I remember loving this book so much when I read it the first time but now I'm just finding myself annoyed with Alina and how much she pines for Mal. It's frustrating to watch her not even try to accept her new role. She just says she can't do it and judges everyone else. But of course now that she's kissed the Darkling it's all going to change. So Alina spirits off into the night but luckily runs into Mal because I honestly don't think she would have survived by herself. I thought that since this is the second book in the series it would be a little slower, but it's not at all. The part where Alina and the crew escaped the Darkling's ship surprised me. Finished: Though I had no problem falling right back into this world again I think I did like the first book better. This love... square or w/e we have going on here is exhausting me lol. Excited to get to the next one!

Ayama and the Thorn Wood: (view spoiler)[ a girl born to parents who prefer their other daughter and a prince born as a beast. I loved the interactions between Ayama and the beast and how she would twist the stories she would tell him so that they were from her heart and I think the beast really responded to that. The Too-Clever Fox: (view spoiler)[ a story about a clever fox who is not quite as clever as he thinks he is. In all of his cleverness, he failed to see that the hunter was the girl right in front of him. This book was all about perspectives and how we think we are more clever than we actually are. The Witch of Duva: (view spoiler)[ My favorite so far and just chilling! When girls go missing, a daughter begins to suspect her new stepmother of treachery, but in actuality it was her own father who was killing the girls. This one will stay with me (hide spoiler)]

When Water Sand Fire: (view spoiler)[ I believe this was the longest story in the book and an origin story for Ursula. This was the story of how two girls came to be friends only to be torn apart by a Prince and greed. (hide spoiler)]
