"I think we'd better check if it'll work. I'm kind of wondering if the dog has to be the POV character. But if it doesn't work for that one, it'd work for dog on cover, snow on cover, maybe dog as stray?
I'm tired though - so - I don't know! I'm sure you'll be able to tell as you read it if Tucker is a main character or if we should move it to another task. It looks like a good book - and what a cute dog!
Can you put me down for this one for the mini challenge -24.Read a book that has one or more of these words - Noël, Nativity, Xmas, or Yule found in the text. ( no variations excepted; word(s) must be exact) (50 points)
It has nativity in the text.
That was one of the tasks that I wrote and in my mind was something like “Marley and Me” so the dog doesn’t need to have a POV, just be a main character (central to the story) 😉
It does look like an adorable book!

He is definitely a shelter dog & it states A main character... Lemme know what you think!
If he isn't a main character then maybe a Mrs. Murphy book would work? Tee Tucker is a corgi who is considered a main character, she talks and everything (though the humans don't understand her). I have a bunch of the books on my shelves and they are fast reads. She isn't a shelter dog though and is never on the cover.
I'm glad you wrote that one Karen because now we 100% know! Lol honestly - I still get in last year's Cutthroat state of paranoia when I'm tired :)So Lauri - I'll leave it for the dog as a MC, and that is an extra bonus we can also move it to stray/shelter dog depending on what others read.
Three Books to Add:1. Star is a higher point value than lights but it says "a Star" and mine has stars on the cover -
?Please add to 35 or 36 for whichever works better. I will switch presents in the text to another book which has a less useful cover image.
2.
- flour in text - "just a little bit of acorn flour"3. Carrot in text -
- p. 344 - "I'd trade a cat steak for a single carrot"
Tina I wrote you down for Australian Born author task with book to be determined. But just speak up if you want me to take that off.
Lexi - I think it works for both star(s) and lights (at least my opinion) - I'll put it for star. I'm going to read the same book - I'll put mine for lights - but if we get overruled for star we can move one to snow on cover :)

I also finished my last two books for this week.

I'm also reading it. And I just realised I need to start it today :o

I will be done my Reindeer in title book tonight and another book that works for E tomorrow. I think that will be it for me this week, unless the dreaded insomnia hits again. Are we going to have a spreadsheet for the mini-challenge or somewhere where we can see what hasn't been claimed?
I've got one more In Death book to read for this week. Should be finished tonight (Sydney time). It fits all the letters. I'm going to read Sonia's Christmas Week 6 special
, I couldn't resist. I'm not sure what letters it will cover but he's AKA as Santa so that should pick up at least the S in presents.

Could someone please add them to our spreadsheet for me? Appreciate it!
Wow so many great books read! I have one more I'll finish by the deadline too - I had plans for several more, but the one I'm finishing was LONG and...it took over :)I'll update right now, and then continue to update up until the deadline. Thanks for all of the fantastic reading!
I don't know if we will have an editable spreadsheet for the Christmas tasks, but we've kept the main one updated, and you can see it here to check what is unclaimed.Christmas Tasks
I have everything up to date (so far). Sorry you've had that tough book to read Allison Ann - I hope it is going ok for you!

That's great Suzanne. Sorry I hadn't thought to check the real spreadsheet, just the tracking one. :D
Added my last two books to the spreadsheet. They work for R and E. I have to head out now, so I won't get anything else done for REINDEER, but I'll find some PRESENTS books when I get home. Hope everyone has a great day.
Well I'm home much earlier than planned. I have a couple of books for the mini-challenge.
- 4 or more items of clothing mentioned (I found shirt, pants, jacket and robe just by flipping through)
- brown cover between 301 and 500 pages (330 pages)
- more than 500 pages with a green item on cover (leaves)They all work for at least a couple of letters of PRESENTS.
Wonderful - nice finds! I don't know about all of you, but I really like going through and finding books for tasks. I have to restrain myself sometimes.Anyway - I'm putting those in there :)
Ok - don't finish any books for the next 53 minutes. Here is the countdown to Week 6. Our last week ... sniff...https://www.timeanddate.com/countdown...
Update
We read 47 books as a team this week, and our page counts were high again with an average of 29 points per book .So this was our highest scoring week yet woohoo! Great work everyone!

Please don't finish anything in the next 10 minutes as we are going to have week 5 locked.
I'll post again once week 6 is ready to roll for PRESENTS

I love searching for books to match tasks. Unfortunately I sometimes do too much of that and too little of the actual reading. :) However, I think I found a top hat book.
It's hard to see in the tiny picture, but there is a small snowman wearing a black top hat on the table to the right of the cat.
Yeah, I love searching for the books to fit the tasks as well. I've read some doozies over the years for challenges, LOL as I'm sure most of us have!
Lisa - (Aussie Girl) wrote: "Yeah, I love searching for the books to fit the tasks as well. I've read some doozies over the years for challenges, LOL as I'm sure most of us have!"Haha and yes! Sometimes I wish there was a way to hide some of the books I read for challenges from my non-challenge friends.
For our mini Christmas Challenge, please put me down for RAB with 202 - 301 pages - I have Nutshell with 208 pages. Also Something Sweet - I have Key Lime Pie Murder which is definitely sweet. Character names will tie it in to PRESENTS....
I really enjoy the search almost, if not more, than the actual book reading part of these challenges! And, Suzanne, don't be ashamed of your reading selections! Make no apologies! How many people out there don't read anything at all?
(This is coming from someone who thoroughly enjoyed White Trash Zombie Apocalypse!! HA!!)
Thanks Lauri - that is a great point! Who knows - maybe one of those titles that slightly embarrasses me will spur someone to read a book! I added those in to the challenge :)
As a big romance reader I'm used to the smirks and patronising looks from less enlightened people and I don't care a bit. I love my "guilty pleasures" which I read between epic historicals and thrillers.
Some of what I read for Quidditch was pretty awful (I was a beater) and I am friends with my mother on here but I did give her a heads up since I am one of her few friends so generally she sees all of my posts. I read and have always read queer romances more than straight ones (at least before TT). I think I get judged my librarians though. I miss my old library.
I gave up on paper writing. I'm reading Loves Me, Loves Me Knot, which only fits for many, many items of clothes. However, Alison currently has that claimed. It seems that hers would also work for 8 in page number if she is ok with switching them (both kindle and paperback have an 8).

(Kadin for anyone interested in reading it...)

Sounds like a good idea to do the swap so we can cover another task. I've updated the s/sheet :)

I've just started a book by an Australian author as an audiobook - Working Class Boy by Jimmy Barnes
I've listened to 20 minutes and it's hard to listen to already. I'll try and finish it before Sunday but I don't think I will. Heavy content and all
So far I've got an S for James Dixon Swan
