I'm going to read the short stories all together when I read The language of thorns. My friend told me that even though that's not the reading order, the short stores make more sense and more of an impact after you finish the original trilogy.

(view spoiler)[This book is really easy to read. I appreciate how fast moving it is. I'm enjoying it so far. But it still bugs me that we're kind of just thrown into this world with not a lot of explanation and we have to figure everything out ourselves.

I like Genya. And I want to know more about her.

The Darkling I kind of like but I'm still suspicious of him.

I feel like something is going to go down with the king. I'm not sure I believe that someone as powerful as the Darkling would be okay taking orders from that guy.

I feel like maybe Baghra is related to the Darkling. Maybe his mom. Idk I'll have to see. (hide spoiler)]

(view spoiler)[So things have really picked up. I'm not surprised by the Darkling wanting more power and wanting to control Alina. And even though he is the ‘bad guy’ I still like him more than Mal?! Like I don't even mind that he's kinda evil now? I still love him lol

I'm not particularly fond of Mal, but I'm glad he came back and is helping Alina. I doubt it's going to be easy for them to get to the stag and I'm anticipating another plot twist. (hide spoiler)]

No rush! I just wanted to finish this first book and maybe start on the second one before Tuesday which is the release day of Queen of Air and darkness. So while I'm reading that, I'll be reading a bit slower of Siege and storm.

Yes, I did feel like some things were predictable, but the writing and the plot was just so unique it overshadowed the faults for me.

I will admit that I sorta like Mal now. Although I was legit rolling my eyes when he said “I’m sorry it took me so long to see you, Alina. But I see you now.” Eye. Roll.

The Darkling is terrible but I'm still intrigued by him.

I hope nothing happened to my precious Genya and David who are now my otp. How cute are those two? 💕

This middle section is kind of slow, but I'm still very invested in the story.

Alina was kind of meh throughout Shadow and bone. But she was really annoying in this one. I can only hope she gets a personality improvement in the next book.
