I picked the first book that came to mind which was Where or When by Anita Shreve. Its not one of her better books judging by the reviews, but I really enjoy her writing and was sad to hear of her passing last year. Also, its probably one of the books thats been collecting dust on my shelf for the longest, so its either getting read or getting donated.

For those who enjoy historical mysteries, all of the books in C.S. Harris's Sebastian St. Cyr series start with one of the 5Ws. The first book is What Angels Fear

This was one of the prompts I was less than enthused about initially, having done it a couple of years back and struggled to find something (and not liking what I did read), but this time around the options seem much more appealing ... also this thread has added a few to my list!
To add even more confusion to the crawfish/crawdad/crayfish debate, in Australia (at least where I'm from), we call them yabbies. I've just realised what a ridiculous name that is. 🤣

LOL Jody welcome to the club!! So if its just one Crayfish is it a Yabby? Because thats a four letter word 😏
Jody wrote: "Yes, one is a yabby!"Next time I buy one for my tank thats what we're going to name it....Yabby. LOL
Our last few were Big Tuna and Little Tuna ( I don't know why? Five year olds.....)
I plan to read:
Why Not Me?
It's been on my tbr for a while so I am looking forward to getting it gone
I'm probably going to read What was she thinking?, Zoe Heller, and I found it as suggestion in the Popsugar group for the prompt "a book with a question the title". So that dove tailed nicely.
I picked up A Truth Universally Acknowledged: 33 Great Writers on Why We Read Jane Austen from the Jane Austen Society booth at the Brooklyn Book Fair last year and I've been dying to read it. There's my "why!"
Kelly wrote: "I am looking forward to reading What Alice Forgot I really loved Moriarty's books!!"I loved this one :-)
Has anyone mentioned What Is the What? That would work here.
Helen wrote: "Maybe I will actually read Where the Red Fern Grows. I have started it many times but quit, because I don't feel like crying just then."I would cry.......😩
I have Who Let the Gods Out? penciled in for this one, but it might change depending on what else I read
Just to add to the crawdad/crawfish/yabby chat. We call them crayfish here in the UK!I'm going to read What We Keep for this prompt. I just did a search on my unread books (less results than I thought), and this was a recent purchase so figured I'd save it from the familiar fate of years on my TBR pile!
Looks like I will be reading Who Fears Death by Nnedi Okorafor. It’s a Jan group read in another GR group and I’ve got it on hold. Should be in by January. I’ve never even heard of it but have read her Binti series.
I loved Who Fears Death!! (It is, in fact, the only book by Okorafor that I really loved, everything else I've read by her has been just okay.)
I have Jepp, Who Defied the Stars sat on my shelves already so I'll probably go with that but Where Angels Fear to Tread is also calling my name.
Tracy wrote: "Johanne wrote: "What the F: What Swearing Reveals About Our Language, Our Brains, and Ourselves" LOL, I feel like I should read this since every other word that comes out of my mouth is inappropriate. What does that say about me? Its awful ( although I have gotten better about it)"
Same here, I added it to my TBR straightaway! 😂
Johanne wrote: "@Tracy - studies show that swearing is a sign of intelligence and an extensive vocabulary ;)"
Thanks Johanne, that made me feel better 😘
I need to get back to Spanish before arriving in Argentina, so I'm probably going to read The Story of a Seagull and the Cat Who Taught Her to Fly by Luis Sepúlveda. We read it in my Spanish class when I was at school and I remember quite liking it! I'm glad for the dictionary on my Kindle though 😅
Sophie wrote: "Tracy wrote: "Johanne wrote: "What the F: What Swearing Reveals About Our Language, Our Brains, and Ourselves" LOL, I feel like I should read this since every other word that comes out of my mouth..."
Well, now we know who the swearing readers are @ Johanne, Jody, Sophie 😂
I had planned to read What If It's Us for this prompt, and knock out my LGBT+ and POC goals for January but my library has had the book "on order" for two months now and I'm just losing hope that I will get it in time to read for the second week of January.
So now I need to find another book for this prompt, and hopefully one that satisfies at least one of the two diversity goals I have for January. Decisions, decisions.
EDIT: Might go with When Dimple Met Rishi, which would be an easy read and covers my POC challenge.

I read that one this year for the TBR prompt... I hope you all like it more than I did!

This book has been on my TBR for a very long time. I'm going with a thriller called When she Woke by Hillary Jordan
Kelly wrote: "I am looking forward to reading What Alice Forgot I really loved Moriarty's books!!"That's my favorite book from Moriarty and it's the first one I read by her. It's about memory loss.
Who Asked You? by Terry McMillan. I love her writing. Also works for #3 A, T, and Y in author's name.

"This is a really good read!
Kelly wrote: "I am looking forward to reading What Alice Forgot I really loved Moriarty's books!!"I was going to save that book for this prompt, but ended up reading it earlier in the month, when I needed an Australian author for another challenge. It was even better than I expected. Maybe my favourite Liane Moriarty book.

And there's a movie coming out! The trailer looks great!

Lynette wrote: "Can we use "How"? I know that a lot of times it is included with the 5 W's."
That would probably be a "keep it simple" option -- I think it would count, but I have so many options already that I'm not including it in my list of potential books.

For those who might be finding this prompt difficult, don't forget you could use books with the qualifying words inside of other words, like His WHOle Life. Or compound words like somewhere, anywhere, elsewhere, everywhere, somewhat, whenever, etc., like Little Fires Everywhere.
Okay, because when I think about this prompt I instantly want to read How Long 'til Black Future Month?. I think that I am just going to make it work and keep it simple.
dalex wrote: "For those who might be finding this prompt difficult, don't forget you could use books with the qualifying words inside of other words, like His WHOle Life. Or compound words like s..."True, I will be reading Neverwhere for this prompt.
I was sorting my books (my annual shuffle of read vs to-read) and came across Harry Potter! To re-live my joy of the wizarding world, it prompted me to select Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them!
I am listening to Neverwhere for this category. Had to start it early because it came early from the library and you only get 14 days. I won't be done until 2019.
Nanette wrote: "I’m reading The Girl Who Smiled Beads. I’m trying to focus on books I own since I have so many piled up"Just finished this, it was really good. I learned so much.
If anyone is looking for an easy read for this prompt, Amazon has this kindle book
on sale for $1.99.
Count me in, too, for Where the Crawdads Sing. I've been wanting to read it for a while and here's my chance. Plus, none of the Tournament of Books titles have any of the 5 Ws this time. Where the Crawdads Sing was on the long list but didn't make the short list.
Starting my library ebook of When Dimple Met Rishi tomorrow! I've seen it mentioned all over this site and it seemed cute so I'm giving it a whirl.

I'm reading that for this prompt as well! I wanted to read What If It's Us but my library hold won't be here in time (as in, right now lol).
I wanted a POC book this month, and there are surprisingly few choices for POC authors/protagonists that have a W-word in the title... But this one looks like a cute, easy read so I'm excited to dive in.

- What are you reading for this category? Neverwhere- How did you find the book? I have wanted to read another Neil Gaiman since really liking The Ocean at the End of the Lane last year. This book fit well enough. I listened to the audiobook narrated by the author, he does a great job.
I plan to read Whose Body? by Dorothy L. Sayers. It’s the first of the Lord Peter Wimsey novels. I picked it primarily because I already own the ebook version.
I have just read Why I'm No Longer Talking to White People About Race by Reni Eddo-Lodge. It is really well reviewed on Goodreads. It's not an easy read at all and I'm still trying to figure out what I think about it.
I am probably going to read both my choices for this prompt, since one is an illustrated YA novel - it will go pretty quick. Those Who Run in the Sky
I found it on the 2019 Manitoba Young Readers Choice Award (MYRCA) nominee pamphlet: http://www.myrca.ca/wp-content/upload...
I found out about MYRCA last year; it's an easy way to discover newly published Canadian books for kids.
My second option is Whiskey When We're Dry
I'm pretty sure I found it off someone else's list.
