ?
Sure - it is here, but there are goals not on there as we haven't updated it in a bit :o
P.s
Modern History is 1500 - 1969
Post Modern is 1973–present

I just looked at the FAQ spreadsheet we have (now linked above) and it says as long as the meaning is the same, so with that in mind, those other variations will work

Modern History is after the post-classical era ~ 1500 - 1969

Thanks! A bit of self-serve on some of the tasks is good for evryone! :)

Yes, thanks for reminding me. I did think about it when I was first writing the challenge and then it popped out of my head again ;)

For the December bonus task, the spreadsheet gave me points even though I have only read one of the books. I tried putting in a second to see what happened, and it gave me a second 250 points. Just wanted to let you know.
Probably chancing my arm a bit here but given the whole Aussie/NZ thing would you consider Christmas a summer related word?

I can't help myself - what's the period of 1969-1973???

For that one please put both books in the same row. I couldn’t really split it as 2x125 because the task is for two books and if someone only reads one they shouldn’t get 125 points. The formulas required to do otherwise do my head in 😉
Just leave the read date blank until the second book is read
--edit-- you could also have a second line leaving the task number blank if you wanted to link to both books
Thanks!

Well... for me it is! When I think of Christmas I do think of summer as that is how it has been for me for my whole existence. And seeing this is an upside down challenge. Sure! Fits the theme

Sorry, Tea! I was looking for a sign-up post....I read over the link to sign up several times. Thank you!!
Final question - I hope! The spreadsheet says "At the end of the challenge you will only be able to win in the category that your actual reading puts you in."
I signed up for Cocktail, as I'm on the cusp of Poolside/Cocktail. I plan to meet the minimum requirement for the Cocktail level, but if at the end of the challenge, my book count has me in Poolside level does that mean I would be in the Poolside category in rankings instead of Cocktail?
For the task to read a book where a character's name is also a word, does it have to be the first name? Or can it be the last name if that's what they go by?
Hi Maritza - we give permission to the email used at sign up. I’ve just re-added you if you can check your emails. Sometimes there are issues with non-gmail email addresses so if you find it doesn’t work if you have a gmail you can send to us we can add that
Hi Angie - it’s whatever level you have as highest through the challenge. If you check out message two of this thread that may help explain 😉
Basically if you are on the cusp you should read for the higher level each month

For task 43: ISBN-10, can we use the ISBN # on Amazon for the paperback version if we read the Kindle version, or do we have to read the paperback/hardback version and use that ISBN #? Also, does 0 count for an even number?
Hi Brooklyn
There is a spreadsheet linked in the first page of this thread where you will find answers to most common questions about goals. For your question I am copying and pasting from there below:
——-
letters within the ISBN should be ignored, 0 counts as an even number
If there's no ISBN listed for the version you read then you can use the most common/default goodreads copy.
——-
Because the task is “read a book with...” it does need to be the version you are reading that has the ISBN

I swear I read through the faqs and this thread before asking this...If I read a book that does not fit any of the month's tasks, so it is not entered on the spreadsheet, but it is listed on my read books shelf, does it count toward my total books read for the month?
I think it needs to go on the sheet with no task info, cos there's no automation to check you've read the signed up overall no of books

In the Date Read column in the spreadsheet, do I write down the date I started reading or the day I finished reading?
