A subset of my friends leave our newest reads on tables in our homes so that when the other book-inclined come over, they can see and study its cover, as if it was a new artwork. One time at a barbecue the topic of conversation was "classics that feel modern."

I love book nerds. And yes, I or my friends are most of these!!

Kateb | 959 comments thanks Trike , the picture of us sitting at a table discussing this is amusing. Actually I live in a household of non readers so it is an email discussion with a sister, and this wonderful site that is my only book discussions

Recently I cleared out all of my nephews books he gave me, which included books he had from his kids growing up. Only to have a great grand son tell me he would nt mind a book for xmas. My god I nearly fell over in excitment

message 13: by Lowell (new)

Lowell (schyzm) | 578 comments I have one friend who periodically hits me up for recommendations.

I have to be careful with him though, because he always asks "this doesn't have some screwed up ending like Use of Weapons, does it?"
