Hello! Glad y'all started this group. I love psychological horror....Bird Box, The Shining. But, i read all types.
Hello!I also love haunted houses, monsters, and serial killers in my stories. I love a good sense of pace, atmosphere, scares, and gore to keep me interested!
Hello all! I'm Elizabeth and I like a lot of horror. One of my favorite sub-genres is zombie novels because they are so varied and different. Some of my favorites are the Newsflesh series by Mira Grant, The Girl with All the Gifts by M. R. Carey, I Zombie by Hugh Howey, The Reapers are the Angels by Alden Bell, and World War Z by Max Brooks.
Yay!! Glad you gals started a group... it was because of you I started my first ever book photo challenge... I’m all about horror and serial killers or true crime 👍
Hi everyone! I love all things horror. However, anything spiritual (exorcisms/possessions) terrify me. Not sure I want to read the Exorcist. Fear of the unknown, you know. I'm not really scared of say serial killers because I can fight back, I suppose. I would really love to have some real werewolf novels. Not this werewolf supernatural romance stuff. I love Stephen King's Cycle of the Werewolf and Gary Brandner's The Howling. I've found a few to put on my TBR, but seems pretty scarce.
Hi! I've been on an apocalyptic kick of late. I finished the audio edition of The Stand as well as Mike Bockoven's FantasticLand. I like horror that is grounded in reality, wherein you're not sure if what's happening is real or your own imagination.
Hey all! I’m newer to the horror genre, haven’t read much of it since high school, so I’m still figuring out what sub genres I like. So far I have loved everything by Grady Hendrix (his newest is still on my TBR list) and Paul Tremblay. I’m excited to join this group!
Hey y’all! Excited there’s now a group for the podcast! Thanks Stephanie! Favorite sub genre would have to be possessions, haunted houses, and anything on the psychological side. I do love most horror though 🙂
Hi, I'm Emily! My favorites are haunted house, slasher, possession, and a couple others. I've been reading a lot of horror poetry.
Hello! So glad this is a group now! I dabble in all kinds of horror but I think my favourite is creature horror that's based on mythology in some way (I am so deeply in love with Into The Drowning Deep by Mira Grant that it's ridiculous) and I love a good ambiguous horror where you can't quite tell if something supernatural is going on or not (thanks Paul Tremblay)
Hey guys! I read all kinds of horror/thrillers. I too tend to enjoy the psychological reads the most. Love the podcast, patreon member here!
Hi everyone! I think my favorite sub-genre of horror is Stephen King. :) I've read horror since I was a teen but this podcast has so many great suggestions to add to my TBR! I read Into the Drowning Deep based on their suggestion, and it was great. (I was surprised at how much I enjoyed Into the Drowning Deep since I read the Newsflesh trilogy first and those books didn't blow my socks off.)
Hi everyone I'm Donna. Of course I like all horror but I tend to first pick up Occult, Haunting, and/or Monster sub-genres. Ania Ahlborn, Paul Tremblay, and John Ajvide Lindqvist are a few of my faves. So excited for the group!
Hey All!! I love reading all types of horror novels and comics. My favorite sub genres are apocalyptic, survival and paranormal. Bonus points if it is also Southern Gothic.
Hi! My name is Jill and I’m a huge fan of the podcast. My TBR is growing with each episode. My favorite sub genres are ghost stories, psychological horror, and vampires! The Shining is one of my favorite books of all time.
Whasssuuup'? Name's Mitch. I teach high school and love all things horror. My wife and coworkers think something's most likely wrong with me. My parents never censored anything so from a very young age I was watching the horror classics. I'm a book hoarder and I my TBR stack is constantly growing. My favorite sub-genre's include creepy kids, missing kids, possessions, haunted houses and body-horror.
Hello. My name is Elizabeth, but you can call me Eli (pronounced “E-lie”). As an avid outdoors-woman, I love survivalist horror with supernatural elements, especially if they are set in the height of winter with blisteringly cold weather and snow. Bone White by Ronald Malfi is one of my favorites. I also love science fiction horror like Unidentified by Michael McBride.
Elated that you have started this group as an addition to the podcast and Facebook page. Thank you kindly.

Hi! Is it ok to say my favorite sub-genre is Stephen King? 🙈 lol! My favorite book of all time is IT so I might have a thing for clowns. I also enjoy post apocalyptic and ghost stories too. I’m glad to be a part of the group and am looking forward to some new reads!
I only recently found the podcast thanks to a shout out from The Horror Pod Class, and am now giddily going through all the past episodes. I'll read just about anything, but my favorite subgenres are weird and cosmic horror, and my least favorite are splatter punk and extreme horror.
Hello! My favorite sub-genres are witches/folklore and disease/epidemic (non-zombie) horror. If you have any recommendations let me know!
Hello! Been reading more mysteries and thrillers the last couple of years so I guess serial killers and the like are my favorite sub genre. But looking forward to diving into some other types of horror. Creature horror would probably be my 2nd favorite.
I'm a musician, so at the moment I'm spending a lot of time on horror fiction that uses music or musicians as a plot element. There has been an explosion of such stories in the past couple of years--and they span a range of horror sub-genres
Hi Everyone,This is my officially hello. While I may not be a regular "voice" on the podcast this year, I will definitely still be around the podcast and can't wait to discuss horror books with everyone in this group.
You know I love possession/exorcisms stories and I love me some good body horror!
Best,
Rachel
(Also, don't be shy to "friend" me on GR if you want to compare books, etc)
Yay! Glad to see you'll be around here to discuss books. Miss you on the podcast, it feels like when a school friend moves away.
Hello everyone! Huge fan of the podcast. It has expanded my horror horizons! I find that I’ll read about any type of horror, but I love a good psychological horror story.
Hi - I just found your podcast and am super excited to join this group. I have been a long time horror reader and am always looking for new, off the beaten path books to add to my pile. I love creepy books and most of the sub-genres, but I really love a good possession/exorcism. My favourite horror books are House of Leaves, The Ruins, and Head Full of Ghosts.
Hello! I'm Kylie and I love zombies and post apocalyptic. I have read books from the other sub-genres from time to time but it's only since finding the podcast that I've been actively seeking different horror books out. Here's to the never ending TBR ;)
Hi, I'm Josée and I love all kinds of horror. I especially like when body horror is involved. The Troop by Nick Cutter and The Ruins by Scott Smith are great for that!
Hi everyone! I’m sandy and I love possession, haunted house, and psychological horror the best. But, I’m usually down for horror in general. I’m late getting started with the reading list but hope to be completely caught up by the end of April
Hi friends!! I'm a huge horror lover, as we all are :) I love haunted houses and ghost stories. My mom raised us on creepy folktales haha One of my absolute favorite horror books is The Elementals by Michael McDowell, and I lost my mind over The Changeling by Victor LaValle! I'm currently reading Lovecraft Country by Matt Ruff and loving it, and next up is The Good House by Tananarive Due, which I've been excited to dig into for a while now. And I of course love Stephen King and Shirley Jackson lol I love the podcast, and I'm so excited to be a part of this horror community!
Hiya all, I just started the podcast and am happy to have found this group. I love a good thriller or a slow burn horror. Piercing by Ryu Murakami and Slade House by David Mitchell are two that come to mind. Most of the thrillers I like aren't quite fully supernatural, but I love ones that are a little ambiguous and give you a good spine chill.
Looking forward to lurking and discovering new reads :)
Hi everyone I’m so glad I found this group and the podcast. Thank you for opening up a lot more horror authors and recommendations. I’m looking forward to reading again and catching up new Indie Authors as well .
Hi All,My name is Fred. I discovered the podcast about a month or two ago and have worked my way through a lot of the older episodes. Really enjoying how the podcast delves into a specific type of horror each episode. Looking forward to being introduced to new authors and genre sub categories.
Glad to see I'm not the only "latecomer" just discovering the podcast and the chance to expand my horror reading! I've enjoyed creepy stories ever since I was a kid. Three of my favorites I've read in the last few years are Between Two Fires by Christopher Buehlman, Lovecraft Country by Matt Ruff, and The Girl with All the Gifts by M.R. Carey, and I'm a constantly trying to find dark fantasy/fariytale that verges on horror, like Uprooted by Naomi Novik.
Hello and Happy Halloween. I just joined this group a little while ago. I love reading horror, I am really into slashers stories, like "The Final Girls" and "Disco Deathtrap." I also really like the witch story. Thanks for having this group and the podcast. =)
Hello! In the Best of 2019 with Rachel she mentioned she likes winter and Christmas horror. I thought I was the only one. I read NOS4A2, and was overjoyed that there were terrifying events happening in a place called Christmasland. What a joy!
Louise wrote: "Hello! In the Best of 2019 with Rachel she mentioned she likes winter and Christmas horror. I thought I was the only one. Hi! I just started listening to the podcast last week, and I'm addicted. Subgenres, hmmm...I love well-written sci-fi horror, survival horror, weird fiction, and female protagonists. I like atmosphere and creepiness.
Hi, I'm Alex. I discovered the podcast looking for a Riley Sager podcast a few months ago. I listened to that one and promptly devoured the other episodes. My favorite genre(s) of horror are gothic, folk, cosmic, eco-horror, and giallo.

Hi! I'm Noemi. My friends don't like reading scary books lol So I'm so glad to find this podcast/group! I've mostly just read Stephen King so far, so I'm excited to see what else is out there. This summer I bought Harvest Home and Rosemary's Baby to represent the classics and Home Before Dark and Horrorstor to represent contemporary books. So far I've only read Horrorstor and it was extreeeemely satisfying.
Hi Everyone! I am Cody. New to the podcast and have been loving it. I am excited to connect with all the awesome listeners in this Group!
Hey all, I'm Iesha. Been listening to the podcast for about 2 years now. Been reading since I was young but after high school, I kind of fell off from it. In the last 2-3 years, my love for reading had been reignited. And I'm just looking to meet like-minded folks who like reading dark and spooky stories!
I uhh just figured out that I needed to be on the desktop version of GR to do a lot of things lol…. But hi! I’m Beth, I’m a newish listener, (taking a break from catching up to the new stuff due to constantly having my head in a book the last couple months). I’ve been reading novels since I was a kid but fell out of it when I began working 6 days a week a few years ago. Thankfully I’m back into it. Started with YA thrillers/YA romance and worked my way to serial killer fiction and then true crime then lastly landing on horror.
My favourite sub-genre is… if I have to pick: paranormal/possession but also a good dynamic breakdown (familial or friends doesn’t matter). Always open to suggestions. My only hard no/red light is torture p*rn/extreme self m*tilation.
Hi everyone, I'm Shanna. Been a horror fan for quite a while. Found the podcast after stumbling onto Stephanie's TikTok. My phone is now filled with screenshots of books and recommendations, lol. I am also a big horror movie fan. Actually anything dark and creepy is right up my alley. My favorite tropes are haunted houses/aslyums, psychological, Gothic, and possession. Loved monsters, especially vampires, for as long as I can remember. Least favorite are home invasion, torture, or body horror.
I'm excited to find others that are like minded and look forward to some interesting discussions.
