The Good Lie by A.R. Torre

Psychiatrist Dr. Gwen Moore's specialty is killers. Killers who have killed, killers who want to kill, killers who love talking about fictional kills, killers who might kill in the future but just need some talking time where Gwen mostly listens, doodling flowers on her note pad. Gwen thinks she is really good at her job, that she fills a niche in the world of psychiatry, but she's going to find out just how incompetent she really is at the important stuff.

the verdict is in - this is a dangerously riveting story.

i honestly was not expecting this to be so good. i havent read anything by AT before, but im pretty sure she was predominately a romance author, so i was intrigued to see how she would handle mystery/crime. and she does it well - its a good look for her.

this story is exactly my cup of tea. i would kill for a good crime fiction story, especially ones that deal with serial killers, so this ticked all the boxes for me. the characters are comp

A defense attorney decides to represent a man accused of killing six teenagers. One of them was that attorney's son... Why is he so convinced of his innocence?

The story begins with the latest victim of the Bloody Heart killer coming home after escaping. We also meet Gwen Moore, a psychiatrist who specializes in killers. I have to say I really liked this character and she's the reason why my rating is rounded up instead or down. She often has to face moral dilemmas because of her work and that w

I cannot tell you how excited I was when I received an ARC for A.R. (Alessandra) Torre’s latest thriller. I became a HUGE fan of her writing in 2020, having read 5 of her books. She’s still got it in 2021!

Gwen Moore is a psychiatrist who specializes in treating those with violent fantasies, some of which come to fruition. While dealing with a particularly stressful situation regarding a client, the state of California is unrest due to a serial killer. The Bloody Heart Killer targets male teenag

Six teenagers have been murdered. They have been sexually assaulted and their sexual organs have been removed and discarded like trash. So it's shocking when the seventh victim returns to his home, hurt but alive, after weeks of his absence. He was able to escape and is pointing the finger at his high school teacher, Randall Thompson!

I’m game when Alessandra Torre decides to turn dark side, bringing out A. R. Torre identity to blow my mind with twisty, brain cell destroyer, nail chopper, heart pounder stories! Bring it out girl! I love to devour them at one sit!

I’m still missing her Deanne Madden character from Girl in 6E! I’m crossing my fingers and wishing she can decide to write a new book of hers in near future!

And let’s talk about this book: the story starts with a young 17 years old Scott Harden’s escape from his cap

This author is now a favorite! This one kept me on the edge of my seat and the ending blew me away! I was not on the right track at all. It’s so fun when an author does that.

For characters in this one we have Gwen – a psychiatrist who treats people with violent tendencies. There’s also attorney Robert, still suffering grief from losing his son. We know that both Gwen and Robert are hiding things from each other and from us.

    This one has teeth.

The Good Lie demonstrates exactly why A.R. Torre strikes a match and sets fire to every storyline she's ever written. And this one bites back with its creative and harrowing jaunt into those dark creepy places and hangin' webs tucked inside the mind of the Bloody Heart Killer.

I feel weird about The Good Lie. It wasn’t horrible. The prose was actually quite readable and flowed quickly. But certain parts left a terrible taste in my mouth, and these moments completely ruined the rest of my (fairly decent) reading experience.

AR Torre always brings it - the scandal, the suspense, the thrills and the twists. I was so excited to read her latest and, true to form, this book was a page-turner. I loved the central character Gwen, a psychiatrist who specializes in clients with killer impulses. Literally. In his book, she is called upon to creat a profile for the Bloody Heart Killer, a serial killer who has been torturing and killing young boys and taking their pinky fingers as trophies. My thanks to A.R. Torre, Thomas and Mercer and Netgalley. I would love to bash all over this story! But, I just cant. It's everything I didn't want it to be. Yet it's still in the hot spot! The shrink and lawyer were too clever by half! That's what made this a "must read!" I understand all the clever devices that authors deploy. I'm usually along for the ride. This was fun! “Could this be a copycat killer? A hoax? Or a weak moment in strategy and execution?”

I ADORE this author’s writing. THE GOOD LIE is about a psychiatrist (she specializes in treating killers) who makes it her mission to unmask the notorious “Bloody Heart Killer” who targets teenaged boys. I was deeply immersed in this story and I was never in a rush to get to the ending, mainly because of the main character who was so unique and well-cracfted; she definitely made a big impression on me

When a client follows through on a threat that she has been working with him to overcome, she feels guilty and scrabbles to find signs she might had missed. The Good Lie is suspenseful and spine-chilling, and a perfect epitome of what a mystery-thriller ought to be. It keeps the reader at the edge of their seat, giving little away from the brilliant mystery that builds up piece by piece, and unveils it in the end, through an intelligent plot and writing by A.R.
