Genna | 2 comments I have been searching for this book series for about 2 years now and I still can't find it. All I remember about the book is that in the end of the series the king and queen die and because they don't have any children, the kingdom crumbles under the rule of some new guy. This happens in he last few pages of the last book, and it is being told by a old man. I also know the book was published between the years 1970-1999 but that's about it.

Michele | 2488 comments Would you say this is a YA book or more for adults? You say it was a series -- do you recall how many books, or what happens in any of the other books? Even small events or incidents might strike someone's memory. Was the book thin or thick? Do you recall anything about the cover? Do the king and queen die naturally or is there a battle or plague or are they murdered? Any recollection of who the old man is -- is he for example the son of the king and queen, or their war leader, or just some random guy?

Lee Anne (ladyofrohan2995) | 181 comments Sounds a little like the end of The Princess and Curdie. In the last page or two, (view spoiler)

Hmm, except that series is two books, not a trilogy. Here's the end, though, if you want to see for yourself: http://www.gutenberg.org/files/709/70...

Maybe Pendragon's Banner series? It's a trilogy.

Don't worry, I don't read this genre so they're all complete stabs in the dark. But I did log into Novelist which has inspired a sudden burst of labor!

oh. my. god. thank you. That's it! I'm so glad you knew what I was talking about! I was so terribly vague.

Michele | 2488 comments Oh, that's an oldie but a goodie! Sequel to The Princess and the Goblin. Now I want to re-read those...
