I've already got a list of 2019 books I'm looking forward to, and The Millions list hasn't even come out yet. I'm MOST excited about The True Queen, a continuation of Cho's fantastic Victorian fantasy series begun with Sorcerer to the Crown. I've been eagerly awaiting this book for (feels like) forever!!

So, the first book I see is Rothfuss' Kingkiller Chronicle 3. I don't quite believe it, but can anyone confirm (or the opposite)? I haven't actually read them, since my son read the first two and we had a look at the release dates and thought to ourselves it might take a while for the third to come out, and I decided to wait. That was a while ago.

The 4 books I'm interested in are Dutch Girl: Audrey Hepburn and World War II, American Pop, Broken Stars: Contemporary Chinese Science Fiction in Translation, and Talent (also works for campus setting).

I'm hoping to read Daisy Jones and The Six by Taylor Jenkins Reid for this, but it comes out in March and I don't think I can wait until the end of the challenge to read it! I'll probably end up using a Book of the Month club book for this pick -- that's where I get most of my new releases from anyway.

I have a few options but the one I'm planning on using for this is The Butterfly Museum - it's the sequel to The Child Finder that I read this year and was one of my favourite books this year.

Of course, I'm always hoping I'll be able to use Doors of Stone, The Thorn of Emberlain, or The Winds of Winter, but at this point I'm not holding my breath for any of those.

I can confirm the Kingkiller Chronicle is incredible. I loved both The Name of the Wind and The Wise Man's Fear as well as the novella The Slow Regard of Silent Things. But seriously...don't expect book 3 anytime soon. It'll be 8 years come March 2019 since book two was published. Rothfuss has stated that if he had actual news of a release date for book 3 he would announce it and share it with people and that hasn't happened yet.

The books that I'm looking forward to reading that are coming out in 2019 are Stay Sexy & Don’t Get Murdered: The Definitive How-To Guide and Heroine but I feel like I may already read those two before week 51.

Nadine, I love the Game of Thrones series, but I won't go near the books. I don't want to fall in love even more and then be among the people patiently getting stood up by an author.

With regards to Rothfuss I’ll believe it when I see it. He has said relatively recently that he’s sort of finished it but it’s currently a 3 1/2 Star read and he’s rewriting and playing with it and not handing it over until it’s a 5 Star read. Who can blame him after the first two.

I have the Name of the Wind and The Wise Mans Fear and the smaller one (whatever that is and I know it was mentioned above lol) and am waiting for number 3 before I start reading them.

I am waiting for Holy Sister by Mark Lawrence next year. I’ve read Red Sister (amazing) and have Grey Sister here ready to go. Actually won a signed hardcover edition in a competition that he was running in a Fantasy bookclub he started on here.

Also there’s probably a new Stephen King due out sometime next year.....

I’m only just reading the Broken Empire series now Johanne so I can’t say. I only started reading again about 13 months ago and even though I’ve read 78 books so far this year I can’t keep up with all of the must reads but there are some I better read (and fast). I’m just a little way into Prince of Thorns. Which I do really like btw but I’ve become distracted by The Gentleman’s Guide to Vice and Virtue (didn’t have PoT with me the other day and started reading it and now I have the two sitting there on the go) and yesterday I read Stephen Kings newie Elevation while sitting in a Chinese restaurant having lunch. Again I didn’t have what I was reading with me and started one I’d just bought lol Just as well it’s only short.

People are saying the Book of the Ancestor series (Red, Grey, and Holy Sister) are just as good or better than Broken Empire. I really loved Red Sister and gave it all of the Stars. And Grey Sister is supposed to be better again. Lots of well written strong girls kicking butt.

I am super excited about The Book of Flora by Meg Elison, the third book in the Road to Nowhere series, which is supposed to be published in April.

The main book I am excited about is The Winter of the Witch by Katherine Arden. That entire series is just amazing and the books would work for multiple categories.

If I use that for something else, I might do Riley Sager's new book or Daisy Jones and The Six.

It’s pretty rare that I read new releases- I can count on one hand how many books I’ve read this year that were actually published in 2018. I like to wait until I can hear what other people think of books, unless it’s an author I trust. So this ones going to be TBD for a while for me.

I'm really excited to read Golden Child by Claire Adam. It's due for release in January and I already have a hold placed at my library. Its the second book released by Hogarth under the Sarah Jessica Parker imprint. The first (A Place for Us) is probably my top read of this year. So I have high hopes. And it's set in Trinidad so fits my goal of reading 10 books set in countries I've never read about before.

Just yesterday finished reading - for #51 - INHERITANCE: A MEMOIR OF GENEALOGY, PATERNITY, & LOVE by Dani Shapiro. Today started on a book for #46 (A book with a [mostly] black cover) - I mention it in my review of INHERITANCE here on GR.

Often enough. I browse all kind of places re books- stores, Amazon, etc. Also get recommendations via friends & Bookmarks magazine. And there are always unexpected places too!

Lots of places, but the interview with author in Bookmarks greatly influenced my decision to read it sooner than later, plus another factor, noted in my review on GR.

I read Wild Country for this prompt. I don't usually read newly published books because I try to take a FIFO approach to my TBR list. I learned about this book through a friend who also follows Anne Bishop.

I read Valencia and Valentine for this prompt. I've been trying to fill the challenge with only owned TBR books, which obviously doesn't work great with this prompt, so I used a book I got for free through Kindle First Reads. I may actually end up using a different First Reads prompt for this one though, and switching this over to dual timeline, unless I happen across something else on my shelf that works there.

I don't really care about reading new books, except on some occasions where I make the mistake of starting an unfinished series. I do occasionally browse the new books section of the library though, so a few of the books I end up reading are new releases.
