Eat, Pray, Love will always be special to me as it gave me the courage I needed to make a major life change that was going to upset a lot of people, but that changed everything for the better for me. While my situation was not even remotely close to hers (nothing to do with a divorce), and I didn't get to travel the world to find myself, I still gained so much from reading this book. I doubt I will ever read it again, though, since I suspect it won't have a similar impact now.

Thanks for the suggestion to do this! One of my biggest goals next year is to read down my insanely long TBR--a combination of books I own plus those I have come across I want to read over the years. Adding the number of reviews is helpful--at least for this prompt. :)

I might do Eat, Pray, Love as I love that movie and have not read the book. Or I might do The Book Thief as I liked that move and am looking for a book over 500 pages to read in 2019 and this would count for that as well. I might do The Giver as it's on the Great American Read list, I have been thinking of reading it and a lot of my Goodreads friends gave it a good rating. Last on the list of possible books for this topic is Eragon. My boys liked it and own it, and it's more than 500 pages.

@Sarah - I have The Alchemist penciled in for this year so I can’t speak on it. But I can speak on The Hobbit. It has slightly old fashioned speech but despite that, it is a story about a rather innocent and chubby young man who agrees to go on an adventure. It doesn’t have a lot of the complicated backstories that the rest of Tolkien’s books do. I loved it. (I loved LotR too but it has a different flavor, altogether.)

Well, the Alchemist is a lot shorter, so there's that. :-)

In my personal opinion The Hobbit is the better book, but might also have a smaller niche in terms of readership that enjoys it. I'd say it's worth at least trying The Hobbit, especially if you enjoy classics or older/classic fantasy.
