I have a question about this challenge. Number 13 on the Quality Dark Fiction list is Interview With the Vampire by Anne Rice. I've read that book a million times and, as many know, there is a new Vampire Chronicle being released on October 28th called Prince Lestat (by Anne Rice). I pre-ordered this book awhile ago and would like to use it for this challenge, if permitted.

has a black cover and is a part of the series that Interview With the Vampire started.

No. If the book is on the list, you can use it, even if your edition has a different cover.

Since the book is not 500 pages, you'll have to start over. But the task doesn't prohibit re-reads.
