Bryan | 5 comments Hey guys. Out of curiosity, I was wondering how many times you have read these books. I noticed in the other discussions that some of you have put a lot of time and effort into finding the most miniscule details for discussion. I have only read each book in this series once, so it would definitely be worthwhile for me to read them again and pick up on some of the details I missed in the first read-through.

message 2: by Jessica (new)

Jessica | 117 comments I have read them once each. I would like to re read them but there are sooooo many books I want to read in general (my to read list is gigantic!). I am hoping to download the audio versions soon and listen to them while I train.

message 3: by Becky  (new)

Becky  (nvrayn) | 25 comments I have never seen any reason to reread a book until...

This series and the Malazan series beg to be reread. It is is like reading a different book when you do. With the knowledge gleaned from the first read, you will have a totally new experience on the reread. Regarding the Audio version, I strongly recommend listening to these books on audio. The narration is incredible.

Renee E | 27 comments TNotW, dozens of times. I've worn out a trade paperback, then scored a hardbound at Edward McKay that I realized was a first edition after I'd read it a few times, along with a first edition hardbound that has NOT been read.

I haven't read TWMF as many times, mainly because all three copies I have are first editions, the one with the screw-up on the frontspiece, one signed, thanks to a great friend who met Pat at a Con in Washington when she gave him a Kvothe doll she'd sculpted.

I need to get reading copies of both. I'm ready to re-read them a few more times. If I had an e-reader I'd go that route.

Manda | 115 comments I'm honestly not sure. I've both read and listened to these books multiple times. Sometimes, I don't even read the whole book. I just revisit a certain scene or part.

Still, I'm sure I'm in double digits.

message 6: by Brandon (new)

Brandon Johnston (d20dad) | 19 comments 7 times this year alone. After the second you start seeing the intricate pattern of layered storytelling he's doing. He uses everything. Nothing seems minuscule or inconsequential. After my initial print readings last year, I bought the audio books and they've been one of my best investments in literature. The reader is incredibly talented and if it's possible to find the books even more emotional, he manages to make me feel it.

message 7: by Bryan (new)

Bryan | 5 comments Yeah, I have thought about purchasing the audio books as well, and now you are all confirming that they are the way to go. I guess I have some shopping to do...

message 8: by Brandon (new)

Brandon Johnston (d20dad) | 19 comments They're pretty reasonable on audible with a membership discount, just fyi.

message 9: by Kelley (new)

Kelley (kelleyiveygmailcom) | 1 comments I have them on Audible... and I listen while driving or traveling or waiting at Dr. or for kids.... I love the option that audible gives me.

message 10: by Manda (new)

Manda | 115 comments You can get your first book for free if you join Audible. One small tip: make sure their DRM is compatible with your MP3 player before you purchase. I was disappointed to learn it wouldn't work on my Sony...

Jason (jzone) | 79 comments 6 for NotW
5 for WMF

Excellent book to re-read due to the lyrical story telling and intricate details. It's at the top of my rereader list now narrowly beating out...

The Night Angel Trilogy
The Lord of the Rings
Dune
Ender's Game
A Game of Thrones

message 12: by Raafaye (new)

Raafaye Ali | 23 comments Ive read the books every year since they were published so its fresh and i notice thigs i didnt notice before hand, i now listen to the audio books rather then reading them as its a different experience

message 13: by Raafaye (new)

Raafaye Ali | 23 comments I have reread the way of kings within 6 months because i really enjoyed his book, but other then that out of hundreds of books i hqvnt re read any other ones

message 14: by Raafaye (new)

Raafaye Ali | 23 comments I tried once to reread eraton and realiised how poorly they were written and was inly sutible while i was naive of well written books. Some books will always be good some not so much as explained above

message 15: by Raafaye (new)

Raafaye Ali | 23 comments Eragon*

message 16: by Gandalfgrijs (new)

Gandalfgrijs | 3 comments Well, officialy I've only read them once, but I read often a few random pages, than skipping back at a scene I recalled to be fun or where I want to check something. So, some chapters I've only read once, but some five times or more.
I plan to reread them soon from the beginning to the end.

message 17: by Becky  (new)

Becky  (nvrayn) | 25 comments Check on Amazon, sometimes if you pick up the Kindle version, you can get a good deal on the Audible version. I like that my bookmarks and notes save to both devices. I don't have a Kindle, I have the app on my iPad and Android phone.

I think I've read NOTW 4 times now...WMF less. Probably 2 all the way through.
I could go for another WMF read actually.
Probably will once a date for DOS is released.

Also - yes the audiobooks are very enjoyable and well done. I think there are two versions (different readers) I know that the version done by Nick Podehl has official pronunciations and accents, Pat's mentioned working with him to get the sound and wording just right.

message 19: by Ions (new)

Ions I've honestly lost count of how many times I've listened to the audiobooks...a safe guess is over 6 times...but not ten (since april or may 2012)

message 20: by Scarletine (new)

Scarletine | 7 comments I'm on my 3rd re-listen of the audiobooks with Rupert Degas narrating. I wanted to get it all back in my head before 'The slow regard of silent things' is released. Each time i listen there is another layer of revelations and connections. Wonderful stuff.

message 21: by Poul (new)

Poul (holmelund) | 4 comments I have read both of them 4 times in length and parts of them many more times.
I plan on listening to the Audio-books during the coming year as preparation for a potential 2016 release of book 3 ;)

I think for full read throughs.
TNoTW - 4
TWMF - 3

message 23: by Jessica (new)

Jessica | 117 comments I will be doing my first re reads of the series this year. My husband thinks I'm weird. With any book I love, it's rare that I reread them. I get so excited about all the other 500 books on my TBR list. But this year I'm falling in love with my favorites again. KKC, HP, and The Strain trilogy. Looking forward to it.

message 24: by Britt (new)

Britt (MotherEarth7814) | 2 comments TNOTW- 12 times
TWMF- 7 times

I've read the Name Of The Wind thrice and the Wise Man's Fear around five. I've read the slow regard of silent things twice and The Lightning Tree thrice.

message 26: by Darkshines (new)

Darkshines | 1 comments I have also read both books twice and worth it !
Don't think is going be the same with book 2.5 ...

message 27: by Daniel (new)

Daniel | 12 comments I think I'm on my 10th re read right now...

message 28: by Eris (new)

Eris | 7 comments I ve read both of the main books 7 Times.

Eris | 7 comments I ve read both of the main books 7 Times.

message 30: by Samuel (new)

Samuel (sajcripp) | 30 comments I've only read them once as well. :/ Planning on reading them before DoS, but I think I have plenty of time.

message 31: by Samuel (new)

Samuel (sajcripp) | 30 comments Alright, You've convinced me. I'm about to start a re-read. I've come to terms with the fact that I'll say goodbye to my entire winter recess. Anybody willing to do a run-through with me and have a massive discussion about it later on? Starting Name of the Wind now.

message 32: by Samuel (new)

Samuel (sajcripp) | 30 comments Lol, no worries Pixie. Just got through with all my deadlines. Best of luck!

message 33: by Daniel (new)

Daniel | 12 comments I'm always up for discussing those books:

message 34: by Japhia (new)

Japhia | 66 comments I typically start a re-read when the next release date is confirmed. That way I can time the end of the re-read to coincide with the release date.

message 35: by Samuel (new)

Samuel (sajcripp) | 30 comments That's a pretty good plan, but who knows when we'll be getting the release date of DoS?

message 36: by Michael (new)

Michael Lavin | 71 comments Any updates on the new book? Getting old waiting and kinda moved on from it. He has essence of Martin and it's getting old

message 37: by Samuel (new)

Samuel (sajcripp) | 30 comments Pixie wrote: "The release date is yet to be confirmed...So I've made this plan, it's not a plan really, more like an aim/idea.

I'm hoping to re-read both TNOTW AND TWMF towards the end of January, but this time..."

Wow, I totally didn't even realize they did that! I'm going to their website now. =P

message 38: by Daniel (new)

Daniel | 12 comments Michael no updates...no question the waiting is the hardest part but I want to read the book that he feels is finished. Clearly he has some issues with finishing it and becoming a superstar author in the middle of the run didn't help.

message 39: by Heather (new)

Heather Hopkins (lakereader42) | 3 comments Only read them once and haven't found a comparable book since. I will definitely re-read before the 3rd is released. Does anyone have any suggestions on readings as good as these? Please. :)

message 40: by Trent (new)

Trent | 12 comments Riyria Revelations by Michael J Sullivan is outstanding.

message 41: by Heather (new)

Heather Hopkins (lakereader42) | 3 comments Thank you Trent! That series is already on my TBR list! We must have similar taste. :)

message 42: by Trent (new)

Trent | 12 comments It starts off as pretty standard fare, but it has great characters, and soon the plot just takes off. It's one of my favorites. Plus it's finished!

message 43: by Chris, Master Artificer (new)

Chris (chris300) | 388 comments Mod
He can take as long as he likes, for me. It's worth the wait, although obviously I would kill for it now also.

I've read each of them about 5 times.

message 44: by Slick (new)

Slick | 54 comments Got The new Iron Druid & Mistborn out on January 25th so i have to read those and freshen up on Shadows of Self... then im definitely going the Kingkiller route ;)

message 45: by Joshua (new)

Joshua There are a lot of posts, so I am not sure if someone posted this already. I came across this website when I thought about rereading both books closer to release date.

http://www.tor.com/series/patrick-rot...

There are also some things I haven't even thought of when I reread them.

message 46: by Ariel (new)

Ariel | 2 comments That's an awesomely in-depth and insightful dissection of the novels. In fact, this is how i got to start reading the series: googled the Name of the Wind playing cards (can't remember why), and arrived at the description of them that was posted as part of the series of blog posts...
