I woke up late and then took a nap just past halfway. Those naps help. Good Plan to snooze some.
I may come by later to check in again, if I do mamage to stay awake. In any case, I will follow your posts tomorrow as we wrap up posting and reviewing. See you soon.

Patricia Bergman (marshop) | 102 comments Congratulations, Vicki. How are you going to improve on that record next time?

message 156: by Vicki Willis (new)

Vicki Willis | 510 comments Good question. The last few read a thons I have been around the 700 pg mark, so maybe I try for about 700 pages.
I think I was able to do it this because I added one graphic novel (which I don't usually read) to the list. That actually helped with my fatigue. And I was still able to get a lot of pages with the visit to my mom.
So a win-win!

Great job, Vicki! I've found that graphic novels help a lot! Not just with page count ;) but also with mental fatigue. Though I did have to re-read the final pages of one of mine because I did not remember how it ended the night before. lol.

message 159: by Dana (new)

Dana (dkmckelvey) | 56 comments Wow good job Vicki! Are you extra tired today, or did you have a good sleep after? I've always wanted to try those Sarah J Maas books, everyone loves them but I am afraid they are too hyped up now

message 160: by Cynda (new)

Cynda | 1654 comments Mod
I agree about the graphic novels. I did that last year. This time I went with something similar--illustrated young readers books. Looking forward to April. See you then :-)

message 161: by Vicki Willis (new)

Vicki Willis | 510 comments Thanks everyone!

Dana, I do not read a lot of these kind of books so they are new and fresh for me. I really liked the first one, but the one I am reading now A Court of Mist and Fury which is the second one is EVEN BETTER! I can not put it down! And it is 23 hours long on audible. I really recommend the series.

April 25, 5am start time for San Diego, CA

This was supposed to be my brother's wedding weekend. Very disappointing that it had to all be postponed, so I will participate in the RaT instead.

Elyse (winesaboutbooks) | 2454 comments Welcome back! Ugh too bad about your brother's wedding. Hopefully the world will be back to semi-normal before too long. But who knows. Readathons are necessary. lol

message 166: by Patricia (new)

Patricia Bergman (marshop) | 102 comments Are you planning to participate in this April read-a-thon? I will probably try again.

message 167: by Vicki Willis (new)

Vicki Willis | 510 comments Yes, but my husband is home this weekend and has been feeling left out because I have been consumed/obsessed with getting my distance learning class set up. So I will have to try to balance time with him. I am working harder/longer than I have at any time in my career to reach all students, learn the tech, do wellness checks, distribute food , etc. He has been patient and supportive so I should hang out with him too. I AM trying to get him to grab a book and read with me!
Am going to try to set up my TBR and scaled back check ins today though. I don't think I will do all the hourly stuff this time. Will check out some other people's post and see what they are doing.

Vicki Willis | 510 comments Halfway Update!

I have been derailed almost all day. My husband is home and is "waiting' for me. lol I have gone on a walk, played badminton and went swimming to keep him occupied. It is almost 90 degrees here today (San Diego, CA) so swimming and getting some sun was actual wonderful.
I had to go help my mom move some potted plants (yes, on the hottest day of the year!), but that is better than the last readathon when she was in the hospital.

So having said that, I have only read about 300 pages. And listened for 30 minutes.
The great news is the book I am reading The Boy from the Woods is very good and entertaining.
I finished one that was 3 short stories and loved it. Suicide Run: Three Harry Bosch Stories
I started a new audible and it seems interesting. The Farm

Have a great second half everyone!
