MountainKat | 31598 comments Let's reflect on the best and worst of the previous month's books.....

I know I can get so focused on what is next that I forget about all the wonderful books I read for the previous month's challenges! It's October! The season of pumpkin patches, sweaters and falling leaves! It's almost time for holiday romances, but first there is Halloween. Do you go out for Halloween - decorate and make awesome costumes? Or are you lucky not to eat the candy for the Trick or Treaters before they get there? I fall somewhere in the middle - I made awesome costumes for the kids and we always had fun with the jack-o-lanterns, but I didn't go crazy and decorate. And likely the only reason we had candy when Halloween rolled around was because I always bought a ton! Halloween has never been my holiday, but I LOVE it at Disneyland - go figure! But I always find time to read and am looking forward to some lovely rainy days so I can just curl up with a book!

Did you discover some gems last month? DNF a few? Find your new book boyfriend or a heroine who personifies TSTL? Come on, we all want to know! What did you love in September?

MountainKat | 31598 comments I didn't have any 5 stars books last month, but there were lots of 4 stars! My favorites were probably Moving Maverick, The Duke Next Door and Part-Time Lover.

No duds, but Silk Is for Seduction was probably the weakest last month. It didn't hold my attention and was predictable. It wasn't bad though.

Trio | 2789 comments I think the best thing I read last month was Escaping Exile. It was so original and unexpected - and beautifully written. It was a wonderful surprise.

My only other 5 star book was About the Boy.

I had a couple DNF's which I truly hate to do, but I couldn't help it. Otherwise lots of 3 and a few 4 stars for September.

MountainKat | 31598 comments I love surprises like that!

DNFs are hard, it is rare for me - though I get close now and then!

Robin (robinmy) I had two 5-Star books in September:
Down a Dark Road (Kate Burkholder, #9) by Linda Castillo Natural Born Charmer (Chicago Stars, #7) by Susan Elizabeth Phillips .

4.5 Stars:
The Chosen (Black Dagger Brotherhood, #15) by J.R. Ward Murder in Chinatown (Gaslight Mystery, #9) by Victoria Thompson Last Breath (Good Daughter, #0.5) by Karin Slaughter

No bad books for me in September!

Fran | 12278 comments My September reads were all fun and light. I wasn't in the mood for anything heavy (I'm usually not).

Favorites- David's Selfie by Daisy Harris and One Con Glory by Sarah Kuhn .

Least favorite- Pulling Her Trigger (Ghost Riders MC, #1) by Alexa Riley .

😂 No, you almost never are in the mood for anything that isn't light and fun!

Thanks Trio - just added Escaping Exile, although really I hardly need to expand my TBR!!

Jane (PS) | 24334 comments So - as you know I've been away for about a month and I hardly read anything during that time. However I struck some great books prior to getting on my planes...

5 stars: Twisted and Tied (of course) Robby Riverton: Mail Order Bride (so well crafted) & Looks Over (beautiful). Looks Over was so great ~ gentle, informative and just a feel good story. I want to read the next book but I don't love the look of the story arc :( Legal battles - poo.

Honourable mention: The Courtship of Julian St. Albans - 4 stars. It came out of nowhere and I wasn't expecting to enjoy it as much as I did. (Never read a book so focussed on food though!)

MountainKat | 31598 comments Sounds like you read some good books in the midst of all your travels!

Actually - they were all read before I left! I only read 9 books or so in September and the ones I read while travelling were all short :D
